The LEGO Thread

Yeah. What kills me is that any discussion that doesn't stick to the rigorous topic at hand is immediately shut down so no discussion ever really gets going as there is no freedom. It's too bad it's the biggest Lego forum and is run like shit.
^This. So much this.

I was excited to discover it a couple years back, but was quickly soured by how it's moderated. Now I generally go there just to check out the reviews.

It's really quite a shame.

I will say that this thread is the best thing I have found in the last year. So much fun discussion, and so much pain for my wallet. But it has reawakened a childhood passion that I can now somewhat afford to pursue.

Pretty much. Though checking out MOC's is nice as well, but everything in their is so haphazard and gets moved and shuffled constantly, that even that is nightmare.

Ugh. Why did I look at the R2D2 instructions on Brickset? That set looks so badass to put together. That might be my next big set instead of Pet Shop. It just looks too awesome.

And so anxious to get my Hulk mini fig. Excited by the possibilities of having Hulk and Deadpool in pics together. So much potential.

better get Grand Emporium before it goes OOP
That is why I ordered it. Ordered Fire Brigade in Feb and that gave me the modular bug. Got Town Hall after that, but always missed grabbing Grand Emporium and Pet Shop during the toys r us bogo sales. Pet Shop I know I have time now. Can move onto other stuff now that Grand Emporium is on the way.

Really wish they had the Tie fighter unstick. Might order the Y-Wing....

Y-wing is a very fun build and looks great when finished. Go for it. I assume you already have the x-wing. It is widely loved on here for how fun it is to build.

I had hoped that the Monster Fighters sets would be in the site by this time, so that I would have an easy choice for my $50 spent for the Hulk fig.

So now, what to buy, what to buy...hmm...

Mines of Moria.

I almost got a LOTR set, but a friend of mine that works at BN said they are getting the sets in soon, so that means member discount and coupons for cheaper sets.

So if they're available online, does that mean the stores will have them too? I'm gonna check tomorrow! If not, then I guess I'll order online then.

Already picked up all the LotR sets from Amazon/Target... they'll be here by week's end.

Maybe the Republic Frigate?

Mini modulars? I almost got that. I try and use Lego.com for exclusive or elusive sets. Local bn stores get most of the other stuff I want like non UCS SW stuff and soon LOTR. Shame there is no Lego store here in ct. Of course, it is better for my wallet.

Also, when grabbing groceries at Target tonight, grabbed two more series 7 mini figs since they finally had some in. No duplicates! Yay! Got the daredevil and the diver. Only missing four figs in the series now I think.

So I'm thinking of getting the 3-1 cruiser, the 3-1 lighthouse, Luke's land speeder and the bat mobile set in 2 different purchases. Selling a hulk minifig on eBay for profit? What do you guys think? I just get bored after building sets so a 3-1 would keep it interesting?

those creator sets you mentioned are great sets, the cruiser I think is going OOP soon

Thanks for the feedback guys, I definitely like the whole price per piece formula you guys have given me. Those 3-1 sets are awesome. The shuttle is at a great price, I just have a feeling it will go 69.99 before phasing out. But what's $20? Go for it!

The 10000 series sets like the Shuttle almost never go clearance or close to it before disappearing. Not that I have seen. The rumor starts that it is going OOP, everyone snatches them up, and then they are gone. It is because they are much harder to find than the regular Creator sets, since fewer stores (like Target and Wal Mart) carry them.

I'm not too bothered about the hulk figure. Noticed the promo said it was available in stores so perhaps I could plan a trip there. Will save on the shipping/waiting time.

Question for you guys. Will they also release more non-old republic Star Wars sets this year? Or just those tiny planets?

So, I found the culprit of my crooked sex-wing landing gear...

Look at that smug bastard. The axle hole ( + ) is not is perfectly parallel/perpendicular to the piece's connection, so anything that goes in will come off at an angle, which is okay for some parts, but not for others. Anyway, I Bricklink'd 5 more and it turns out that 3 of them also suffer the same defect.

GOSH, LEGO.

hmm, that sux

I have the same issue with the Avenger Chopper Showdown set. The minifigs are amazing but the actual chopper is terrible. It doesn't help that it has a ridiculous mark up in Australia ($50AUD vs $20USD).

guess i'll be buying this... once amazon stocks it :)

still waiting on the monster sets to show up. definitely going to get lord vampyre and maybe a few others...

amazon still has only stocked 3 of the LotR sets... why is it taking so long for them to get the others :(

IIRC I think the Orc Forge is the one LotR set that's retailer exclusive (Target), at least if you're in the US.

Saw this at K-mart earlier and couldn't believe my eyes. Even with all the graphical wizardry that Lego usually rapes the front of the box with, it still looks so sparse for $50.
