I want to know, if they plan on releasing a box set of the three Extended Editions, how much it will cost.

I picked up Two Towers on the cheap and it might be cheaper to buy the set than ROTK and FOTR separately.

Hyped.

Didn't you already make a thread about this, albeit with less detail?

Anyway I want to know the same thing as Memles.

I gotta imagine that listening to Gollum on a commentary would get old after the first 10 minutes. It's kind of a funny gimmick, but for 4 friggin' hours....?

From listening to the cast commentary on Fellowship...they don't really talk that much individually.

Give us a trailer or something already, dammit! (Besides the hard-to-see ComicCon footage with the 10,000 screaming fangirls)

December is so far away. :(

I really hope I'll have money for the gift set come December... otherwise I'm gonna have to settle for the regular EE. I only have the regular EEs for FotR and TTT simply because I didn't care for bookends or the Gollum statue, but the stuff in RotK gift set are damn sexy.

Anyone got a pic of the statues that come with it?I liked the FotR's bookends, but the Gollum statue was ass.I still bought it though :p

I'll buy it because I'm a completist, but it was by far my least favorite of the series. I hesitate to even say it was anything more than an average blockbuster. Fellowship is the only one I could say was great.

That Minas Tirith minature is very sexy, but I also really want the Minas Morgul one:

Anyone know how to get it? Are there going to be two different versions of the EE gift set? Or what?

Maybe the EE will change your mind? :) The EEs almost feel like different films.

It's the same thing as the 'Get Smeagol, Buy Gollum-deal' from the Two Towers gift set. If you buy the ROTK EE gift set you get a special coupon that lets you purchase the Minas Morgul statue online.

well not really...yet
For TTT, all the EE did was make it even more excruciating to sit through. FOTR is the only one worth its salt in my mind now, magnificent in almost every way, but I think the EE WILL help ROTK as the Theatrical version feels incomplete but on the other hand, 4 hours -_-

It could solve some of my problems, but no amount of additional footage will solve other issues I have with it. There are some nice scenes though, and some of the background stuff is cool. It's not like I'll feel like I'm throwing my money away, but it's not something I'm anxiously awaiting by any means either.

My favorite thing about the EEs is the Appendices discs, I just LOVE THAT SHIT, more so than the extended scenes.

Oh and I agree with the gentleman who said FotR is the best.

There's something about the last few Holiday season that made it memorable. I'm thinking the Lord of the Rings movies added something to it. This is the "last" one.

You know, the lengths of these films are really a double-edged sword. On one hand I want to see as many scenes and details from the books in there as possible, and I love the movies so much that when I watch them I never want em to end...

But then on the other hand... it sometimes can be hard to watch any movie for that long, no matter how good it is. Or to just FIND the time to watch them. =/ I have a hard time bringing myself to skip scenes to make the time.

Oh well... I usually have the films on in the background while playing MMOs. ;)

I disagree with you both (Prefer ROTK) but agree on the discs...I LOVE the scripting as well as the filming documetaries. Hearing the stories (Like the spontaneous camp-out that Viggo proposed to get a single sunrise shot) just rocks.

Hell yeah, I spend hours upon hours watching all the extra goodies in the EEs. :D

Here are some better pics of the statues:

I believe that the Howard Shore: Creating the LotR Symphony DVD is only available with the box set as well. It clocks in at 52 minutes and has a performance with the Montreal Symphony.

I thought you might be referring to that, but I never seen them referred to as MMOs, always MMORPGs :p

Agree completely. Return of the King had me checking my watch countless times in the theater wondering when it would end.

OMG!!! I have the gift set of the first two films (I have yet to even take Gollum out of the TTT box though as I can't figure out how to do it without tearing the box to shreds), but the ROTK gift-set looks absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I'm soooooooo getting it the day of release!!! :D :D :D

Awesome.

My (old) friend sold my EE versions of Fellowship and TTT for drugs, so I guess I'll wait until the trilogy set comes out.

+1 box set :D

They could do something like what happened with Jurassic Park. In the box for JP3 was a mail order for a box for all 3 movies.

That boxset rocks, but i already have the first 2 extended editions. Not the ones with the bonus gifts either, as i was too tight to pay the extra as it was.
