My biggest regret is I didn't rediscover legos early enough. I purchased fire brigade and it was awesome. I will get the other sets before they go OOP. The problem is I dont have market street, Corner shop or Green Grocer. I will make them mine at some point. I keep watching ebay. If I have to buy an old used set without a box that's fine. But I will have these sets. Everyone says brinklink the sets but I haven't gone down that path yet.
Market street I could care less about. But cafe corner and green grocer would be really nice to get, but those prices and the hassle of brick linking them just turns me off. I am fine not having them. Will just have to continue building my own city street.

Still need to finish the brewery. Gotta incorporate some of the colors from those Friends sets I got into my sweet shop. And last two days I have been eyeing all the LOTR sets and will probably tear those down for another building.

They did the basketball set years and years ago with ACTUAL basketball players. They were the spring loaded guys and you played basketball with them on a court. I always wondered how that line went...I think they had soccer and hockey, too?

If LEGO did the entire BBall 5 man team sets, like the Lakers or Bulls, I would go completely broke.

There was a table at the Chicago ComicCon that had build a minifig for $3. Out of the thousands of bodies there were a few spring loads. I was able to score a D.Rose figure.

That's fantastic - those are the ones! I'm not sure how long they've been out of commission, but a little Google magic could probably learn me.

Yeah, they didn't do teams I don't think - it was mainly just "super stars". But if they did them now and brought that concept back? Oh man, I'd have SO many teams.

I would buy the spurs set so i could have shelob torture Ginobili and Parker for all eternity.

Lol who am i kidding they'd only make a 5 man spurs team if they were comprehensively doing all teams. Timmy ain't what he used to be and even when he was , the years the spurs were in the finals always had the lowest ratings.

Oh, what a glorious day, just got these from local seller (new, slightly damaged boxes):
9492: TIE Fighter
5892: Sonic Boom
$60 for both.

Damn, that's a fraking steal!

I built the Sonic Boom over last weekend and it is indeed a glorious set. And I have the Tie Fighter at home right now, I may go try build on my lunch break in a few minutes...

Oh, dear... I'm contemplating making the modular plunge. This is something I told myself I wouldn't do.. The sets appeal to me, obviously, they're beautiful and they're huge. They're aimed at older builders. I was able to resist. But I just finished reading Johnathan Bender's LEGO: A Love Story, and reading about Jamie Berard and the Green Grocer and seeing how much it sells for now... I don't want to regret missing so many sets like that in the future. I'm checking everywhere to see if I can score a good deal on the Fire Brigade, because I know that'll be the first to go OOP. I really would like to avoid tax and shipping. That points to Amazon.

Fire Brigade for $122.98 on Amazon Warehouse

Stopped at Wally World...err, I mean Wal Mart to see if anything was on clearance. Of course nothing was, but they had the Spider Man set. I was VERY tempted. But I must be strong and save for Haunted House!

But then I stopped by Barnes and Noble and they had the POTC London Escape and Alien Conquest Mothership sets for 30% off. That was VERY, VERY hard to ignore and walk away from. I might go back and snag the mothership though, as that is the best deal I have found it for in person. I always missed the good discounts on it at Target.

I just got an email coupon from B&N yesterday for 15% to 50% (you don't know the discount until you use the coupon). I know they don't work for LEGO sets online, but they usually work in-store.

I did try and use the coupon while at the store. It was only for 20% off. If it was 50, I was going to get the Fury Interceptor. Of course, that coupon on the alien mothership would have been smarter.

I would go with the Alien Mothership over the London Escape. With the mothership you get those lovely small-gauge rail tracks, lots of great colors and a sound brick. The London Escape set is underwhelming IMO, with the "pub" more of just a facade than a building.

Hrm...I did not get on yet. Maybe sometime this week it will arrive (I hope).

If I get lucky and I get 50% off, Haunted House will wait, as Robie House would be mine!

All right then, here is my Olympic team
I just went out and bought gandalf returns just for the horse xD

The entire collection so far

And I still have a few frames left ^^

My wife, daughter, brother and I are heading down to Toronto tomorrow for Fan Expo (basically Canada's version of Comic-Con). LEGO Master Builder, Dan Steininger, is scheduled for an appearance at 5:00. I'll take pictures and file my report sometime tomorrow night or Saturday. Not sure what he's going to be doing, but we'll find out! We're also hoping to see John Rhys-Davies, Jamie Bamber and Kevin J. Anderson. We were hoping to see many other guests, but they seem to be scheduled for appearances on the other days we won't be there.

It's funny that everybody started talking about Ninjago finally! I literally just finished building Destiny's Bounty. Cool build. Not as big as the Pirates ships, but there was a fair amount of variety in the build and it's a unique-looking design with a Chinese junk aesthetic. Seems really, really fragile for a playset though. Two minutes after giving it to my daughter, she broke off one of the fins from the back of the ship. It would be great as a display piece though.

We've only watched the first 4 or 5 episodes of the Ninjago series, but it's been a lot of fun to watch so far and my daughter wants to keep watching more. We've also bought several spinners and the cheap plastic arena for dueling. The spinners themselves are a little tricky to operate and the outcomes of battles seem to be totally dependent upon random luck. But it's still fun to play and collect all the characters. We just grabbed that Lloyd Garmaddon the other day and my daughter and I now substitute the word "Lord" with "Lloyd" whenever we can, just like they did in the Ninjago cartoon (eg- "Lloyd Vader... rise."). Yes, it's fun having a five year-old!

Already have Helm's Deep. :)
Oh I meant for people not like London Escape because the house is just a facade, it could be added to the inside wall of Helms Deep. I think it would fit nicely to add some interior structure. The carts would fit in with the movie scene of all the peasants riding inside. If I saw it discounted enough I'd probably grab it for that.

Nice, I've been trying to figure out what to do with my Olympic ones, I was tossing up between a somehow Lego made Olympic rings or just a logo printed or a sticker in the middle.

I'll have to grab a photo of mine on the wall, I've gotta knock up my LOTR one (maybe tonight) I've been sick with the flu all week and haven't had the energy :(

That waterfall into the pond into another waterfall is nice.

Someone should do a MOC of Ravensholm. I haven't seen any Half Life MOCs.

Do Lego sets ever show up early? The Haunted House set is the first set I've ever REALLY had to wait for and I REALLY want it. Lego.com says it will be available September 1, but does that mean I can walk down to my local Target/Walmart/Toys R Us and find it on that day? Or, is that just the first day it will show up on their website?

Sets always show up early. Except the exclusives like this one. Lego store only.

At least one lucky bastard got it early by Lego error:

Read from post #399 down.

But otherwise, I only started seeing most of the Monster sets at Target/Walmart a couple weeks ago. Not that I scope out the Lego section every week...not every week.
