The Official Fallout 3 thread of post-apocalyptic proportions!

I'm having some trouble with killing all the super mutant behemoths.

I've killed all the super mutant behemoths, except the Jury Street Metro Station one. I've found the cart cage with the teddy bear that should make him spawn, but he doesn't appear. I've tried reloading the game, taking the teddy bear, waiting next to the teddy bear. But to no avail.

This is pretty frustrating since this is one of the last achievements I need to get.

Had this happened to more people? Is this a known bug?
I had to wait a minute or two and then he showed up running towards me

There are two pieces of Fallout 3 DLC on the way. One called "The Pitt", one called "Broken Steel". They were due soon, but according to Bethesda, they'll now be here a little later.

Don't worry, though. It's nothing drastic. "

By May, then, you'll not only have new areas to explore and new quests to complete, but an expansion to the game's level cap as well.

As with the first piece of DLC, "Operation Anchorage", both will only be available on PC and 360.

Kota..

WHATTHEMOTHERFUCK BETHESHA!!!!!!!!!! :((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

Oh cock. My main character is about 150XP off hitting LV20 with Nuka-Cola Challenge and Stealing Independance still to do out of the sidequests and everything from arriving at the citadel onwards in the main quest (although I've been right to the end with other characters).

I was waiting on getting The Pitt and Broken Steel together so I could put all the XP from my remaining quests into the increased level cap rather than wasting it. Arse. I'm going to have to spend the next couple of months dicking about with mod quests then, oh well!

FUCK FUCK FUCKING GODDAM SHIT HELL

Damn it!! God thats shit. Just release the goddam thing Bethesda, or if not make a decent size pack that is equivalent to Shivering Isles.

Fuck it!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last expansion must be huge if you can go 20-30 in it alone. I bought it today but I'm scared to play the DLC before they raise the cap.

Fuuuuuuuuuuccckkk.

I stopped playing my first character because he was about to hit lvl 20 and I didn't want to waste XP.

So, I decided to start a new character to hold me over until March. And now my second character is at lvl 10. Im sure that I'll be up to lvl 19-20 by the end of the month, even if I continue to play quite slowly.

So this fucking sucks. I guess I'll have to play a different game at some point. Haha.

Ugh....each DLC pack should have brought with it a 5 level increase, instead Fallout 3 is going to sit on my shelf and gather dust as I reached Level 20 ages ago, I don't want to think about how much XP has just gone to waste :(

I'm hoping the DLCs add some more custom weaponry. There's so much junk in the Wasteland and I've been hoarding all of it.

Edit: Holy fucking shit, I just encountered a Super Mutant Master that was about to throw a grenade at me. I said in my head "I could probably shoot that grenade while he's holding it". I then brought up VATS, chose the grenade (95% HIT), fired... and the shit blew him apart :lol

Is the ps3 rev of this game playable without the patch? (I won't be able to apply it anytime soon since I'll be playing behind a firewall). Are there bugs that I need to know about prior to even playing so I can look to prevent them?

thanx

Chinese Stealth Suit + Silent Running + Shishkebab + Pyromaniac = gg no re

2-hit Deathclaw kills on Very Hard and they have no way of spotting me.

Anyways, after racking up 100+ hours on this, I feel like I can make a fair assessment...

First off, this game is so fucking broken in some places, it's not even funny. Its most egregious fault being that for an FPS (at least an attempted hybrid-FPS), it is downright painful to play this game as one. It sucks so bad, I'm at a loss for words apt enough to describe just how awful it is. I pretty much have to play this game as a stealth/sniper/assassin because heaven forbid I run out of AP and I need to shoot normally because I'd rather take a cheese grater to my face.

That being said, it still is one of the best games I've ever had the delight of playing.

Oh and Bethesda? Can we fix the walking/running animations already? It's been three games of looking like my character is either floating half a foot off the ground, or sunk in quicksand up to his/her knees.

I'd like to know too.

Wtf? Do those achievement commands in the console really unlock the achievements? Did anyone try yet?

Apparently all the achievements are just scripted events tied to certain triggers, so it's possible to just run that script from the console.

Hell, I'm sure there's a mod where you shoot something and get all the achievements at once.

What the hell. Only one hour in to the game and I'm stuck. When I sit to do the G.O.A.T test nothing happens, no paper in front of me and I can't move. Only rotate the camera?!

THE AGONY!

EDIT: Oh and I can't patch.

Well... at least you are only an hour in. Perhaps try restarting or if you have a previous save load that one up.

Yeah, if you save and reload it should proceed with the GOAT test. It happened to me once and that worked. This is on the 360 version.

Unfortunately, I feel the same way after recently restarting the game to try to get the karma achievements.. I even chose a different sex for my character and played the game completely the opposite of the first time.. and you know? it's just not a fun game.. it's GREAT!, don't get me wrong, but really it's no fun. After I played through and leveled up my new chick all the way back to 8.. I took the game out and popped in the original XBOX game "Black".. and played through the first 3 levels.. oh my god! something amazing happened! I HAD FUNNN! TONS OF FUN shooting people and blowing shit up. FUN.

Wait.....Are you comparing Black..... to Fallout?

