Sorting has become the most crazy experience ever. It's NEVER ending. I'll have to post pictures of all my sorting I've been up to the past few weeks. My collection is significantly more navigable now...

The Enterprise would obviously be the first mega set they'd make, but I would love a DS9 set or a Klingon bird of prey.

So many possibilities... UCS and standard size ship models, bridge playsets (hell, do a Death Star style set with multiple ship levels and stations).

They can have my money.

It took me roughly 2 weeks to sort my childhood collection, and that was 'just' about 20,000 - 25,000 pieces. The roughest part was remembering whether I'd created a bag for some of the smaller, less common brinks.

It was of course so very much worth the hard work, as I've been able to create my first to MOCs.

Yeah, I'm excited to finish. As soon as its done, I have plans for a pretty rad MOC...but I hate trying to decide if I want to further categorize some of these containers or work with them (for now).

Did the X-Wing tonight. This one is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Really fun and fairly challenging for a newbie, lots of cool engineering (the way the S-Foils go in and out of attack position is really cool) and it's just a beautiful model when finished. Get this one!

I opened the SSD box. I pulled out of the bags from inner box 1 (of 4). The pile of bags full of parts stood so high on my desk it blocked my view of the monitor. That's just one box. I made the Yao Ming laugh face, stuffed the bags back into the box, and set it aside for the night. I need to rethink my strategy.

Lego should give a commission for this thread. Broke down and have decided moment my bank account shows refund is in im heading to the mall and the lego store for the SSD

That X-Wing looks awesome. wish the Wal-Mart I went to had it in stock, they did have a bunch of the Tie Fighters. I'll have to check some other locations this weekend.

I'm about halfway done with the Black Pearl, and so far it's looking pretty cool. And judging by Gary's pics it should look awesome finished. Glad I picked it up.

And Gary, where do you put all of these finished sets? Do you have a dedicated room or unit for them? If so, you mind posting a pic?

It just came out this month. It should be available everywhere by now.

You should be able to verify on walmarts site if they are in stock in local stores. All of my local ones say they have limited stock in but since they all say that I think supply is ok

I had the X-Wing back in the 90s and I'm curious if they changed the design of how the S-Foils work. Back then there was a gear in the back that you would rotate that would open and close them. Is it still the same?

So, went to the other Westfield. It's about the size as Stratford, sale area was a bit rubbish as it was mostly party stuff and some Hero Factory. Staff were OK (or so I thought....).

The PAB wall was very good, got some nice parts. Sadly they had wheels but no tires, still grabed some for engines or greebles though. Right dark red wings but no left wings.......

Still, it seemed better than Stratford in a way maybe because it was my first trip there?

The down side was when it came to paying. I got one large cup and one smal. The small was when I was running out of time so didn't stack but just went for small pieces so the lid fitted no problem. The large one I stacked though so the lid was about 1cm off fitting on one side and just about touching on the other side. The clerk told me I had to remove some bricks.....

I removed a layer of 2x4's and he told me I had to remove another layer. He wanted the lid to close 100%. I know it's fair enough but in all I have read, talked or seen at or about the PAB wall I've never heard of this kind of behaviour.

Oh well, onto the spoils.

Small cup:

651 pieces in total.

Large cup:

white 1x8 smooth tile 31
red 2x2 19
red 2x4 15
orange 2x4 30
grey 2x4 47
whiteBracket 1x2 - 2x2 39
trans ogange 1x1 round 386
wheel 51
black pole 40
orange 1x1 round 1
flame 1
red plate 6x3 right 1

661 pieces in total. Didn't even know I had the 1 orange round or the flame till I got home.....

what are you building that needs so many trans-orange round 1x1s!?

Woah, where did you find that? I would LOVE a magazine like that...

No kidding, hit me up with a link please.

I found it in a Lego store in London (Westfield Shepards Bush far rights next to PAB wall), not noticed them before but they had the issue pictured and the next issue featuring Steampunk.

As has been said in this thread, the writing is not the best but the pictures are good. They have build instructions for a couple of MOC's as well as some good interviews (high-ups in TLG).

Not sure yet and mostly bought them as they were there and filled the spaces but I want to try to use them in some sort of hazardous materials transport.

Wut....there's a lego store at Westfield? Since when?

I used to go there all the time when I lived in London, but never noticed it! Did it just recently arrive?

Will definitely pay a visit next time I'm in town...(in a month or two hopefully). We don't have any dedicated Lego stores here in Dublin.

our collection is ok now. But I plan to buy a few big sets soon, and that will definitely require a rethink on the sorting front.

eg the 'small bits that kind of don't belong anywhere else' drawer will need more thought, and our general bricks/slopes sections will definitely need to expand.

Think its always been there? There is one in both westfields now.

Wish they'd bring something further west - Reading or Bristol would make sense.

I can't believe I lived around the corner from westfield for months and never noticed the lego store :\

I don't know when it opened but if you need to choose between the two I say Stratford is best.

Excitement!!!! Can't wait to start these.

Heh, bought exactly the same yesterday (as probably a lot of you guys did).

It's a shame the SSD is so fucking expensive where I live (Switzerland).

SSD: USD 650
Death Star: USD 760

No idea why the Death Star is even more expensive.

I have the previous x-wing so only need to buy the TIE, but I'd better build the x-wing first to check I have all the pieces

Yes there is a dial in the back you turn to open and close the wings, which are connected by little rubber bands.

I don't follow this thread close enough so forgive me if this has already been discussed but how do you guys feel about the new Legos that are for girls?

edit: I am having a baby girl in March and think these could be cool.

Duplo, man!

The friends LEGO (as with all LEGO) is awesome, but it may be a little too early for that. Duplo is the ideal entry point.

Surely Duplo is more appropriate for a baby?

Sorry I did not mean that I would be giving my baby actual lego friends sets.. I was just curious what you guys think about those sets and if they will keep making them?

isn't it a fairly new idea for lego? actually building sets for hair salons etc??

I'm considering buying these star wars kits as an investment. Not really that big of risk. But looking at the price of old sets on ebay I think I might buy a few of the hard to find ones before they stop making them. I mean I'd buy them and put them together but then take them apart and put them back in the box and throw them in the closet. I don't really have room for Lego models laying around my house.

My daughter loves the Friends sets, and she's 7. I highly doubt they'll still be around by the time your daughter is old enough. Something else will have cycled through. But you can buy them now and sit on them for a few years...

Grabbed a few more small sets the other day:

I do not recommend the Technic crane at all - its really shoddily designed (the tracks are loose and don't move properly) and it has very few pieces (64 of the 200 are the tracks). The car and mini-digger are neat though.

Now to grab a 1000+ piece set and some of those Lego cups next time I'm in Stratford

Does anyone know how long the SSD will be in print? I want to buy one but would like to hold off for a bit still.

If you're going to spend the money, SSD is your best bet then. I mean, the Death Star is a great model, but even from looking at it, you can tell it's meant to be played with.

The Death Star is like a collection of key scenes from the films, though. I need some more Imperial officers though, so I can find their lack of faith disturbing.

Usually stay in production for 2-3 years on the Star Wars stuff. I think it came out in 2011 so you should be safe for a while.

Sweet thank you! I will definitely buy it at Downtown Disney so I can save 10% with my Disney pass! I need to wait to get it until I have a place I can actually put it...

This is true, too. I mean, there's a lot going on in that model, so you have to take that into consideration as well. Also, Death Star will be going OOP before SSD will...

This thread is such a money drain, I was gona buy myself a present at the end of next month. I was thinking of a Vita but I have a iPhone, im already looking up Lego.
