Nerevar said:on a side note, I hope they go HD with the Amazing Race soon. This is one of the few shows that would benefit from it dramatically. Although I'm guessing the constant travelling makes it much more difficult.
I think it is a cost issue, more than it is a logistical one, although that would also be the case. They're only handheld camera for the most part, so they probably try to keep it relatively cheap. I agree, though; the amazing vistas are a real appeal of the show, and seeing it in HDTV would be a real step forward. Very few reality shows are in HD...none, in fact, so I assume it is in fact the price issue.
The episode was a great one. The tasks were no more exciting than usual, but the idiotic mistakes from almost all teams made this thing an absolute hysterical piece of television.
The Yield
I'm so glad that the use of the yield was completely worthless. I still hate you, Yield.
But, in this case, it wasn't your fault you were worthless, it was all the fault of Adam and Rebecca. First off...why did they listen to Jonathan? They had no reason to yield at random. Really, they were so far behind that there was NO risk of Adam and Rebecca going at that point with them being as far behind as they were. They made a gut reaction. It's an idiotic thing, the yield, but use it well!
One Donkey, Two Asses
I noted that there was only one donkey, but I thought I was seeing things...and then it came true. I almost cried.
They weren't bad racers. They were simply annoying. Colin and Christie took it all so seriously and yelled at each other, but they weren't "Screechy" annoying but just frustrating in their antics. Jon and Victoria were simply screechy, annoying, and a pain in the ass to watch. I didn't find it funny...it was just plain old uninteresting after awhile.
I am glad to see them go, because now I really have no team I'm rooting against. No team that I will cheer their departure. I like that.
Adam the...wow
Dude...that was a really wimpy little temper tantrum. Kind of...well, wimpy. You mess up, you deal with it. But not like that.
This team sure made things interesting in the end of things. They had the entire yield period to do that task, and Freddy and Kendra still beat them. It created some serious tension, but Adam's mistake was just bad. Not on the level of the donkey, but still.
On the whole, the end of the episode kept shifting gears from guaranteed elimination to "Who the hell knows" and for that it was great reality television.
