I've built that house normally and its insane. Around 250 tiny little pieces, two bags inside the other bag to open, just nuts.

That second bag made the build MUCH more challenging. The little tower up top and the white hoop with skeleton feet decoration were also a bitch. The rest was just insane patience. Thanks to Netflix, I wasn't terribly focused on the build at hand, so it wasn't AS miserable.

Lol, you're insane... in a good way ;)

Whats that orange thing inside?

Haha, thanks. And the orange thing is a brick separator. They've been including that in a few sets lately. Of course, I picked bag 1 which included that, too - another large and annoying obstacle.

So I bought the Mini Modulars last night. There's this thing about bag building - literally build the model in the bag (think ship in a bottle). Well the Mini Modulars come in five separate bags for each of the five buildings. I decided to try and bag build one of them.
Wow, that's a new one on me. lol

Impressive!

If any gaffers want some of the LEGO store sets, like the modulars, architecture, VW van, Space Shuttle, etc, let me know. I would be willing to buy and ship them if the buyer covers the cost of everything. For those of you that don't live near one.

I will be able to put the purchases on my VIP to gain credit, so that's what I would benefit for it.

I thought of offering this as well, but I figured buying online would be easier, haha.

Finished the other four modulars now. SO much easier than bag building them...

Finished the Unimog the other night. Quite the difficult build. The nerve-endings in my thumbs are completely shot and I never want to see a pneumatic tube again.

Looks amazing, though. It's HUGE.

EDIT: One more thing: would it really kill Lego to chuck in 2 sets of stickers? Gutted that I bungled a couple.

This thread needs more custom Lego creations! More creativity! Less kits put together per the instructions!!!

Here is one of my pride and joys. It is the Argo from Star Blazers (or Space Battleship Yamato for you hardcore anime fans). I put this together 20 years ago. Yep, that's right, this Lego model has been together for 20 years. It's moved from my mom's house to my ex-wife's apartment to my brother's house to my current house, and through it all it has never been taken apart. Star Blazers was and still is my favorite cartoon of all time. This is actually the fourth iteration of this model, I built three others in high school before I put this one together. My brother at one point had a Lego Andromeda from Star Blazers to go alongside it, as well as Desslock's command ship, but those have been "recycled" for a long time now. But my Argo still remains, and will most likely never be taken apart:

Very cool. So much of LEGO sets today are just big chunks of custom plastic instead of blocks, so I love to see something more classic like this. Bravo.

I'm just posting some random interesting pictures I have come across lately...

This guy does lots of Castle stuff, he's inspired quite a bit for when it comes to making my own. Lots of humour, whimsy and light-heartedness but genuinely exciting builds too.

The creation below is easily my favourite microscale moc.

That's awesome!

I think that's the same guy that was in the LEGO idea book.

One of the coolest custom builds I've ever seen. WOW. Definitely gonna be borrowing this concept someday.

edit: Just flipped back and saw nicoga's "bag build." Very impressive work!

One of my coworkers has recently started collecting the minifigs and I've been shopping with him at lunch. I got the bug and finally broke down and bought my first LEGO set in years, Luke' Landspeeder from SW.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00328R21C/?tag=neogaf0e-20

There are a few other new Star Wars sets that are coming out later this month that I have my eye on, mainly the new X-Wing.

I can see this getting expensive real fast...

Are they making remakes of all the models? I bought a Landspeeder a long time ago (+10 years ago) and it is not the same as in your link.

I believe the Landspeeder came out in like 2010. A new model of the X-Wing and Tie Fighter come out later this month.

I work in a toy shop (although in Britain if that makes any difference) and we have the new X-Wing and TIE Fighter already.

I don't have enough money to start collecting haha but God I wish I did, Millennium Falcon would be top of the list. Because we're a kids shop we don't sell any of the scale models, just loads of Star Wars, Batman, Ninjago, Aliens, Spongebob, Harry Potter and Pharoah's Quest. Batcave set is awesome though.

Good to know, thanks ghostmind!

I can't decide if I want the Fire Brigade or not. It is easily my least favorite of the series, at least of those currently available.

This is probably a dumb question, but how does the tower bridge scale with the modulars?

The Tower Bridge and the Modulars are on a very different scale. The bridge comes with micro-scale cars.

Those two would make a great display on my shelf, but I don't think I have the money to really jump into too much Lego, unfortunately. I do really really really want the VW Kombi van, though.... maybe when I'm back from holidays.

Thanks. Back when I built this, they didn't have all the specialized pieces or colors they have today. I've been talking to the girlfriend, I may invest some money and put together a model of the Andromeda from Star Blazers to go alongside the Argo. Or maybe Desslok's command ship...

Enjoy those modulars - they're a lot of fun to build!

