over on bungie.net there is a thread on how team ranked matches is not going to be available. They say there will be clans but no team ranked in match making. They say they found this info when they select the halo countdown advertisement on xbox live. Can some one confirm or deny this.

It is a Samsung Syncmaster 940MW, and my 360 is connected with Pelican VGA cables.

It's the VGA cable, trust me. I had exactly the same problem with MadCatz VGA cables, they totally sucked ass. Once I switched to official cables, the picture was perfect.

Someone else here described the same stuff in the Marketplace page. The game description is apparantly very off, including a mention of clans. Someone should check it to validate first...

Anyway, Halo 3... Just checked out the new website with the tour of the diorama. I know, I'm a little late to the party, but wow that thing is bigger than my apartment. And while I didn't like the believe commercial, the "making of" video for the diorama was excellent.

No kidding. The thing is EPIC.

But yeah, on a related note, isn't it kind of bold for the ad agency to go and just add a whole new storyline element [spoilers for the diorama ahead...]

Just to follow-up - the webspace you can select in the Marketplace blade does have some bogus info, including a description of Clans. It reads like a general Xbox Live thing, not a Halo 3 statement.

Select the ad, and then --> Expand Your LIVE Experience --> Online Gameplay

Ok I decided to read what the guy was talking about. I can see why he thinks what he does.

I'll quote from the dashboard what it says.

It talks about ranked games being offical then it says this.

When playing ranked matches, you won't be able to invite people from your friends or player lists. This is done to prevent players from stacking the odds on one side of the match. This also prevents glitching which is when players which is when players agree to lose to each other, which is more common then you might expect.

Then later on down it says this when talking about playing in private matches.

If you can get 4 friends together who want to play Halo 3 online, then you can play a private match together

So those do indeed make it sound like you can't play with friends in ranked and that you ahve to have 4. if you want to look luke it's in the section titled Online Gameplay in the Expand your live experience section. So it does indeed that the guy is telling the truth. It's just that the information is obviously wrong. Bungie might want to talk to someone and get that info fixed.

I was here in Kirkland running the West Coast review events, with a couple of dozen video game press luminaries and the odd newspaper filling up our lab. Our main role was simply to provide support – explain controls and deliver snacks. We mostly left the journalists to themselves and let them play through at their own pace, undisturbed.

We started at 9am and went through to 2am for four days straight. Our PR guys from MS and Edelman were true heroes, sticking through the entire event and helping arrange food for the starving journos. It’s obviously vital that we can’t interfere with them while they play and it was kind of eerie. In our lab they were playing on 1080p Sharp Aquos sets, with surround headphones on brand new Elite consoles, running the finished retail game.

I watched each version of the actual ad once. I've seen the making-of five times. The music, the craftsmanship of the model makers, the smooth, melodious sound of the lightly accented narration - it's a wonderful piece.

They won't add the 30% if you're trading stuff in for the Halo 3 console...doesn't make sense. :/
