I was moved by the first one. It's very, very well done. The second one, not so much. I thought the Gears of War ad pushed things quite a bit, and while you could argue that the Halo 3 ads are continuing in that direction. It's just not a direction I'm keen on.

But I'm over the ads. I'm just counting the days until the 25th. :D

this just gives us something to debate while we wait. 25th needs to hurry up!

im hoping that the DLC will be steady and feature as many new maps as it does classic remakes

pretty sure that bloodgultch would be in the first 1 because it would sale like crazy

Isn't Valhalla a remake of bloodgultch? Or am I going crazy?

I hope we never see another bloodgultch again. Valhalla is plenty.

What would you even want that Valhalla doesnt offer? A less complex layout?

I'd go as far as to say no more remakes at all. But I know thats a pipe dream.

Its was "inspired by" Blood Gulch, according to something I read somewhere. Sources? Ha! We don't need no stinkin' sources.

And you are going crazy.

Game is out in less than a fortnight. Just enjoy it all fresh. At 1080p. In surround sound. With a can of GAME FUEL. In the back of your PONTIAC.

Compelling. I wish there was an ad to explain such actions to me.

Who wants to play through in co-op with me?

I'm down. Will there be punch and pie?

i would say influenced but the valley in the center and change in setting really make it not bloodgultch even though it does have the 2 bases

I think the second ad is really cool. I think they complement each other perfectly.

I still think it would be cool to have an in game commercial, but these are awesome on their own right. And the game will be in my hands in only a handful of days anyway so it's all good.

i like bloodgultch but it is far from my favorite, but the demand is there for a remake

if they do id like to see something similar to what they did with the zanzibar remake

No, it's been confirmed that the only maps that are remakes in Halo 3 is Last Resort (Zanzibar) and Guardian (Lockout). The rest are new.

we can still get some more mileage out of that joke

holy shit, thats hilarious!

Funny but incredibly sad that it's true. The Halo community is quite possibly the worst I have ever encountered in an online game. Mute is going to be my best friend Sept 26th.

Yes, that new "quick mute" function should be more hyped than Forge.

I am reminded of Peace Keeper 2 from a GAF Halo 2 match days ago...

He annunciated so well as he team killed his way to a -negative score.

i miss him.

Play in a party.

Totally Random Thought:

Will we be able to download Halo Humpday Challenge films from the Bungie Recommends site?

That would be...you know....awesome and....stuuuuuff.

I would actually pay for an xbox live premiere service that was age verified and super strict and like age 25+ only. I think just having a more expensive version would help to keep the kids on the cheaper one. Sad we even have to discuss that though.

Yup. They've talked about that in the Podcast. Super easy for them to do. Press X and upload to B.net.

Yeah I bet we will be able to. Didn't they discuse that possibility in a podcast?

And kids couldn't lie about their age in that?

I would pay extra for an adult only XBL experience.

Get on it Mr. Gates.

I'm playing CoD4 to ease the pain of waiting, and I (unfortunately) don't even bother with the mic due to the assness of most players. Its especially a shame because thats a game that could really use some coordination and constructive chatting.

It's almost sad in a way that the discrepancies between each team will no longer exist due to this feature. I'll miss the arguements over who won and by what margin.

Really ? It's quite the opposite from my experience. The first two weeks or so that I was in the beta it was wonderful. It felt so adultish.

But once the charlieoscars and the Gamespotters joined it pretty much went to hell. like all other games. But not for Halo 3! Thank you a-hole button.

I think thats what he was saying actually.

Halo 3 is like a full-moon. Its going to bring the werewolves out of the the youth.
But thankfully there is a mute opposing team setting that I will play on by default, and only playing in parties should keep me safe.

I agree (except make it 24 and up :D )

Frankie, is there anything planned in using saved films to review games with cheaters?
Like if someone gets enough feedback for lets say stand-by and I save the film, and send it to bungie.net... Or for something like super-bouncing, or climbing out the map with the objective, or if the game is ever hacked and we have what happened with the auto brs and super jumps.

anything like that planned? or do ya'll primarily not say anything so the cheaters have less extra time to plan ways around the system till its actually in place?

The game is recording the data. I'm sure even if we don't "save" it the data of the game is saved some where on their end. Just like with Halo 2 they had 'extra' data to check for cheaters, so I would assume this is the same for Halo 3.

Since the game is "recording" all the buttons you push what would stop from picking up players using things like buttons combos or glitches. I'm sure those who 'abuse' glitches will be caught easier this time around... I hope atleast.

I was one of those charlieoscars, so that has been my experience.

The few games I've had with good teams have been awesome. Calling out enemy positions, coordinating UAVs and airstrikes, and playing as a team makes CoD4 go from a 7 to a 10 1/2.

Until we get enough Ritalin in our water supply however, the mute feature will be a popular well, feature.

No I dont think its possible to save all that data. Thats why we get a limit on it at bnet.
All those saved games stored indefinitely would add up to a metric shitton. Though I bet they could store the data for 2 weeks or something like that, and have people that review game footage that the system flags.

If nothing else, its going to make those people that complain about bans futile. The mailbag of shame is going to be awesome as people start linking each other to game footage. Where cheaters claim they were banned 'unfairly'.

Only Last Resort. Guardian shares similarities to Lockout in the same way Valhalla shares some similarities to Blood Gulch, but it is not a remake.

(pretty sure that's what they said, anyways. D:)
