These are my pickups for the week. Had to get fire brigade since it's going OOP soon. Got the shuttle and public transport at TRU.

Heh, I just picked up that car today.

That Public Transport set looks sweet!

I needed something to pair with the shuttle at a similar price point. It was a TRU exclusive so I'm like why not. Public Transports feels like a bunch of small car sets put together to make a bigger package.

Are the Shuttle Expedition and VW Van going out of print? The prices have jumped a lot on Amazon but they are still the same on LEGO.com. They are $50 and $60 more on Amazon. Even Luke's Landspeeder is $10 more.

They're both less than a year old, so they should be around for a while. I'm waiting for a deal to pick up the VW Van.

Amazon pricing is strange, sometimes it's higher, sometime lower, sometimes the same. There's no logic to it.

As for those two sets, they were both released last year, so I doubt they'll go out of print this year. Keep in mind though, the Shuttle Expedition is a fixed re-release of a 2010 set, and I have no clue how that would factor into it's longevity.

Man, I love you. I need people like you in my life, 'cause when I see a post like this, all of my indecision fades and I simply think, "Fuck it. I am buying those goddamn Mini Modulars. This goddamn picture here contains more goddamn Lego than I've bought in my entire life, so I am going to live it up and be more like neonglow".

*Fistbump*.

It took only two drinks at the bar and I clicked order on the UCS Imperial Shuttle.

Edit: haha Whitta I was just saying that to my girlfriend yesterday

That shuttle is a set I've been eying for a little while...If my TRU has it for the BOGO 50% sale, I'm going to grab it. I want to wait until double VIP points to buy anything, but it's so hard. -_-

I've done similar things. Drinking with coworkers, get home a bit drunk, buy something that I was skeptical about. In the end, I appreciate my drunk ass more than I let him know.

One wing to go on the Imperial Shuttle. Damn, pictures cannot convey just how sexy this thing is as it comes together. Nor can pictures truly express how massive it is.

When does the double/triple points thing start?

Was in the Lego store with my son today, had to settle with a quick PAB bucket and a couple of minifigs.

But damn, they had the Kingdoms sets, the VW van, the Shuttle, Pet Shop, Fire Brigade, mini modulars, everything. I would burn so much cash in that place if I had no control (or more money).

March 1st - 15th

I'll be at the LEGO store that morning to pick up the Town Hall with my money VISA in hand, Fry style.

Can you post pictures and impressions of Diagon Alley when completed? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on that set. Will be my first in about 5 years.

IT IS FINISHED!!!

Look at that sexy thing!

Seriously, that was incredible to put together. Pictures and looking at measurements cannot convey just how huge this thing really is once it comes together.

For a sense of scale, here is the Imperial Shuttle looming over its TIE Fighter escort and the new X-Wing set.

And this is a picture of all sets in their new homes (with a lot of clutter I need to clean up).

For reference, it is that huge next to a 50 inch Panasonic plasma.

Just wow. I think I am spoiled forever now. I don't think any build will be satisfying from now on unless it is a massive undertaking like that. I was all set to get an iPad 3, but after this I think it is going to be the SSD instead. But I have nowhere to display that one if I got it.

Ugh, your pictures are really making me consider the shuttle. Fuck.

It is the first mega set I have built, and damn am I on a high after finishing it. It is fun as it starts, but seeing the massive piles of bricks on the table slowly disappear felt so fucking great. It is reasonably priced compared to other Star Wars sets, and looks oh so fucking sexy when done.

Hardest part was attaching the wings to the main body. And while they are securely attached to the main body, they are a bit flimsier than I was expecting. I was expecting this thing to be like a giant brick. However, the thing that impresses me the most about this thing is the sheer scale of it. The massive fucking size just makes it feel that much better and is now making it VERY VERY hard for me to not buy the SSD.

One thing is for sure, I have no shortage of white bricks now.

Now that you mention that, those wings must be heavy and the part connecting the top fin to the body doesn't look very wide..

It is a series of rails that connect the fin and wings to the main body. I think it could have used a longer support beam shared between the main body and the fin. Things are VERY solidly held together. I am not worried about it collapsing or anything, but I would feel better if it didnt wobble when you move it.

They kind of are, but the coach and tram feel more sophisticated than the usual cheap town vehicles.

And you get a couple of nice bus stops etc. Would work well with a modular street

I think I need 9397 (Technic Logging Truck) in my life.

Should probably wait for my last order to arrive before I worry about the next one though. I need more shelves too!

Received the Mini Modulars set today. Looking forward to building it.

Anybody got any fan creations at that scale which can be added to it?

there are a ton out there, just search for microscale MOC. My son built a few after we did the mini modulars, as they're so small they need relatively few pieces and can be easily experimented on.

Ever wondered how large a minifig-scale Death Star would be?

Just received this from Amazon. Somehow I missed there's a separate book for mini figures included, how cool is that!

This had me absolutely rolling:

"What about the building instruction? How much paper for that, paper size and so on :-)"

"I think if we use IKEA rules, the building instructions could be reduced to four or five stick figures and simple line drawings. It should all fit on one folded page."

I loved how if it was put into low earth orbit, it'd look as big as the moon!

My girlfriend got me that book set for Christmas, very good books.

I got the Lego book a couple of years ago, I can't remember if mine came with that separate book or not.

It doesn't look familiar but hopefully I do have it. I would hate to have to order again!

My 2 1/2 year old Caleb's Lego Collection has grew at a ridiculous pace.

Gona have to stop using the excuse to get more lego now, I think we are done.
