I was finally able to make the trek to the KC Lego Store. Walked out with a few random things: Shelob, small cup of bricks, display with the blue space man, a couple of key chains and the Hulk giveaway.
My son had a blast!

Too awesome, man. I'm jealous! I hope our first kid is a boy when we decide it's time! :-X

Here's a kinda random question. When you enter those PotC card codes from the On Stranger Tides sets, it takes you to a video or something that shows you how to MOC a Tortuga set, right? Or did I only make this up in some odd fever dream..? Anyone know where I can find that video, without having to go through LEGO for it?

It's Sopwith Camel week!

Available this Friday at your favorite LEGO store, or at LEGO.com.

Also starting this Friday, with a $75 purchase, you get the mini-version:

I'm planning a bunch of pickups on Friday (beside the planes), including the rest of the Monster Fighters sets (no Zombies yet though) and the Creator Seaside House!

I was looking forward to the Camel until I read it has stickers. I know I'll mess them up as I always do and I don't want to pay a lot just to have the stickers uneven.

How much is it going to cost any way?

Just built the Urak Hai Army set. Took me longer than I thought it would, but still a fun little set. I have the Mine and Shelob left and Helms for my birthday to put together.

Sorry about the iphone pic.

Question: How do I go about getting a replacement sticker sheet? Is there a way to do it on the LEGO Web site?

I have a mid-scale Millennium Falcon that I bought used (got a great deal), and the stickers were applied askew. I'd like to get a new sheet to apply straight.

I think tomorrow I will begin my MOC for a modular building using mostly Tower Bridge for parts. Already decided I will use Apple Tree House for many things, especially the roof and long beam bricks. Debating about grabbing another Apple Tree House tomorrow just for more longer beam bricks, but dont think I need that many dark blue roof pieces.

One of the Zellers locations started its liquidation the other week, although I didn't buy any Lego as it was only the initial 20% off and their selection kind of sucks anyway.

I stopped back there today and it's still 20% off, but I decided to see how much of the Lego section was left intact.

Half of the goddamn aisle was gone. Zellers prices all their Lego at MSRP and 20% off is nothing (Toys R Us seems to have one or two Lego lines at 20% off every week and their regular prices are the same) so I have no idea what people were thinking. The only one I sort of kicked myself about was the X-Wing, which I guess at $75 less 20% is an acceptable deal. But even it was the same price at Toys R Us a few weeks back.

I'll see if there's anything decent left when the discount hits 60% (doubt it) and just save my money for the Sopwith and Minecraft set, if I can find it anywhere in Canada at least.

Anyone know if this is the same in the uk? Free mini plane and new creator sets? Last Friday there was no sign of the creator sets in the London store. Curious about the seaside house to go with the lighthouse, and the new truck

I'm tempted to get an apple tree house just for parts. Model itself doesn't inspire me, much prefer our old town house. But amazon have it at 30% off, and at that price the bricks are cheaper than buying from bricklink

then go for it, its a nice little house that I will be disassembling soon for my moc'ing endeavors.

I thought it would be $74.99 due to the $75 promotion.
Wha? I hope you are right. Becuase I will most definitely buy one if so. At $99.99 I'm having some reservations... it's a LEGO store exclusive, right? So you'll pretty much never be able to find it on sale... sigh... I have to dig deep into my heart and think about this :)

Lego Exclusives tend to show up at online retailers like Amazon after a couple months. It took awhile for Amazon to sell the Kingdoms Joust set.

R2D2 bargain in Australian Target
Shopping news (Australia) Posted by Huw, 29 May 2012 06:17

Alepou emailed with some great news for Aussies: "I found the new R2-D2 set at retail store Target tonight here in Melbourne! It was at a shopping centre called Northlands.

"Target is running a 20% off Lego special which ends on Wednesday. RRP was $249.00 AUD so with 20% off it worked out at $199.20."

Here's a picture of it on the shelf. It sounds like a bit of a bargain: I don't think it's available at that level of discount anywhere else in the world.

Due to the overwhelming feedback I've got a couple more custom minifigs for feedback, first is my joker with my torso design photoshopped over the top to see how it looks, anyone got any suggestions for improvements?

And second is my venkman with my face design photoshopped over the top, thoughts?

those of you looking at stands for planes and x-wings etc, check out this lego web tip -

simple but pretty effective. You could experiment with different angled technic pieces to adjust the angle of the model.
that is quite neat :)

You sound surprised that people go ape shit crazy for Lego sales. ;) At 20% retail, I'd also pick up a bunch of sets I was on the fence for!

My little Technic order should be here tomorrow! I still haven't ordered my big set yet, though...Waiting for free shipping is zero fun. I need to just make a trip to the Lego store and buy it there. :|

My only suggestion is that it should already be in production. And reminds me that as much as I like the current crop of cartoony/comic based Batman sets, I would love some based on the BB/TDK/DKR movies.

Kinda like the difference between the movie SW sets and the Clone Wars cartoon SW sets.

doesnt look like instructions to me, anyway that set is of sooo little interest to me, I think it looks terrible...

Yeah, I hate to agree here, but I have to. I tried to get excited, but I can't. The ONLY thing that gives it any merit is that it gives a lot of 1x1 blocks and tiles to do some neat microscale building with. Otherwise, it's just a hype train to me. :\

the other ones I liked were Jamie showing how to make columns.

this one - link - shows columns similar to the Town Hall

this one - link - shows rounder columns

Awesome, thanks. One of the other ones I saw had tips on how to do furniture-great tips. I'm going to need to invest in a lot more pieces than I already have though.

yup, I love(d) minecraft and love lego but I have no interest in that set

I thought I was doing OK at the custom thing until tonight when I saw this guy's stuff...

Just watched Jamie talk about the brick separator. "I know this sounds like an infomercial, but I swear I don't get a commission!"

In the past I have used other bricks or plates in place of a separator. I only got my first one about a year ago when I got the first MBA kit. Also got one of the new orange ones in my Weathertop set. Still, even though I have a couple of them now, it's just so easy to fall back to the old techniques. Teeth, no. But prying apart with fingernails etc. still happens.

The minecraft set looks like it would be so much fun to build tiny landscapes with..... if I could afford to buy five or ten of them. Maybe I can afford just one or two someday.... Do we know how long cuusoo print runs are?

I need a mini brick separator keychain. Its the only way to make sure you always have one on you. Otherwise I'm inevitably playing with lego away from where the separator is currently hiding.

As an aside, I bought a folding aluminium camping table from Tesco at the weekend, its letting me sit to build rather than squatting on the floor which is much more comfortable. And it folds away so the wife doesn't get annoyed and stops me hogging the dining table.
