The "my pre order vendor f*cked my Switch release day delivery" thread

If amazon messed up on switch orders why did they reopen them today (for neon)? Was able to get one with free one day delivery.. status says "Shipping today, arrives tomm". Hmmm.. wonder if it'll get delayed like most peoples did.

incompetence probably?

Not to freak anyone out but I would stay on top of tracking via UPS on their website. I ordered some stuff and saw the truck come and go all day and after 5pm I went online and it said "business/residence closed."

The jerk driver didn't want to have to make a stop cause he was busy so rather than do his/her job, they just put it in the system that they "tried" to deliver but I wasn't home. BULLSHIT. I was sitting at the window all damn day. I called and raised hell. Had the manager pull my package from the truck when they guy got back and went to the plant to pick it up. I heard the driver get yelled at as I was leaving...Sucks, but sorry man, do your job or find another one.

I live in Columbus and it's been as boring a day as possible weather-wise. No precipitation, no wind... it's not even all that bright outside. If it makes you feel any better (and it probably won't), my Switch is also stuck in Columbus. It's been in town since noon and UPS informs that that's where it will stay until they get around to delivering it on Monday.

Ah. Well that sucks. And makes no sense at all. They won't let you pick it up from the facility?

Don't see myself preordering any Nintendo products on Amazon at launch ever again. Glad that I got mine last night at a Best Buy, but I gave my Amazon preorder to someone else and it still hasn't shipped.

Contacted Amazon CS and they said Zelda would arrive tomorrow(office is closed tomorrow, so I won't get it until Monday.) Thanks for nothing jerks. The order page still says it's arriving today / shipping soon. What a joke, did Nintendo barely send their shipment to Amazon yesterday or what the fuck.

Amazon was the only retailer to cancel a lot of their master editions at the last minute. They are also the only major retailer seemingly having problems shipping these out and are doing so at the last minute, often day of. While its possible that Amazon got screwed by Nintendo the common denominator here is Amazon themselves. B&M retailers had their stock for days. Given that they are largely using their own service to deliver (Amazon Logistics) it sounds to me like the decided to do everything themselves as cheaply as possible rather than hand things over to UPS/USPS/FedEx.

Never doing this with a system order again.

One thing that is good, Amazon is taking a beating over this everywhere online. On their twitter feeds as well. Lots of future prime dollars being removed from their coffers. I am generally happy with their service but this has been so badly mishandled that I can't forgive it. I would rather they give me a tracking number and say sorry it won't be to you until next Wednesday instead of never updating me at all about it unless I pester them in chat. And then I think they lie when they say it will be to you by 8pm. I have seen that literally 1000 times for other people as well. It just can't be done without a carrier like UPS or USPS doing the delivering for them for all these same day stops.

Nope. Believe me, I asked. The UPS distribution center is a pretty short drive and I was more than willing to make it, but the phone rep said it was "impossible." So yeah. It's going to sit on a truck all weekend while I sit on my hands.

Not really a delayed order, since I didn't expect my Target order would arrive on launch day, but will have to wait until Monday to get my hands on the unit. Have Zelda and pro controller from BB coming in tonight, meh.

Well, I am sorry for you. And probably myself because if they're saying yours won't arrive until Monday, I don't expect mine until then either.

Playasia put my order of a switch and Zelda on hold. Apparently they were supposed to get the NA version of the game but now they only have the Asian version.

I informed them that I don't mind which version I get. I just want the order to ship damn it.

I'm utterly amazed that my console was delivered from Amazon without any problems.

It's pretty amazing that so many issues seem to be out of SoCal as well. I would guess shipments came into Long Beach and their ability to get items delivered the same day seems to be at odds with their service on this.

whelp... ordered off amazon 2 hours ago when they put up neon ones for like 5 mins.. just changed to On The Way with a USPS tracking number (NJ here).. so sorry to those who are having issues with Amazon Prime.

You know, I'm upset with my delay to my switch, now arriving Monday. I would understand it if I were in the later batches of pre-orders. But I pre-ordered on Jan 13th (I know I know....no guarantee of where you are in line, etc). What really irks me is that:

A) Amazon didn't communicate diddly squat. I had to constantly refresh my orders page the past couple of days and up until 10 am this morning to get any kind of update. Then I find out it's arriving on Monday. Even then, no email, no nothing saying there is a delay for an item I pre-ordered with release date delivery.

B)The switch isn't being fulfilled in one of many Amazon fulfillment centers in PA, it's coming from New Jersey. Ok fine, it's coming from Jersey....not that far away right? You would think the arrival time for the package would be on Saturday, not Monday! Last tracking info for my package has it sitting in Edison, NJ since it's arrival at 11am.

I'm sitting here with Zelda BOtW, a pro controller, charging joycon controller and a Samsung memory card....just twiddling my thumbs. I have Horizon Zero Dawn to play, but come on Amazon/UPS.....

Yeah I know....could be worse, blah blah blah.....