Also, that micro-castle is awesome. I love the use of all those gray cheese slopes, too. Very inspiring!

tbqh it depends really on the set. The themed and licensed ones generally are those big plastic types (they have that before actually).

Woah, did that little set come with 5 minifigs?? That's sort of awesome.
They've been upping the number of minifigs that come with Star Wars sets for a while now. Something about minifig pieces being made in China, so they are cheaper (and feel different) but there's more variety possible. End result is that LEGO is really pushing minifigs these days, especially in the licensed sets.

I have definitely been impressed by the sheer variety of minifigs in modern sets. The dual-sided heads are a particularly clever innovation.

Someone made a motorized, remote controlled Metal Slug tank with Lego, and was even generous enough to provide detailed building instructions:

The end result not only looks crazy good, it's one of the best controlling toys I've ever seen, not just made with Lego, but in general. The thing just flies all over the place, makes doughnuts, etc. Just take a look:

Some unusual parts are needed, but if there's something worth hunting down parts for, this is definitely it.

Here is my Landspeeder assembled. I really like the minifigs it came with.

That's a lot nicer looking than the one I got in 2002. More unique pieces than they used and more minifigs. I wish I could find all the parts for mine. Some are missing.

I have a LEGO Darth Vader keychain. (No lightsaber for obvious pocket-related reasons, and because when I found it in the parking lot it didn't have one anyway.)

I really really just blew my mind. The UCS millennium falcon is selling for $2K in box! I know what I'm doing tomorrow, finding this set and putting it up for sale! So excited.

Just thought I'd post in here that I got an email from head office at TRU (where I work) that they are gauging interest in bringing in the Architecture sets. I definitely sent back an overestimate of people who had asked about it, but I suggested to my AD that we should bring the sets in because I think they'd sell. (fingers crossed)

The Barnes & Noble I go to always seems to be low on the $20 sets and are usually out of stock for Falling Water. They definitely sell there, at least.

Finally got all my orders in and put this guy together.

He is effectively as tall as the Tower Bridge. Really nice sized model. Also, that model is solid brick. No special pieces and almost entirely solid (there's a VERY small hallow core about the size of a golf ball inside).

I can honestly say that this has been my single favorite model I have ever assembled.

Ever.

I really appreciate the newer sets and the creativity that they've introduced. I love the new pieces and the way it's opened up the doors to some crazy ass MOC's. But holy shit, this sculpture build was a completely new and exciting experience. It was challenging, exciting (watching every layer come together was awesome), and the finished product is really fricken cool.

I say this with complete understanding that this was only my first sculpture build - every AFOL should have the experience of building something like this at least once. I built for nearly 6 straight hours. <3

Oooh. UPS just turned up with my two new sets.

Nice, I bought those 2 sets together myself, I think I preferred the grand emporium out of the two.

I just ordered 6 boxes of the latest series minifigs, I do it every time they come out, sell sets on ebay, pays for a set for myself and then some :)

I think I'll put the profits this time towards the pet store and city hall (last time I got a PS3)

Do you sell the minifigs in the box, unopened singles in bags or opened specific minifigs?

How much does a box even cost?

need to get Vader's tie

I also have an
UCS Imperial Star Destroyer hanging out in the living room. That new Super Star Destroyer looks sweet, don't have any clue where i would put it though.

The new Tie Fighter and X-Wing coming out look nice.

I believe the Landspeeder came out in like 2010. A new model of the X-Wing and Tie Fighter come out later this month.

This is at least the third iteration of that landspeeder. I had two older sets like it. One of them came with a dewback I think.

I think I've still got my AT-AT and some other stuff somewhere. I used to have a ton of Star Wars stuff.

I finally finished up my Temple. My first big LEGO custom ever! I don't think there's any space to add anything more.

I would love some of the Roman senator Minifigs, but I haven't gotten any of those yet (from mystery series #3 I think?) I tried to make some tall cypress trees around the gardens with the green pieces I had available. I started with the standard flat grey sheet they sell at the store.

Thank god for the LEGO store having the thick 1x2 tall wall pieces in white, and the flush top white planks. The Gladiators are from mystery series #5. I got pretty good at feeling the bag for the specific Gladiator headpiece, and nailed all 4 in one go ;)

Beautiful man. (There's a piece a bit loose though on the last pic ;) )

I love those little gladiators. Minifigures too?

How much was it to assemble this guy and do you have a parts list?

Nice work on the temple! I'm in awe. And I love the little minifig scene. Things aren't looking so good for the minotaur.

Temple and dragon are both awesome. Second the request for a brick list and advice if there are any good sets that contribute heavily to the pieces needed.

For the temple, did you start with an Atlantis set or two? You have a ton of columns
