C-

Indeed. For example I am always quite proud of myself when I assassinate someone out of a passing Mongoose. Doing that with a Ghost would be pretty awesome.

GW2 is so crazy. Is your head twitching back and forth considered a siezure? If so I think I may be suffering from GW2 twitches...

Why is radar in the game? Or why is radar in the game at high-level ranked or in social when both parties are brigs and generals? Same goes for equipment.

It's so terrible. Forget using your head, finding clever ways around maps or being situationally aware. Lets camp around every corner of Construct and throw power drains and bubble shields at each other.

Oh someone is trying to sneak around me at snipe tower on The Pit? Good thing I have this massive glowing red dot showing me where the enemy is because I wasn't watching my back. Now I'll drop this regen and sit there while the guy on the other team hopelessly throws grenades at me.

Oh shit the enemy team is fortified along elbow and snipe tower on Guardian. I guess now I'll have to crouch walk from goddamn hammer all the way to snipe and hope either my finger doesn't slip off the thumbstick or they don't glance down and see me crawling towards them.

Think how much more tense (and fair) any objective gametype would be without radar. You could legitimately sneak around the entire team to grab the flag at Valhalla if they weren't paying attention. You could rush the base in 1-sided gametypes on Last Resort without the enemy knowing exactly where every person on your team is.

Enough with the equipment and radar already. It's for babies.

I concur. And the regens on Isolation? It's ridiculous -- every time I get three shots into someone, they always seem to have a regen. Garbage.

At this point whenever I'm shooting anyone in Isolation I need to have an escape plan in my head because chances are they're going to drop a regen down. What is the respawn time on those things, 5 seconds? Lately it seems like equipment is just dominating games. I can't move 10 feet on Narrows or The Pit without a power drain hitting me in the head, or some kid who I'm about to kill dropping a bubble shield or regen or picking up overshield etc etc etc

Narrows is really the "Halo sandbox" at its finest. Egregious equipment placement, lots of power weapons (remove rockets and put one snipe bottom mid, thanks), enormous amounts of grenade spam, terrible spawns, and fundamentally poor level design. At least it doesn't have shield doors.

It's fun to use the radar against people who rely on it. On maps wheres its easy to go to different floor levels, I like to fool people and make them think I'm on their floor. They'll crouch and wait for me around a corner and then on the radar they think I'm coming but I'm on the floor above them. It's pretty funny. But no, I definitely like no radar. I can move around the map freely.

Since when did Narrows have 1 sniper bottom mid. Rockets are there. Bubble shield is top mid and everyone gets a power drain at their mancannon. But the spawns are definitely fucked on that map. Its kind of like MLG Amplified.

If only they had a playlist with no radar and no equipment...
And how would the games be more fair? I haven't played in a while but I vaguely remember all the member of each team having a motion tracker. And no equipment? I'll agree that the regen spawn times are too high on Isolation but that only means that it's probably smartest to grab one before prancing willy nilly around the map. Complaining when someone takes you out with the aid of a regen is like complaining because someone was able to take you out from half way across a map because he happened to have a sniper.

Really, EazyB? One team can crouch behind walls with shotguns and stare at their radar the whole time while the other team has to run at the objective. Emphasis on run when you consider how short the rounds are and how far away you spawn (especially on Last Resort).

:lol :lol :lol

By the way, can anyone teach me how to fight in regens? As of now it seems like people mash the melee button and hope it kills the other person.

Bladed Expert is putting up a fight on my GW2 leaderboards. I don't think I've added you yet. Your GT is EazyB? Mine is Finjitzu

If you're blazing through around indoor corners towards an objective that the other team is knowingly defending, you deserve what will inevitably happen to you. If you don't want to sneak around corners or toss grenades around them, then take a more open path. I can't think of a single level on which there isn't more open paths.

And even if camping around corners made the defending team invincible, it's not like your team isn't capable of the same once the sides switch.

You can take out someone in a regen by throwing a single grenade at their feet and popping them with a single BR headshot. If you're so close that it's smartest to go in the regen with them then yes, you will have to try to inflict more damage on them and then melee them before they do that same to you. Uh, what's your point?

