He's two and a half. Some (most) of that stuff is pretty advanced for his age, don't know how much was his dad 'just helping him out' ;)

Haha you might be on to something there.

Defo a team effort, he shouts the colours and numbers in the book, helps stick the odd piece down and shouts at me to put the wheels on then plays with them none stop. I (or mam a few times) do the rest ;)

I bought two creator sets, built a Dino then took it apart. Started to build the airplane with propellers. Stopped took everyjing apart, proceed to try to build a robot. Realize i need more regular blocks. What set should I buy for better building bricks? I don't even care about the sets now I just want to build something cool.

Where did you see that?

I'll be hitting a Lego store this weekend, so if that is true I will definitely wait to purchase some of the bigger items until next week from the online shop.

If this is for the double VIP points March 1-15, it's in the March calendar flier that the LEGO shops have on hand to give out. There's a scan of it out there somewhere. I think I originally saw it on the Brickset forum.

Edit: UK PDF is up on Lego's site now. The US one is basically the same. VIP 2x points offer is in the lower left of the front page.

Awesome. Thanks so much guys!

I was just about to order Lighthouse Island for the bonus 50 VIP points which ends on Feb 29th, now I know I can just wait a little longer and get a little bit more.

Also will make sure to not pick up any modulars this weekend, those can wait for an online order at the beginning of March. :)

Imho the creator sets give you a good variety of bricks for a very good price.
If you want to build a robot, get the robot creator set, that gives you a few basics like elbow joints and such.

Actually the 50 bonus points is the better deal - Base points on the Lighthouse Island would be 39, so the first weeks of March would net you 78 points total instead of the 89 points that it gives now.

oh crap, you're right. I looked at the 89 points in my cart and for some reason thought that they hadn't added the bonus points yet. Don't know what the hell is going on in my head today.

Thanks for pointing that out, will order it now then! :)

Yeah we've kept to the Cars 2 & Toy Story stuff, if he gets into it later my cash is ready.

Thinking about a sly pop to the shops tomorrow, I think we just need a couple of buildings to set the scene for him to play.

;)

Get some Creator houses like the log cabin or apple tree house.

I think I've settled on the VW Van as my next purchase. I'll grab it for double VIP points in the beginning of March. Looks like fun and will look very good on display next to the Mini Modulars.

Just bought a new house, so there will be plenty of room in the new place for display. :)

Damn...I wanted to do something like that (down having a cockpit for the mini fig)..This guy's actual creation puts to shame even what I had conjured up in my mind...

Welcome to every MOC ever, hahaha. I always find someone has done what I've thought about, just better than I could have envisioned it. Houses/buildings are a nice way to get introduced to MOC'ing though. While they still require some creative skill and thought, you can base a lot of your tricks off of the current modular line.

The Star Wars planet sets are fun little builds for $10, though I was more interested in the planets themselves. The minifigs that are included aren't new (or that rare). That is until summer - when the Bespin set comes out, and after a span of 10 years we finally get a new minifig of this guy:

Hopefully this will be the start of a new Cloud City set, because this locale is sorely lacking right now.

hopefully they make a new one, i do own the original and honestly the sets not very good. the only thing cool is the carbonite chamber that lets you drop minifig han down and pull back up carbonite han. but it's not even round like in the movie. the conference room area is way too small. and the window that luke flies out is pretty lame. oh and the landing platform goes out the back of the model, and sticks out very far, making the set impossible to display all together on a shelf. (also didn't come with its own cloud car, had to buy separately)

the home one set, and the new hoth echo base set both look better.

anyway, im getting the slave I today. cant wait to build my first lego in 3 years.

Love Lego, but I can't be doing with these new big sets. I like the little ones the best, they have the most charm. I remember being in the Isle of Wight as a kid and TESCO was doing a sale on these little Lego boxes and because of a bet I won with my dad he bought me 3. They came to 2.97. My fav was the box of this wizard;

and he came with a chest on big old wagon wheels, a wand and treasures for the chest. I loved that little set, but I can't find it online or anything.

Since we're being nostalgic, this was my favorite set as a kid:

Black Knight's Castle 6086

I am so lucky to have awesome parents that bought this for me.

And it looked great next to Wolfpack Tower 6075

And it even came with a tiny treasure chest filled with gold and a fucking glow in the dark ghost.

Oh, my Science! That is incredible. Shit. I want the SSD more and more now after seeing something that nuts.

I want it too, but it is nowhere near as awesome as the Falcon because it's so symmetrical. There are tons of 2x, 4x, even 12x builds in that set.

I would pay a lot of money for a UCS Falcon set, but not the kind of money that it actually goes for.

Stopped by Toys r Us and passed on everything. Even with buy 1 get 1 half off, I would only save a couple bucks compared to Amazon on the creator or city sets. I didn't feel like rewarding that. The prices on the Star Wars sets were borderline insulting. I think it was $95 for Slave 1.

I went to TRU during lunch today and passed on everything as well. The only thing I really wanted was the Fire Brigade which of course wasn't in stock. Guess I will be buying one during the double VIP points starting next week. On a side note man TRU sure feels depressing these days. I'll admit I haven't been in one in long time but they just seem run down now. As a kid I used to love going to them!

Ya, I don't understand how in the times of online shopping and price matching a major chain can get away with marking up a product that's available all over the place.
