The Official Fallout 3 thread of post-apocalyptic proportions!

Wait, what? I've never encountered him talking about the music either...

Yes, I remember on at least one occasion he announced "Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall" as a song from Ella Fitzgerald. I was wondering why he stopped after that one time.

Also, wanted to take this chance to say that I adore the soundtrack, but agree that it can definitely use more tracks.

Hmm....maybe certain regions have it up for now. commanderdeek-- where are you from?

Should only be up in the UK right now. I'll be posting some information on patches on bethblog later today.

I totally agree...and that got me thinking: I wonder if the radio is going to be present in the expansion. I mean, obviously GNR in Alaska wouldn't make any sense, but I do hope that we get some new music. Probably way too much to ask out of DLC, but I suppose that we can dream.

I saw that the DLC will cost $10 for 360. Has anyone heard about the cost for PC? Any concerns about downloading it, having to reformat and not being able to access it again?

Yeah, I've been googling; trying to find more information on the PC dlc but I can't really see anything. I was curious what the release date would be. Doesn't the 360 dlc come out in a few days?

it's nice for ps3 owners that trophies are mandatory next year because the way they handle it now is bullshit. If you've completed Fallout already and you want these, you either use a nice collection of neatly placed saves, or you're screwed and you have to spend a ton of hours getting these.

Yep, especially reaching lvls at different karma...that's gona be a bitch.

Does the game present a list of trophies and kind-of how to get them like 360 does with achievements? I've never bothered with trophies on a PS3 game before (the only one I even have with trophies is Uncharted.)

So I just got Protectron's Gaze from the Mechanist last night. Holy shit this is an awesome laser pistol. Makes me wish I had the gunslinger perk. 22 attack and I can get 6 VATS shots off. Between this thing and A3-21's plasma rifle, I don't think I need many small arms anymore.

Can I get some help in the mission "Those" with the fire ants?

I just
found his dad, told him about how he's dead. I stocked up on ammo and I can't seem to find the Metro station they're talking about.

Where is it?

Repeater, Xualong and a Combat Shottie say lol

HOLY FUCK THE NUKA COLA CHALLENGE CAN SUCK MY BALLS. WHY THE HELL DID I VISIT OLD OLNEY? I went to the Nuka Cola plant and the shipping log said Old Olney, Paradise Falls, and the Super Duper Mart. I went to Old Olney and fought 20 THOUSAND deathclaws. These bastards kill you with three shots! I have zero ammunition left. Zero. I have like 1 stimpack.

And to top it off I didn't find any fucking Nuka Cola Quantum! Where is it in Old Olney?

Grr.

lol when I did that I had three Quantums on me and 38 back in the fridge in Megaton. Ah the rewards for being a pack rat

when I went to old olney I had jericho wearing power armor equipped with the vengeance. I'd run in to a deathclaw, set em on fire with the flamer and let him handle the rest

Sinatar said:
You can only do this if you don't skip half the story by going to Rivet City before visiting three dog.

You can still do Galaxy News Radio if you went to Rivet City first. Though I missed out on that awesome setpiece and Colvin must have died cause he isnt in the Citadel. I think you can still do it even if you went straight to Vault 112

Claws only take 3-4 rounds of shottie or repeater to go down. Sentry Robots are hands down the worse enemy in the game if you arent melee, and even then you gotta close the distance.

well the different karma ones can easily be done by loading a level 7, 13 or 19 save, then doing the necessary good/bad deeds, finishing with the Big Town speech exploit: talk to the guy who had something with Bittercup and use the speech option. If your speech is high, you can keep bashing A, gaining experience. It's also the fastest way to get the speech challenge achievement, since every confirmation counts.

Yep, I tested it just now. Darts make Deathclaws into Mole Rate level easy. They inch their way towards you when both of their legs are crippled. Don't let them get too close.

Well that good, considering thats the main purpose of the Dart Gun :lol

Tip: There are three respawning Telsa Enclave troops outside the Arlington Library. Use them for money or to keep Telsa Armor and Plasma Rifles in good condition.

I made it through the Sanctuary at level 6 or 7 (my second character), armed with nothing but 5 Bottlecap mines, and nary a stealthy bone in my body.

It was so awesome.

:p

I just love this weapon so much. This plus sniping with Ol' Painless and the ability to sneak means I'm able to be very covert.

Holy shit, I didn't pay attention to the dialogue that mentioned I had to stay and fight after the Big Town rescue, now
I've been playing for hours upon hours and I just realized that everyone in Big Town is dead and i'm out one lucky 8-ball
:lol :lol :lol :(

I agree wholeheartedly with this post.
Same.

I finished Following In His Footsteps on accident (was wandering around the
Jefferson Memorial
and found
dad's notes
), but I didn't get the trophy. Do I need to be playing a brand new, post-patch save?

What's the best place to get experience? I'm trying to grind to level 20 before finishing the game. I've already cleared Talon Company base, Paradise Falls and the Capitol Building. Also I've done every listed side quest. Lastly, I'm playing a good character, I can't just clearout Rivet City or Megaton.

WTF?

Did you?

You have to help three dog to fix the antena for galaxy news. You can refuse to help him, and he gives your father location but the mission don't finish until you help him.

I only have one achievement left, level 14 as a bad guy, and I'm already at level 6 with my new run :_(

Had a :lol in the citadel.

They kept talking about their little robot
and I was wondering why they were making such a big deal out of it. I thought they were talking about the one that's out front. I was in the lab again getting one of the scribes to tell me where the next vault was... Walking around I get all the info... Getting ready to head out when I see what looks like two of the bombs from megaton. I did a quick wtf and went to go try and set them off. I step back a bit and follow the legs up and go OOOOOOOOOOOHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that makes more sense

I walked by it ~5 times without seeing it.

I have questions about the PS3 version:

Does it play better or as good as the 360 version ? GameSpot mentioned Frame Rate problems, are they fixed with the latest patch ?

Any other issues with the PS3 version. The reason I am considering the PS3 version is because the limited edition is on sale at amazon.ca for 59.99

They've announced 3 (seemingly) substantial DLC packs for the 360/PC versions. Not saying it's an issue with the PS3 version, but something to consider. The game still lasted me a satisfying 40+ hours without the DLC packs.

The big difference is the DLC. PS3/360 have their differences that are probably outweighed by your favorite controller choice. So if you don't want the DLC pick your favorite controller.

they're both smoked by PC :]

I need a new PC :[

If you don't care about $10-$20 sidequests that have little to do with the game's core story anyway, the PS3 version is fine.

The final DLC will continue the game. That's a pretty big deal.

Push we have no idea how big they are gonna be. Pittsburg certainly isnt a small city and the Invasion of Alaska could go a number of different ways
