Wow such a great movie, I appreciate it even more after I worked in an office. I know many times I wanted to beat the crap out of the printer...

On to the Quotes.

Drew: I'm thinking about taking that new chick from Logistics. If things go right I might be showing her my O-face. You know: Oh. Oh.

Dom Portwood: Hello, Peter. What's happening? We need to talk about your TPS reports.
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. The coversheet. I know, I know. Uh, Bill talked to me about it.
Dom Portwood: Yeah. Uh, did you get that memo?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy. The problem is, I just forgot this one time. And I've already taken care of it so it's not even a problem anymore.
Dom Portwood: Yeah. It's just that we're putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports *before* they go out now. So if you could just remember to do that from now on, that'd be great. All right!

Peter Gibbons: What would you do if you had a million dollars?
Lawrence: I'll tell you what I'd do, man, two chicks at the same time, man.
Peter Gibbons: That's it? If you had a million dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I had a million dollars I could hook that up, cause chicks dig a dude with money.

I love how Bill Lumberg and Patrick Bateman look -and act- incredibly similar. At first, I assumed Lumberg was a parody of the 80's hotshot boss with a bit of Bateman thrown in for good measure until I learned American Psycho was released after Office Space.

Patrick Bateman, allow me to introduce you to Bill Lumberg:

THEY LOOK AND ACT ALIKE, SHUT UP.

Michael: Why don't you just tell Anne you're not into hypnosis and you
want to play poker with us?
Peter: Ah, I can't do that. She might get all pissed off at me. Besides, I
think the guy might be able to help. He did help Anne lose weight.
Samir: Peter, she's anorexic.
Peter: Yeah, I know. The guy's really good.

The Digital Bits is reporting a rumor today that the special edition DVD is finally coming in November.

This is one of those movies that wasn't hilarious the first time I saw it, but it gets better with every viewing. Now it's one of my all-time faves.

Bill to Milton: Didn't I just fire you last week?

Or Bill to Peter: Hey Peter, I'm gonna need you to come in on Saturday, probably Sunday okay?

That rumor has been taunting me for at least 3 years. Do I get my hopes up again or dismiss it as impossible? =(

"Micheal Bolton and Samir Naga...Naga... I sentence you to a period of no less than four years in a federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison."

Another personal fave:

"Lawrence, when you come in to work and are having a bad day, does anyone say it sounds like you're having a case of the mondays?"
"No man. No...SHIT NO, MAN. I believe you'd get your ass kicked saying something like that."

there was actually an ad for it in a recent dvd release earlier this year, so i think its really finally coming.

Bob Slydell: For my money it doesn't get any better when he sings "When A Man Loves A Woman"

Michael Bolton: Uh, yeah, well, I work at Initech and I don't consider myself a pussy, OK?
Samir: Yes, I am also not a pussy.

SteveMeister

Hang out with Steve.
Afternoons when the weather's nice enough, a few of us walk "cross street" to a deli/convenience store in the office building across from ours. As we walk across the grass covered gulley, I am invariably reminded of the boys going to Tchotchke's for coffee.

Oh, and we also have someone at work who is EXACTLY like Lumburg in his mannerisms and speech.

Great movie.

My favorite:

Samir: No one in this country can ever pronounce my name right. It's not that hard: Samir Na-gheen-an-a-jar. Nagheenanajar.
Michael Bolton: Yeah, well at least your name isn't Michael Bolton.
Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.
Samir: Hmm... well why don't you just go by Mike instead of Michael?
Michael Bolton: No way. Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

I seriously love No-Talent Assclown. I used that as a name in online games for a while.

I saw this in the movies when it first came out, loved it then, loved it with each additinal viewing, but the movie only hit all-time great status once I saw it after working in an office setting.

Cheesy office events like "flip flop day", those "inspirational" banners that are more annoyng than anythng else, unorganized upper management who seemingly have no communication with each other, and most of all the tedium of ding the same shit every single friggin day.

Whenever I have an extremely day at work, a bottle of Vodka and my Office Space DVD makes things all better.

I love the part when Peter goes into the meeting with the consultants, wows them with a load of bs, and then he gets a promotion. There are so many real world parallels to this - it's incredible (and totally frustrating).

I think this scene does a brilliant job capturing how some people can get raises, promotions and even interpersonal respect by completely bsing people about "their work" and how challenging/important/indispensible it is.

The worst is when a peer or colleague raves about how brilliant or innovative a person is, and you know for a fact that everything that "superstar" does is total bs.

goddamit, Griese!
how can this have not been mentioned yet?

Peter Gibbons: So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.
Dr. Swanson: What about today? Is today the worst day of your life?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah.

You have got to be kidding me.

A few jobs ago, I worked with a pretty cute writer's assistant who was completely obsessed with this movie. I spent most of my time trying to figure out how to *ahem* "deal" with her boyfriend.

Most of my favorite scenes have already been posted. It's just a great movie altogether.

I like how Office Space basically tanked at the box office and then has slowly built up a huge following. Only made $10 million or so when it was all said and done -- that's a pretty pathetic box office take. Luckily it took off when it hit home video and Comedy Central. :) When's that Special Edition coming, damnit?

No, you gotta learn how to deliver the funny in a much more obvious way. Sorry dude.
< / sarcasm >

Yeah, I love this movie. Saw it 1999 in theaters after I had just been hired by my current employer when we were on training for "new campus hires" (straight out of university). There was a group of 10 or so of us, and about half of us "got it" and the other half fell asleep. ASLEEP!! I was like "What we just watched was a truly accurate portrayal of what we will be doing for the forseeable future". They thought it was too "out there". Hallmark needs to make some "I told you so" e-Cards.

:lol Now this is funny on many levels (unintentionally I'm guessing).
