Damn you LEGO GAF, please stomp bumping this thread. I have a LEGO store very close by and the temptation is killing me.

I remember when this tread had only around 3,000 replies a few months ago....

If there was a LEGO store nearby , I would visit it everyday

Hmm true hadn't noticed that.
Rather expensive, and no super special parts that I can see

Lighthouse Island - $39.99 for 518 pieces, including a light brick
Seaside House - $49.99 for 415 pieces with no obvious special pieces

Hmmm...

Anyway, I am seriously going ahead in my attempt to create a Futurama CUUSOO, but I'd really like a partner to help me with the design and implementation of the idea. Anyone interested in giving it a try? Something like Planet Express HQ, or the Planet Express ship? Or a combination of the two? A LEGO Scruffy? The janitor. Hit me up in PMs!

If there was a LEGO store nearby, I'd apply part time for nights and weekends. :P

No not really actually. In fact they should just give you the discount.

But it made me think... If you order/buy something worth X and get a special figure (like the hulk or that TC14) and then you return that order unopened... do you have to return that special figure too?

If the bonus is listed as an item on the receipt (I believe TC14 was) then you'll have to return it as well or they won't take the item back.

Today's haul!

Very happy with the R2, Sopwith Camel, Seaside House and Big Ben purchases. The store had a completed Sopwith model on display and it looks GREAT, bigger than I expected!

I was not a huge fan of the Monster Fighters range when I first saw them but they look pretty cool in-store. The Mad Scientist lab is great. My gf really wanted the Vampyre House so that's the one we got to start with.

I had no idea there was an Iron Man kit. It's almost all special pieces and doesn't really look like LEGO but it looks awesome anyway and I love Iron Man so for $15 I couldn't say no.

Our cashier was kind enough to ring up the whole haul as multiple transactions so we wound up with FOUR Sopwith minikits :)

That's a great haul - highlights from a bunch of different themes!

Whitta my Lego store is across from my apple store, I await the day when my apple purchases sync up with my Lego purchases an I will call that pulling a double Whitta.

Lol that ship is so bad. You can only recycle the same designs so many times. I do kinda like the Fury though, but it is just a squished Interceptor.

Is it at the Hillsdale Mall? The LEGO store we go to there is directly across from an Apple store. It's like a fucking Shangri-La.

My son wanted that Iron Man. Gotta say, I wasn't interested in those sets but they are actually pretty neat. The connections are all like ball joints so it's very pose able, and pretty resilient. Pieces snap back on very easily. A very simple build but looks good and a good playability as an action figure for kids.

Seems like today was the day to go to the Lego store. I picked up:

- Town Hall
- Camper Van
- VIP mini-figs
- Mini Sopwith Camel

Will post pictures of the haul later.

Damn Gary, great work. I was more impressed with some of the Monster Fighter sets too once I saw them in the store. Let us know how you like the R2 build!

Loving the R2 build so far - just the head to go. Lots of care and attention has clearly been spent on the design. The legs are fantastic.

The Camel is really a surprisingly good-looking model in person, it makes me want lots of other classic aircraft models. Off the top of my head I'd love a Spitfire and a UCS Air Force One!

A spitfire is quite curvy though, might be difficult to really pull it off in Lego. But I'd love some WWII era planes. Spitfire, Me109, mustang, P41, Lancaster bomber etc

Oh man yeah, a UCS Lancaster would be AMAZING. Or a B-52 Flying Fortress.

In other news, I think the Vampyre Castle might be the most popular Monster Fighters set, it was the only one in short supply on the shelf. I think we got the last one (although they probably had more in the back). Definitely going back for the Mad Scientist Lab, it has a light-up brick that beams into Frankenstein's head! I like that series more than I thought I would.

Has anyone built the Camel yet? Looking at it now it appears there's quite a bit of cord running through the model that looks very fiddly!

While out today I grabbed ten more series 7 figs. Got another Red Riding Hood (urgh. That gives me 3 :( ), 2 more hippies, 2 more computer nerds (4 total now), another Space Marine(3 total, but I wanted more), and finally new figs: Tarzan, Viking Woman, and 2 punk rocker chicks. Now all I am missing for series 7 is the bride but in no rush for the figure. One bride from Town Hall is enough.

Went to my local Mueller today but didn't find many bargains. Most stuff was on MSRP and and in this fact not much better that the prices found on www.brickbadger.com.
Got five Series 7 Minifigures (2x Space Marine, Black Knight, Valkyrie, Bride) for 2€ each and was lucky to find a reduced 7985 Atlantis Temple for 32€ between the shelfs :)

the 20% came off at the cashier! oh well by the time I arrived all the shelves were almost empty, not much stuff left - plus they didnt even have the monster fighters sets yet ... ended up with some small friends sets instead

At our LEGO store there is a "Minifig Whisperer" who, if you ask him nicely, will feel out the bags and tell you what fig is inside each one.

Do you want me to pick you up something?

Thank you for the offer, but I'll just have to grin and bear it. I did just spend £50 on Lego the other day and while that may be small change compared to some of the other purchases in this thread, it's quite a bit for me. Shame. Could have been a good opportunity to get the Camper Van.