Yeah, EazyB, go ahead and throw me an invite, I'm not really good so don't worry. I love the leaderboard integration in that game.

Haha, you want a fight? Ad Jack Scofield!! He's kicking my ass on Sequence and Evolved!! And how the HELL did Blood get over 4 mil on King?

How bout them haloz anywho?

Not in Slayer-based games. I remember that in one game of Multi Team, this guy and his buddy camped up top on the bubble shield next to the bridge to camo with a shotgun adn sniper for the entire game. He continued to sit up there literally on top of the bubble shield for all 15 minutes of the game and ended up getting a rampage. And of course the bubble shield regens every 20 seconds so he had an almost infinite shield with a shotty.

It's crap like that that makes me hate equipment.

I have no problem with most equipment (it enhances the game's variety in many positive ways). I do have a problem with radar, however. I'm not really sure how to fix the problem with radar other than removing it completely from Construct, amongst others.

seriously. Scofield's kicking mine too.

In also off topic news, how about that Shadowrun Revival? I picked it up for $15 used at Gamespot, but I'm hesitant to jump in.

So would you say camping around corners hiding with shotguns is a viable strategy because you can see the other team on your radar and they can't see you? Thank you.

No radar = less camping and an emphasis on smart decisions which = better games.

My point is it turns into a sloppy melee battle where the game basically flips a coin to decide who should die and who lives. Everything about the regen is horrible.

Dude I am loving this leaderboard stuff I can't put the game down because I keep wanting to improve my standings on each board. Other than that yea count me in the like radar camp.

I got matched against Shiska in team snipers. He had some normal armor on but I'll tell you, he can play. His team beat ours and he had some nice head shots. I had a pretty nice head shot on him though. Jumped out from a rock while he was waiting for me. Mid-air head shot at 10 sensitivity. :D I went even but I definitely didn't live up to my 3 star General tag. Good Game.

I turn off the pretty armors for Snipers. No need wear a flaming beacon that can be seen from space when everyone has two levels of zoom. =P

You're playing Multi Team. How much fairness can you expect :P
It's not like they were invisible. There's an additional shotty, sniper, and laser as well as an invis and plenty of stickies. While they definitely have an advantage, there's no reason they couldn't be taken out.

No joke, Scofield has slaughtered almost all of my score. BTW: I beat Blood's King score :D

In objective games, especially attack and defend, camping is the name of the game. It's called defense. I hate CCQ and I successfully avoid it most of the time. It's not that hard to predict where an would benifit from waiting around a corner and act accordingly.

I enjoy no radar games but also like the radar mechanic. No radar generally results in more chaotic fast-paced games where acrobatic (for lack of a better word) really comes into play. Cool, sounds fun. Radar games are slower paced and each player must remain aware of the radar and try to manipulate the enemy using it.

Flip a coin? It's no more random then your normal melee encounter. And that's only instances where you're forced to be in the regen with them. Like I said, a single grenade in tandem with a BR.

I was going to play Halo 3 with you guys but instead I'm going to put a hour into Geometry Wars 2. I have to break Oml3t's scores on my leaderboards, those damn numbers on the right are some serious motivation.

It's on!!!

About the radar stuff. I've been playing with radar since Halo 1 LAN. I think the only Halo 2 stuff I played without radar was SWAT. I rely on the radar in slayer and such. But I've been playing more and more MLG and I'm getting used to the no radar stuff. I think Team Slayer is good with radar and MLG is good without. Please don't change anything...

A quick glance at the bungie forums suggests "Team Melee".

Sounds absolutely delightful.

They spawn WAY too fast. It's been said day after day on this thread and still no change.

Once they actually do get down to changing it, they'll probably remove it.

It would be better just to raise the timer on them (45 seconds would be ideal).

A Radar Jammer and Flare also need returned. The whole "jumping" trick is there, I got it, but you can do it with the Power Drainer also but it's still being used. No difference. Put the equipment you placed in the game on the map.

Use the vehicles you put on the game, too. So we will not see a Covenant game that doesn't turn into Ghost Wars instead of actual Covenant vehicles -- Prowler, Chopper, Wraith, and Ghosts.

