Spider-man set is mine...

For all you mini-fig collectors, Best Buy will shortly be getting the LEGO City Undercover pre-order cards, and apparently the figure will be attached.

Aquaman is so so mine. Someday I'll have a whole Justice league..... oh yeah there was a thread about the film actually getting off the ground right? cool, I'll get stuff then.

still a damn shame that arkham is gonna ream my wallet out so hard.

New Awing is great, so much better than the previous versions.

As for the awing being tiny, well yea its in scale with the other fighters kits. The A wing is supposed to be smaller.

One thing that I had not noticed on the new fire helicopter earlier was the winch powered by by some new kind(?) of power functions brick. Has anyone seen that piece before?

EDIT: It turns out that it is not a new element - the winch brick has been in 2 creator sets previously and in the City Coast Guard Helicopter.

Is that nick fury in that spiderman set?

I'll probably pick that and the Arctic batman sets up as they look about on par price wise with the avengers jeep and wolverine chopper sets and both come with some cool minifigs.

Yes, that is Nick Fury (at least the movie-looking-version) in a flying SHIELD car.

If there isn't a god damn DC Flash lego set next year, I'm quitting my job.

Not really, but Aquaman before Flash? :(

How are the Lego City sets and what are the better ones found in stores? Are they aimed more towards kids?

The City sets are the backbone of the LEGO product and consistently one of their top sellers.

If you are strictly talking about the City theme, then it will depend on your tastes. Do you like Firefighters or Police? City has got lots of those. However they also have more niche products, like the Space Centre from last year. 2012 saw the release of a great series of vehicles.

If you are willing to include the Creator and modular sets in this line, then your options widen considerably to things like 2000+ piece buildings with tons of character, advanced build techniques, and little details all over.

The basic city sets are targeted towards children by LEGO, hence the 5-12 age on the front of the boxes, whereas the modular buildings are rated 14+. However, pieces are just pieces, and while I may pick up a City set to add to a modular display I am assembling, someone like PhoncipleBone would see a collection of unique elements to add to his latest MOC idea.

The key to LEGO is simple - buy what you like.

Don't get me wrong, I'm getting this, but it feels so random that it's hilarious.

"Let's make a Batman vs Freeze set! It's Batman vs Mr Freeze... but Mr Freeze is cold, so he's got to be ARTIC Batman... and I guess ice is just frozen water, so let's put him in a BOAT... and if we're talking water, we need AQUAMAN, yeah! That works!"

Not feeling those chima sets. And I wish lego would stop using those horrible rubber tracks ios many sets. They're ugly, difficult to store, and tend to warp

I will admit it. I have eyed the City Police Station just to get the large frosted window pieces and the garage doors. Soon...

Haha, I'll just think of it as a bad ass Brave and the Bold episode!

Attn: Canadians

Toys R Us is having a 50% off sale on Pharoah, Atlantis & Alien Conquest sets.

I just got this (and the free bonus Zombie car) for SIXTY dollars. For you non Canadians, that's an insane deal. 879 pieces.

The Mothership is for sale for $30...kind of regretting not getting it now.

The Earth Defense HQ is a fraking brilliant set! It's easily my favorite original set in decades.

Just got back from Mall of America, and I hit up the lego store pretty good. Did 10 pick a brick cups to start my model, and ended up with over 5,500 pieces (4500ish bricks & plates, rest studs and small extra pieces) in 10 pick a brick cups. Stacking worked in my favor! Also got 2 sets and a create your own minifig kit while I was there.

was just about to order the death star and now they no longer give the free silver chrome T robot thingy -.-

it's just a character from the shitty phantom menace anyways. A chrome female protocol droid isn't anything to get excited for unless you wanted to sell it. It's like $25 on bricklink.

true, but if I am spending 400+€ on LEGO I need the feeling of getting something extra :p

The bonuses are nice. The last time I went, they gave the little sopwith camel plane as a bonus, and it made me want the big set at some point.

You get VIP points that add up and I hear it's a fun set to build. I'm not really into play sets though, but sometimes the fun of the huge sets is in how fun they are. I spent like $900 bricklinking the UCS millennium falcon just for the experience.

oh I bet, it must be terribly satisfying :)

I must be the only one that likes the city vehicles.

I'm also a fan of the LEGO Great Vehicles subtheme - I've got the Garbage Truck, Ambulance, Car with Caravan, and Tipper Truck from 2012. Both of the 2013 entries look great, and there is a third one we don't have pictures for yet - the Octan Tanker Truck.
