Episode 3 came out tonight and it was just as good as the first two. I'd read the first volume of the manga some time ago but had kind of forgotten about the series until the new shows were announced some months ago.

In the words of my Japanese friend attending school here until February when he goes back to Chuo University, "Genshiken shows us real OTAKU in school life. I was really touched by it." The show is funny and enjoyable -- WATCH IT!

I really dug the first episode. It wasn't hysterically funny or anything like that, but it looked to be a dead accurate look at the fanboy life in Japan and spent a lot of time setting up big laffs further down the road. I've got two sitting on my harddrive waiting to be enjoyed, and I'm hoping to actually keep up with it as the show airs.

Meanwhile, it makes me want to go watch Otaku no Video for the Nth time.

The third episode centered around Genshiken going to Comike -- it was a riot. Madarame's actions are soooo what a die-hard fan would do in that type of situation too regardless of which type of convention it was.

Casual anime fans might hate the show. I had a gathering of people over to watch some new anime, and when we watched Genshiken, everyone except this one guy loved it. The guy in particular was a casual anime fan, and he was disgusted by how perverted otaku were.

Of course, we all silently laughed at him.

And I don't get how they blackmailed the student council’s vice president because she had athlete’s foot. Is it really that embarrasing... -__-

I think it was a hidden cameras from the time she asked you can see his expression.

I'm only guessing but she may have done something with Kosoka in the room
Or done something alone in the room.

You know I'd like to tell you that this anime is so awesome you should watch those 7 even though the rest might not get subbed... But seeing how it has low chances of coming to the U.S. you might want to consider the possibility of getting hooked on a series you'll never see end.

This show is hardcore.
I laugh all the time... Probably much more so since I kind of relate too a character

I think I have a good idea about what was going on in EP5… The scene after the credits makes it rather obvious IMO and there is also a good indication right in the middle of the episode… especially if you think of what happened in EP1.

But "they" probably think its more fun for you to fantasise about what was going on in there