I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but Kylej has a point. Halo is nothing more than seeing a red dot and running away from it while another person gives chase. Turning radar off would be so much better. People couldn't just run away every time they see someone in their vicinity. And don't say "Play MLG" because I actually like weapon variety.

As far as equipment goes, it should be more rare, as Bungle originally said it would be. The regens on Isolation are ridiculous. They respawn way too fast and it seems like someone always has one. Tone those damn things down. And add the flare back on that map. It's too wide open and if you get shot at, there's a good chance you'll die because there's hardly anywhere to go up top. At least with the flare, you can run away somewhere if you get jumped.

As well as add the radar jammer if people are so insistent on radar. This stuff was supposed to "evolve" the game and it's done none of that. There's the power drainer, bubble shield and regen and that's it. The trip mine is hardly ever used and when it is, it's neutered. There's no deployable cover, no flare, no radar jammer, no portable turret. None of the stuff that is actually in the sanbox.

Well, there's also the jump pad (aka grav lift), which for one I think actually adds to the game more than it subtracts from it.

Okay, forgot about the grav lift, which is usable on a few maps. But once again, where are all the other equipment items that were in the BETA and in the game originally? Bungle can't fix them or figure out how to work around them, so they just remove them?

As for radar, I don't mind it.

But since we're discussing ideas.

What about bringing back Halo 1 and 2's style of Team Slayer Pro? Battle Rifle is the starting weapon, but you actually have normal weapons on the map and there is no radar.

Bringing back Team Slayer Pro and Team Rifles would bring a great mixture to the meh lineup that is currently in Team Slayer.

Remove Team Snipers from it and make the mixup between Team Slayer, Team Slayer BR (lower weight than the three), Team Rifles, and Team Slayer Pro.

God that gametype was so fun on Ivory Tower. :)

Man do I want a Team Rifles gametype.

You saying Team Rifles, made me go into Halo 3 and start trying to make a Rifles varient game type. In Halo 3 the entertainment software from Bungie studios published by Microsoft, you cannot make a Team Rifles game type; you have to go in forge and forge the maps to be a Rifles Varient map. (which since finding out i cant make a gametype i have been doing to all the small/medium maps) As for Adding Team Slayer Pro, we already have too many playlists, Bungie needs to decrease them not add to them.

The only thing I would suggest in this case is get rid of Head to Head, replace it with Snipers. Add Team Slayer Pro Gametype into Team Slayer.
Also if possible add the Rifle Varient of the maps into play :p

So many good ideas....

Bring back Hardcore. I have been screaming for this since they day they announced they were replacing it with MLG. Drop 1v1 and MLG please. Hardcore was a great mix of slayer and objective. I would love a CTF/Assault playlist (netural, 1-flag/bomb, and 2 flag/bomb) using each map properly.

I don't see what's so splendid about Team Rifles, it sounds like MLG to me. The only difference between Team Rifles and Team BRs is a lack of variety in the former. The most ideal Team Slayer hopper IMO would be:

Team Slayer: Low weighting but there for all the pray and spray junkies
Team BRs: Highest weighting; slayer at its finest
Team Pro: BR starts with no radar

And please get snipers and duels outta there.

I agree with everything with this post.

Also, I'd really like to see the deployable cover added to some maps, especially the larger ones. I think it's really the best balanced piece of equipment in the game, seeing as it can give you some cover right when you need it, but it's not easy to just hide in there and camp with a shotty, like with the bubble.

I never said make Team Slayer Pro a new playlist.

Join it into Team Slayer and mix up it up to add a sense of variety to the dull lineup currently involved.

Oh my, you have to go into Forge to create Rifles? I guess the 30-40 people who are working on DLC and maps for Halo 3 can't muster up 10-15 mins to delete the normal weapons off the map and add in a Battle Rifle, Carbines, and a Sniper Rifle or two.

For Team Rifles, you only need it for a certain selective maps. Remember in Halo 2, Team Rifles was popular in Colosses, Burial Mounds, Terminal, and Relic.

These maps would suit Team Rifles well:

- Construct
- Blackout
- Snowbound
- The Pit
- High Ground

And while we're all bitching about stuff we hate, please remove the attic spawns in The Pit, or even just board up the upper section. It is infuriating in a game of snipers when players just camp up there for the entire game.
