The Netflix Recommendation Thread of Dope Movies

I couldn't find any of the new shit on Netflix on my 360 last night. None of the Disney stuff, not Young Adult either. When was it all added?

It's always sunny coming on Dec. 8th!

Oh awesome! It's been up on the UK one forever, I wondered why it wasn't on the US one. Looking forward to getting back into it.

Yes, I can finally watch this! How funny is this show? I'm huge fan of The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Curb.

To me its hit or miss. Sometimes its really funny, sometimes its trying to hard to be offensive and shocking. Its certainly not as clever or as polished as the shows you mentioned.

I extremely recommend Always Sunny to everyone here. Been watching this show since season 2, and I even have all the DVDs. Best comedy since seinfeld.

Fact.

Awesome movie.

That image alone sold me, watched the trailer and now I must watch it.

Wish they'd put up Archer season 3 already.

This.

I've watched Season 1 and 2 a couple of times and have seen quite a few screens of 3 over the past year. I'm super pumped to see it but don't care enough to download it otherwise.

As a newcomer to the service, and as I didn't find any info on the website, I wondered how often are new films added and in what quantities, and is it similar to eg. PS+ service, that eventually older offerings will be removed, and if so what's the usual time frame for that?

It's random as shit, thanks to the vagaries and illogical coke fueled Hollywood legalese. Movies come and go, generally in clumps of sets of studios, and at any given time you have a huge selection of stuff, but it's a temporal snapshot and constantly shifting. There are several sites that track and predict changes, additions and subtractions. But goddamn is it bizarre. And not because Netflix wants it to be.

Fuuuu... I guess I'll have to watch those films I've postponed ASAP, before they'll be possibly removed. The thing is, I've used the service for just over a month, and I have no idea which films are old additions.

EDIT: I think this kinda goes against the idea of cloud service, where you have immediate and unlimited access to what's been offered. Especially as there are now deadlines visible for them.

Here's what's being added: http://instantwatcher.com/titles/new?view=synopsis&popups=1&infinite=0

Go to your instant queue on Netflix.com and any expiration dates will appear in the note column.

I started watching How I Met Your Mother recently, it's pretty decent. I still think Ted is the whiniest, most annoying character on television, but at least the other characters make up for it.

Guess I'll be watching Sunny when it hits as well.

So I noticed that Netflix has placed the Star Wars IV: A New Hope cover from the DVD up on their website (upper-right) hidden in an array of other movies:

Star Wars appearing on Netflix faster than we think or has that always been there I wonder?

The problem with It's Always sunny is the first 6 episodes the show was trying to be a modern type of Sienfeld. Just friends that are slightly neurotic and maybe just a little self centered, but mostly because they were worried about what other people would think of them.

The show really took off when they decided that the characters would be better if they were just full on sociopaths who were also slightly retarded and usually high or drunk on something. And adding Danny Devito just really brought the whole thing together. The episode where he drops acid is one of my favorites.

Is "Always sunny..." as good as Arrested Development?

They're very different. Keep in mind IASIP has been pretty consistently great for 8 seasons, where as AD was great for two and then went kind of downhill by the third season. I burned out on AD a long time ago while I'm currently hooked on IAS so it's hard for me to be unbiased. Once I'm done with these shows and the years have passed, I may look back on them and view AD a bit more highly since it's such a finely crafted and densely packed show. IAS is definitely up there though.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is one of my favourite comedies ever, for me it felt very fresh and intelligently done, it feels like it goes where other shows don't, but never does it just to get cheap laughs.

The Inbetweeners is another absolutely brilliant comedy from the UK that is a must watch.

I never watched It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia until earlier in the summer this year (not sure why, just never heard much about it), and it quickly became one of my favorite comedy shows ever.

I was worried I wouldn't like Danny DeVito when they added him, but he turned out to be amazing and a great addition to the group.

Lovely Molly is on the surface a horror film, but if you scrape away the veneer it's a genuinely clever and intriguing romcom.

I don't think it's anywhere near as clever, but it provided a really good ~4 seasons.

EDIT: I forgot the first seasons aren't in HD. I'm so spoiled.
I agree that Sunny isn't as clever. However, it'll give you bigger laughs I think.

Arrested is a funny and smart show and Sunny is a silly and funny show.