Yup, somebody is getting cursed out

Edit: I'm so envious of you all who have actual updates lol

For others in Amazon limbo, do you guys have pending charges on your Cc too?

Yes. Charges are from March 2nd for both Zelda SE and Switch.

I just got off the phone with Amazon CS and despite being one of the first to pre-order it at midnight after the Switch reveal I will not be receiving a unit until maybe next week. No compensation. No idea when it will officially ship. This is true of both Zelda SE and a gray Switch console (separate orders.) I am in the SF bay area if that means anything to anyone.

My friend on this board, Mejilan, who pre-ordered the following day from Amazon on their second round of pre-orders got everything today including his Zelda Master Sword edition. He is in the NYC area.

My Switch is ok I think, but I'm pissed off at Gamestop (shocker).

I had preordered a Zelda+pro controller bundle and I honestly don't remember if I chose delivery or in-store pickup, but the order itself said both. It made no sense.

I was able to secure the controller elsewhere, so I called their customer service to cancel a week or so ago. I was told they couldn't "see" the order because it was in-store pick-up so I had to call the store. When I called the store I was told that they couldn't see it, so I had to contact customer service online. I e-mailed them and was again told they couldn't do anything.

Welp they shipped it overnight and charged me $10 for shipping.

Got my Switch just fine, but I ordered the official Nintendo case/screen protector from Walmart, and it's always said "Arriving by March 3". In fact, it still says "Arriving by March 3". However, when I do tracking it says the package is in Ohio as of this morning (I'm in New York), so somehow I doubt it's getting here by the end of the day.

Amazon CS rep was able to get my switch scheduled for delivery for tomorrow.... Of course, I don't have a tracking number so I'm already skeptical. They weren't able to change the shipping on Zelda for some reason. Went to Target and bought a copy at full price. I'll return the Amazon one to Target whenever it arrives.

God this is such a terrible user experience.

My vendor (Fnac) did his job, sending the hardware wednesday, and my preorder was ready for pickup this morning, but opening hours were 10:00-19:00 and I left for work at 6:15 and came back at 21:00. That's harsh :/

(I considered collecting it near work, but since I have ~3h time from house to work, if it were late, I would have had to wait monday... at least, I can collect it tomorrow)

Thanks to those who confirmed they got the charges on the card too. I'm going to stop trying to figure this fiasco out, it's making my head spin with all the possible disasterous conditions. I will just expect the worst and wait for reply from CS rep.

Edit: Ugh... just saw the Pro controller on Amazon is in stock and grabbed it for free one day shipping. I don't trust in Amazon anymore but how hard could it be to deliver 3 items tomorrow? http://amzn.to/2lnrNy8

If this is the future of Amazon they are going to be in trouble. USPS delivered BOTW this morning at 9AM, UPS just made their usual stop a little while ago. If they spent a little more money and had given the product to an actual carrier rather than some dude that is gonna show up when the fuck ever in a 90's sedan this wouldn't be a problem. Have no idea why I am paying for Prime.

I don't know if this has been posted already but it looks like Amazon was selling Switches in their book stores and making it available through last-minute purchases on Prime Now...

LOL, that is such bullish*t. This will be the last video game related purchase I do through Amazon. So much for that awesome "release date delivery" eh, Amazon?

Best Buy seems to have their shit in order (and their gamers club is much better).

All the people bashing Amazon...I dunno. They have only very rarely fucked up anything I've ordered from them, and I use them a lot.

This reeks of Amazon taking the fall for continued Nintendo incompetence.

and yet most other retailers appear to be in the clear on their products and most complaints seem to be from Amazon orders. so the lynchpin here seems to be Amazon.

But here's the thing, it seems all those who are getting screwed are the ones who pre-ordered during the first wave hours after the presentation. Now we're hearing about people who ordered just hours ago are already receiving tracking numbers?

I feel for everyone going through BS with Amazon who don't have their Switches yet, but fucking lol @ the implication that this is going to ruin Amazon or somehow meaningfully impact the penetration of Prime memberships. It's not.

Yes this is totally on Nintendo for their incompetence not Amazon being the only retailer using glorified fucking UBER drivers to deliver products.

Came home from morning showing of Logan and no swifch, no carrier or shipping info yet either from amazon. Still says tonight by 8 but I'm starting to think that won't be the case.

I got mine from them around 1pm EST

Yeah, Amazon fucked me. Pre-ordered on 1/13, the status page consistently said that I'd get it today, then at 11:40ish today I get told that my order finally shipped and will get here Monday.

After asking them how the fuck they fucked that up they went on about how they fulfilled shit on a "first come, first serve" basis, which is particularly enraging when I look at the Amazon games twitter and see them going on about how you can get the Switch at their brick-and-mortar stores and on Prime Now earlier (including in THE CITY WHERE I FUCKING LIVE.)

Meanwhile, a guy at my work who ordered from Best Buy got his YESTERDAY.
