The Official Fallout 3 thread of post-apocalyptic proportions!

Thanks for answering. I can see myself buying the goty edition as well. I got wanderers edition up and running and it seems awesome. I made my guy a former slaver. I was using fook before, but it just felt rediculously easy, even on hard with tough enemies mod. This feels a lot better. I do hope there are some cool weapons though.

One last thing. I coudn't find these files-

[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Anchorage.esp
[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC The Pitt.esp
[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Broken Steel.esp

I dled all the wanders mod files, but could not find them anywhere. Any idea where I can get them?

note: im not using the 5.0 version (the old version now unsupported) im using the Master release version which you need the both:

"FWE Master Release 1a - Main Files"
and
"FWE Master Release 1 - Assets"

those missin esps are in

_FWE_Master_Release_1a_-_Main_Files-2761.zip\FWE Support\Optional Mods\

Be careful using histories tho, stuff like slaver, and I think talon company can totally break main game progress as it'll put you into a faction that the "good guys" hate, hence you're fucked when it comes to "progress" i cant remember which one tho.

I used to be a "lesbian android" :lol , now "Im a middle of the road, lesbian politician".....:lol (by using the "seducing women" mod, it adds some of the sex stuff/new quests into fallout 3. Nothing is shown, just "sound effects", which can be hilarious if you fail the stat checks (like agility, endurance, etc, think "looney toons" sounds), sort of like the stuff was in Fallout 2.

Although no ball gag, or walking with a limp the "morning after with a super mutant", and no pornstar reputation , Kama Sutra, or gigolo perks like Fallout 2 had, Fallout 2 in general was pretty fucked up :lol , I cant wait till new vegas since its the same guys making that, that made 2, although im sure bethesda will reign them in :lol

I'm finding Point Lookout really refreshing after the really tight linear dlc before it, it's nice to be able to wander around again. I also really like the quest about the spy, it's neat they didn't highlight all the various locations you have to go to but instead make you find them for yourself through the audio recordings. I thought the
safety deposit box computer
was pretty cool.

Does the GOTY edition have a release date yet? When do they typically release those versions? I getting closer to beating the main quest, but still taking my time. I'd like to get Broken Steel for sure and probably more, but if it's going to be only a few months until GOTY I might move onto something else and pick that up instead to get everything at once.

edit: hmmm from reading the bethesda forums it seems that 1.6 maybe rectify the esp problems (I.E. Mods) that 1.5 brought about, we may not need the FO3Masterupdate.exe, step anymore. Also 1.6 breaks FOSE compatibility for now (im sure they will have an update FOSE very soon though).

I really wish they would go indepth with their changelogs, they say the do 1 thing but like 20 things "under the hood" are changed. Cmon guys be more "carmack" about these .plans :lol
cs....:lol

I actually am still on 1.0 so I don't need the masterupdater.:lol

I just wanted to know because I was planning on picking up all the DLC(except anchorage) and was hoping to skip any mod issues. I want to keep my high res textures dammit!

Why no more impressions about this DLC?

Too busy playing. :P

I just beat it, liked it a lot, and still have a lot to explore. Some of the voice clips the freaks have are priceless. :lol

As someone who spent the entirety of his time wandering through the wasteland, I've found Point Lookout to be oddly boring so far. Maybe it's because I know I won't randomly stumble across bobbleheads and cool stuff like that? I'm only about an hour and a half in, so I'm sure there's more to do. maybe it's because it's so small, I feel like I run into invisible walls after running in a direction for only a few minutes.

It's really fun. The map is a pretty decent size with lots of exploring to be done. The quests are pretty well varied and I didn't even mind the collectathon quest because the items for it were scattered everywhere.

Did you play any of the other DLC?

Really, really loving Point Lookout. It's very atmospheric and just overall really well done. It's also packed with content. I was exploring around near the Lighthouse and saw a boat offshore, swimming out to it I found
a freakin' Chinese submarine underwater! You can actually enter it as well, and,
well I won't spoil the rest of it.

I'm not done with it yet as I'm taking my time, but man I'm really gonna be sad when there's no more Fallout 3 DLC.

dont worry we have Fallout New Vegas coming in a little over a year!

this dlc is pretty sweet. I played it for about an hour so far and just spent it walking around and stumbling on stuff.. Just like fallout should be.

does anyone know what digging those loose sand things around the beachy areas does?

