Is anyone else playing RBTB? How's it going for you?

We try it occasionally and have the same problems you have. Still takes forever to find a match and it's almost always laggy once we do get a game. Don't even get me started on the actual ranks.

Won a bunch of games to get to 44, tied once and dropped down to 43. Won a bunch of games as a 43, lost one slayer game by 10 kills and ranked down to 42. Won 4 games yesterday, no rank up.

It's worth it to beat up on the dumb teams of kids who bought 50 accounts though.

I've never been able to use the needler. It feels like I explode after 4-5 needles but even if I unload a full clip on someone (who isn't running directly at me) I rarely take someone down.

Last night some kid robbed me of a perfection by unloading a few needles on me :(
More happy needler fun.

It's a weapon I've always wanted to be more useful than it actually was. It's my go-to weapon in Standoff and Last Resort now.

So, Don confirmed that the announcement that was suppose to be made by Bungie during E3 confirmed that it is Halo related.
So the SI is Halo related or just a symbol of Bungie...

*sigh*

Also, some people in that thread be mightily dumb.

I sure hope SI is not Halo.

Sure have been a lot of Bungie/Halo threads since the E3 countdown.

That would be great if they reset the stats, because I don't have a working Halo 3 atm and then I could easily catch back up to everyone :p

I wouldn't be surprised if Mattrick thought that all Bungie games were just called Halo.

Halo: Myth
Halo: Oni
Halo: Marathon
You remain optimistic. I like that.
Anyway, going by the 55.6992.3840, I am going to assume it's Flood related.

a reset would suck, it's bad enough being matchmade with 2nd accounters getting their rank up.

I favor a rank reset coupled with a more intelligent way to define and assign rank. In the long run this could actually make Matchmaking a fairer princess.

Agreed. Even if it was simply a nothing more then a reset I'd probably have a better chance at getting a 50 from scratch then I do slaving away at 50+ wins per level at 47.

More realistically they'll make changes to how the ranking system functions that will be more accurate, less frustrating and not inspire alts.

Why reset the stats? Just allow a patch to have higher levels.

Yea resetting wouldn't do anything it'd just go right back to what it is. Higher levels might spread the skill out into it actually being a useful diagnostic of your playing level.

Also last nite I bitched about how I was getting fucked over and having a bad night. Went back in theater and watched my games, found the biggest pile of bullshit ever in such a small sampling. Currently uploading to gamevee.

In the words of one of my cousins redneck neighbors wielding a crooked shotgun "you better get outta here this gun can shoot round corners!"

KevinRo said:

Yeah, that's actually a good idea. But then again, it would royally fuck everything up for a couple weeks while everyone hits their level cap.

If there was a reset, I would only play ranked until I hit like 25 so that I wouldn't get stuck with Generals every single match.

And snipers shoot through walls. This infuriates me.

Well last nite I used the word magnet. I swear to fuckin Moko the Samoan bird king this video captures the true essence of bullshit. Its just unacceptable.

There's a lot more wrong with the ranking system then the fact that the 45-50 portion contains such a striking spectrum of player skill. Though it is a problem.

Even with a party full of Generals I rarely get matched up against a ton of other generals.

This my friends is why you play social matches, ranked games piss me off to no end beause it always feels like my gun is weaker :lol seriously I always die when the enemy's shield is disabled, like i'm always one shot behind.

Yo Nutter. I booked the hotel room (at the doubletree).
I found one with 2 beds and a sofa bed so no-one has to sleep on the floor, and for a good price, so I just jumped on it.

Its 294.94 total, so thats 100 bucks total for friday / saturday night (or 50 bucks each a night).

Hotel is close to the airport, 20 minutes from the convention center.

This is the hotel here.

16500 Southcenter Parkway, Seattle, Washington, United States 98188-3388
Tel: 1-206-575-8220

Google Maps directions from the hotel -> convention center

After a year of data I think they could change the system for the better, however, is the model designed in such a way to allow drastic changes to the way MM and therefor rank work?

When are we going to get a date for the would-be E3 announcement?

The problem with a competitive ranking system is that people always think they're better than they are, and so get frustrated when they don't rank up. Another major issue is that people don't like losing, when in fact a good matchmaking system will have most people losing 50% of the time (once you reach your correct rank).

