Why does this set seem so much more expensive than the Haunted House (and incomplete to boot)? Is it because of the licensed characters?

This is $160, Haunted House is $180. This is also a playset, hence the open back. 8 Minifigures, and yes, expensive license.

Now here's a set I could get behind.

hmmmm. If I mortgage some organs to buy both arkham and vampire's castle that would combine pretty well....

aquaman set is a lock for a purchase if that rumor pans out.

I don't find the included minifigs all that interesting... mostly duplicates of what I have. I don't know... I'm on the fence. I'll get it on discount when I can.

Way, way more interested in the new Hobbit stuff!

*edit* thank you ghostmind! that image is torture though! i want to seeee :|

Does that tree set have eagles, I can't tell!

I will own them all!

^^That spider attack set is GLORIOUS!
Baby giant spider will go amazing with the full sized Shelob! Looks like it comes with two of the big spiders (so cute!) and a bunch of the tiny accessory spiders. :D

They include a TON of minifigs in these sets. I wonder if I will be able to get a full set of the dwarves without buying them all. (HAHAHA, of course I'll have to buy them all)
Getting the Bagend and Spider sets for sure, though.
I hope that's not Bilbo in the Spider one (up in the web), he's in at least 3 of the others already.

Arkham Asylum set revealed! US MSRP is $160. Buy 2 for a complete building.

10937 Batman - Arkham Asylum Breakout by fbtb, on Flickr

Looks cool but I'm more interested in the minifigs, the re-release of penguin, scarecrow and poison ivy should hopefully making getting them in bricklink a lot cheaper. Scarecrow goes for like $45 or something crazy at the moment. I was planning one of those Ikea frames with Batman minifigs but I'm thinking I'll need 2, one for batman and allies and one for the rogues gallery.

I've got off sets lately as I've realised it's the minifigs in them that I'm really more interested in, so I've turned to buying them individually unless the set really impresses me (modulars, haunted house) or is really good value for money (lex luthor vs superman\wonder woman.

Brickset and various other places claimed that the Sun was starting a Lego promo today. Not so. Nothing in the paper this morning, and the staff in WH Smith had heard nothing.

Just a heads up to my UK brethren.

Finished my B-wing a few days ago but only now getting time to photo it. It truly is a great ship and a really fun build despite it being mostly mirrored. Not yet put the stickers on and I *think* the minifig I put there is from a previous B-wing but not certain.

Now I want to create a different stand to lift the tail off the floor... maybe add power functions to the stand if I can.

I am pleased with the size of R2 and together you get an idea of how much bigger the B-wing is that previous efforts.

I really like the middle section.

In a way I want this to bomb like the UCS Starfighter did just so I can grab 5 more of them.....

Wow, that's big. Is difficult to get a feel without context. R2 isn't small. Need someone to photograph it next to the imperial shuttle

So our visit to the LEGO store yesterday was... AWESOME!!!

My daughter and I hit the PAB wall first before moving on to the big sets. After that, we scavenged for smaller items to round off our purchase. Here's the haul:

Star Wars B-wing
Monster Fighters Haunted House
Star Wars Jabba's Palace
Friends Summer Riding Camp
Series 8 Mini-Figure - Cheerleader
LEGO Dino Ambush Attack
The Monster Hunters figure pack with witch, ghost, zombie and gravestone
Large PAB cup

My daughter really wanted one of the series 8 mini-figures, so I told her how they were mystery packs and if she wanted any one in particular. She really wanted the cheerleader, so I noticed later that one of the store employees was feeling the bags for another customer. I asked him if he could pick out a cheerleader for us and he did it within about 5 seconds! This guy was an expert!

Ended up spending a little over $800 and I was sure that my wife was going to give me the evil eye when she got home later on. Didn't happen! She saw our LEGO haul and said "Oh, it looks like you guys had a fun day!" and that was that! Score! We've been married for 18 years and I still can't figure her out. She's awesome!

So I ended up scoring about 1500 VIP points which pushes my total to about 3100.

Didn't get the Minecraft set though. But when we got back from the LEGO store, I checked online and it was back in stock! So I quickly ordered one and it should be on its way here soon! So my VIP points are almost up to 3200 now.

Just an observation: The store had a B-wing set up in the front window and, I've got to say, none of the pictures that I've ever seen of it do any justice to how really BIG this ship is. It is MASSIVE.

Does anyone else really dig the desert star wars sets? I just don't see the appeal.

I am trying to mostly focus on ships for my star wars collection. But I must admit I am thinking of getting more of the Hoth sets. Only issue is I don't have room in my apartment to put another shelf...

I picked up the Desert Skiff but honestly I think I did just to get a boba fett minifig. I think I'm going to break down and pick up the B-Wing. Damn that thing is pretty.

Tower Bridge is back up in stock. I just bought one. They also lowered prices again on some things. Death Start was up for 289, but is shown as out of stock. Town Hall was 120 and out of stock. I was going to pick them both up if I could have. These are have to buy prices....

We should see some better scans of the new Hobbit sets today - hope nobody minds the spoilers.

It looks like there were originally 6 sets planned for the release of "An Unexpected Journey", but because of Peter Jackson turning it into a trilogy, 2 of the sets are no longer in the first movie. Other manufacturers are recalling products that are now in "The Desolation of Smaug", but it appears that LEGO will still offer the 6 sets, but label the 2 of them as "Hobbit Trilogy Preview" sets.

Glad you finally got that TB!

Same. It is a truly magnificent set.

That reminds me, arent we due for another giant landmark set? Taj Mahal and Tower Bridge were the last two. Maybe a super large Brooklyn Bridge or Leaning Tower of Pisa ?

Thanks Guys. I am glad I could get it or this price. Once my wife told me she was actually interested in it, it was full speed ahead. I was just waiting for my trip to Nashville. But the Walmart price was to good to pass up.

Well the ever unreliable employees of Lego told me that tb would be oop soon, and they expect something to take its place.

20% off Hero Factory, Star Wars, Duplo and City sets starting tomorrow at Target.

Also, holy shit at $289 for the death star. I'd do that in a heartbeat.

It was $335 then dropped to $289 last night. It's still showing at $289 for me (though sold out - could be cached from when I was checking last night), so hopefully it will return at that price, especially since Walmart keeps dropping the prices on other sets for some baffling reason.

Yeah, not $289 :(

It was on sell at some point last night for that much. The Tower Bridge jumped all over the place before I found it this morning for 178. Town hall was 149 yesterday and 120 this morning. Just keep checking brother.