Or is this some sort of ultimate sarcasm

This shit is just ridiculous. The game has crashed like ten times and I'm about four hours in. I can't patch, but those fucking updates aren't an excuse for devs to slack off and sell shit as something else than it is.

Fuck this generation.

I hope it gets better because I like this game so far... hated Oblivion.

I started to play Fallout 3 on sunday and I already invested 30+ hours in it, this game rocks. :D

btw Star Paladin Cross is a great companion (and mule :lol ), Dogmeat not so much though.
Oh and regarding her,
does she disappear/go back to the Citadel/die/whatever if I get back to the main quest ? I'm currently doing Picking Up The Trail.

so is the patch on pc still broken for fallout 3? (VATs 3 second delay, Awful Accuracy even when maxed, and Perks not even having effects on accuracy anymore).

I really wanna replay it with some mods but FOSE requires this vile patch be installed...*goes back to bloodlines*

Ahhhh... I wondered why my accuracy had suddenly gone to shit. I did think that I used to be better than I am now!

Another quick question (SPOILERS related to The Family??):

After I played through the part with the Family and returned Ian to Arefu, I left after chatting with their leader and others. I later found out from a friend that you can gain the ability to used Bloodpacks to restore more than 1 HP. So, naturally, I return to the Family and talk to the leader (is his name Vance? I can't remember) to learn the ability. Well, no dice. I seem to have missed my chance to use Bloodpacks.

I was wondering if there was another way to be able to learn how to use these? I could really use them as health because I have SO many of them. I haven't gotten rid of any strictly on the hope that I'll be able to use them some other way.

Anyone know if it's possible?

cross will stay with you as long as you keep positive karma so yeah you can keep on doing the main quest and she'll go along with you....you can also do sidequests and she'll stay with you. she died with me because a car exploded right next to her and killed her, it was sad but we were liberating slaves so I think cross died doing what she loved best...helping the weak and powerless. anyway she's good but the best follower is later in the game ;). dogmeat is a worthless piece of shit he died on me right after I got him.

I liked the dlc a lot I'm anxious for moar fallout

What deal did you strike with Vance?

There is another use for them, you can sell them to Vance for 15 caps each which is a nice little earner when you go plundering hospitals. Although again, I think that is dependent on the deal that you struck between the villagers and the family.

Bloodpacks are overrated. Don't heal much and each weighs 1. Just stick with stimpacks.

Agility. You can also get the Action Boy/Girl perk which increases your VATS by 25 points.

That and get the Special Hockeymask from the guy who you take the Nuka Cola Clear Formula to. It adds 25 points.

so i have this on PC and played a little bit here and there this past week.

now I pretty much knew i probably wouldn't like it.
don't like rpg's
hate elder scroll's games
have always thought the game looked really unappealing

aaaand i was pretty much spot on.

i think the game is butt ugly. playing with everything on max at high resolution and it's just shockingly ugly.
controls and overall feel is really shoddy. i say it's akin to a budget FPS title from 2000. it's really bad.
and i don't really enjoy the combat.

pretty much any quest that has required me to engage in combat isn't fun.

also: PC version is a buggy mess. It's crashed 6 or 7 times in the few hours i've put into it.

Sucks that the DLC got delayed as I'm waiting on the cap raise til I play any of the new content.

Create a new character. I'm on my fourth. Currently level 13 and decked out with glitched Operation Anchorage equipment. She is my first melee oriented character.

Hilarious. And your first mistake is treating it like it's a fps title in the first place.

Of course your general opinions early in your post state why your general post should be ignored.

I don't think that's a valid excuse. It isn't like Mirror's Edge where only like 5% of the game is spent with a gun in your hand. Shooting in the first person is a big part of the game. As is all the fetch quests and exploring.

A very terrible part.

In fact.... Mirror's Edge had better gunplay than this.

If your running around and shooting and not using the vats system you ain't playing it properly.

It's not a shooter game. That's just the view perspective you experience the world through. You only use the shooter perspective when you are out of Vat points in the first place. And while technically not the best shooter in that regard Stalker, Deus Ex and a load of titles are poor pure shooters when you compare them to regular shooters in mixed genre games.

Yes. It's not a great shooter. But nobody in their right mind is playing it in Battlefield mode.

When complaining about controls, it isn't limited to simply shooting. The overall feel of moving and looking around is just really shoddy. Like I said, it's like I'm controlling a FPS game from 8 years ago.

I don't think people should be justifying how bad it is just because "well... it's not a shooter!"

I feel I'm caught i a time warp of 3 months go. Everything you are saying has already been talked to death. Go read back 50 or so pages....

Last post because clearly debating with someone who hates the game, the developers, and their interpretations of rpg's is pretty pointless. This isn't Mirror's Edge where you are running around and platforming. They are adequate imo for a game that isn't a shooter in any traditional sense of being a shooter. This isn't an environemental crawl where you are ducking in and out of crevices.

There are lots of things to complain about in Fallout 3 (like every game). I have an entire list of them and still think the game is great. But you are complaining about things that have no overall bearing on how you complete the game imo or how it was designed.

As far as the graphics stuff, I'm not a graphics person so none of that stuff matters to me.