God's Beard said:
Yeah, all 3. Operation Anchorage was kinda tame, but I liked The Pitt and Broken Steel.
Ahh was just wondering, while it is a lot more limited compared to the wasteland, I'm just glad to be roaming again :lol

Wow thanks for reminding me to head back there, I was on the boat about the head back to the wasteland when I saw your post. It was the last location I had to find. I dug up all the sand piles and one of them (the last one? am I crazy or do new ones spawn as you dig them up?) had a footlocker with some ammo and cash in it.

Really enjoyed Point Lookout, probably my favorite part of the entire game. The deranged hick motif is so cool, had quite a few cool scares.

The more I get bored in the game, the more new thing I discover and hte more I continue to play. I'm not sure it's making any sens, but after a long play, I feel like bored so I'm about to turn off the console but I'm getting a new quest that sound awesome, or anything, and it always catch me back into the game for more. ALso, I finaly get how to repare my weapons. Can't believe how accurate they can be now :lol

Really liking Broken Steel so far, on the last quest of that chain now, looking forward to The Pitt and Anchorage over the weekend (will wait till they are done before getting Lookout)

I think (touch wood) that I fixed my quite often crashes by uninstalling Winamp, Vlc and any codecs bar my CCCP pack and excluding Fallout from ffdshow's list. I was getting odd crashes last night before I did that where the game would be running still, fans moving in the background of the scene etc, but I couldn't move the mouse or access any menus, forcing me to Alt-F4.

I managed a good hour of play after the changes before I quit, which annoyingly still forces me to end the game in Task Manager as it never quits properly which was apparently brought in with the patch that came with Broken Steel.

I don't know if my system is broken or if it's the PS3 version of Fallout 3, but I got 3 freeze in a two hours play... Hopefully, autosaves save my ass but it's really anoying to get the game freezing in battle.

Only on the main quest atm, this game is amazing.
True.

But you haven't seen anything yet. :D The huge, fully explorable world and the plethora of awesome side quests are what made this game my GOTY 2008.

I implore you to do other quests. You have no idea what you're missing out on.
When I say main quest I mean the original game. I'm doing the android quest and a little sidequest at Megaton. I like exploring and looting, sewers and stuff are a bit hit and miss. I'll peak in usually but never stay too long, I spent a good hour in the school outside 101 and didn't find it that rewarding.

Finished the Broken Steel quests last night, pretty good, managed to get to level 24. Game is still crashing *sigh*, maybe Carmack can pop over and code the next Fallout patch to give us some more stability :lol

Stupid PC version still doesn't alt-tab reliably. Every 3 or 4 alt-tabs, the game refuses to come back and I have to kill the process. This problem has been happening since the very first patch. Sigh.

Mine's crashing quite a bit too now.. and I don't really know why.

From what I've researched, it's just a general incompatibility with Windows 7?

well I got my new monitor

I went from 1024 x 768

fog1.jpg

to

1650 x 1080

and took the ugliest pic in fallout 3 possible! :lol

Yeah, sometimes this happens to me. Sometimes I can't alt-tab out at all, and it crashes reliably every time I try to exit the game in windowed mode.

Hey Zombie,

Do you feel that wanderers mod is really good? I'm still pretty new with it and have spent most of my time playing point lookout, but it seems kind of annoying. Tons of radiation damage, you die really quickly, and I was able to get a ton of damage on small guns at level 4 so I kill people with 1-2 shots. I may just restart vanilla, but I'm willing to give it a chance. Curious about your opinion.

Broken Steel > Anchorage > Pitt > Point Lookout.

Lookout is plain boring. It's cool that is open field, but most of location are nothing. Story / quest \ loot are very weak too. Kinda pathetic that all Fallout 3 combine DLCs < GTA 4 one DLC.

Also, on X360 256MB + 120 HDD, it seems like the more DLC added the more the game crashes / freezes on me. Started with BS, no problem. Then Anchorage, one or two crashes. Lookout, a few. Finally, the Pitt had >10. The game would start to slow downs & stutters before completely freezes. Happens randomly and restart / reload clears up the problem. Wondering if it's some sort of memory leak issue.

finished Point Lookout, went by much faster than I thought it would. Fairly enjoyable experience. still have The Pitt and Broken Steel to play through now.

Somehow, the game thinks I completed the "You Gotta Shoot Em In The Head" quest by removing the power armor I got from OA out from storage and adding it to my inventory. It gave me the achievement as well. Awesome.

point lookout got me to level 30. Now to finally do the broken steel quests.

gotta say I love the defender perk you get and the dismemberer