Aside from a few edge cases (like neg exp boosting), I don't understand why people have such a problem with the ranking system. In my anecdotal experience, it has worked pretty well. I'm pretty much at the right rank now in all the playlists, and I can expect a competitive game almost every time.

I think the "Major changes to the Halo 3 online experience" are more likely to be a Forge playlist, or at least something a little less fundamental than a rank reset or new ranking system.

One wrong thing IMO was makig it so you needed less exp to become general or whatever if you were a higher rank in matchmaking, means everyone wants to be lv50 at some point.

Doubletrees are typically awesome hotels. There's one in Times Square that my family always stays at whenever we go to NYC and they have bellhops and everything.

If I had my way Bungie would hide numerical ranks and just assign random titles to people if only to show how ranks don't matter.

My biggest problem with the ranking system is the incredibly prominent uncertainty factor that they apply to each one's trueskill. I played a ton of TS games with randoms in order to claw my way to 45 and since then I've been playing with a regular team and winning much more than 50% of my games yet my level is pretty much set in stone at this point. This frustration leads to the creation of many an alt account and I'd much rather have a system that is more fluid in that if I go 20 games with a 80% win-rate I level up and if I do poorly in the same games I'd level down just as quickly.

Yeah I've always heard good things about them.. I couldnt get over the price vs. quality.
Seems like this was one of the few hotels that didn't jack up their prices for the convention weekend. I was shocked a 3 bed was so cheap.

O hell yes! Yeah, I booked the flight a week ago.

( Did you mean, see you at the same hotel? Are you staying at the doubletree also?)

I'd love a stat reset. At this point I need like 7+ straight wins to get my level 47 in LW back and another 10 straight wins to get my 48 back.

Naw, I'm at the hotel that's like 2 blocks down the street from the convention center.

Man, if PAX had just been on week earlier, I probably could have made it, but as it is PAX is the weekend after my first week of school. Is PAX the same date every year? Oh well, maybe next year. I hope you all have much fun!

More PAX News on Bungie.net - http://www.bungie.net/news/content.aspx?type=news&cid=14894

Bad News: Fanfest has been delayed (this probably means we won't see the new project before or at PAX because it seems to have been delayed because of the unexpected delayed announcement of their next project. )

Good News: Those who go to PAX can get hands-on with new Halo 3 Multiplayer Content, and even have the chance to face off against Luke and Shishka for Recon armor. Prizes and swag ftw. Their booth is also right next to RoosterTeeth's :p

It sucks to live in the eastern side of the country. I would love a chance to play Luke or Shishka for Recon. Hell, I'd play them both at the same time for the chance. :P

Heh, lucky. What's weird is that the same thing is true for me. Whenever I play with people of higher levels than me, I never seem to play Generals, yet when I go into a playlist alone, I always seem to be matched up with them.

Not that I can't take them out ... statistically, I think it's just a bit unfair.

Is there any chance of Bungie fixing splitting up of a party in social matches? Playing with my wife and a friend can be annoying. Either we get split or some other party gets split. Last night a guy got put on our team with his friends on the other team. He just sat on the beach on High Ground while his friends spawn camped us. We just kept re-spawning on the beach because he wouldn't move. It took us a while to realize what was happening. There honestly needs to be a 3 v 3 social playlist.

Looking at some of your recent TS games, you're being carried by 50s against lower level teams. Id say you don't deserve a 50, but I haven't played with you. I wouldn't mind a stats reset to implement a new system, Id just like to keep my general rank please.

This is the worst thing about matchmaking. It makes me avoid social playlists when I'm in a party. I can't believe we haven't had a fix for it yet :(

Tell me about it, Eazy. I've pretty much given up on getting my 45 in TS right now (I'm currently a 43). A week or so ago, I won 17 games in a row in TS and didn't go up. There's definitely something wrong with that.

Is it just me, or is this "you must aim ahead of your targets with the BR" not working? I watched a few videos of mine and I was CLEARLY leading my targets. The reticle was still red, but I didn't score a single hit. These were from a small distance.

In another video, I was aiming ABOVE my opponent's head and all of the shots registered as head shots :lol
