The Official iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming Thread

Just played Aurora Feint for the past hour. It's great.

My iPod might have just replaced my DS. I mean, the DS has much better games, but I rarely have it with me when I'm out. I always have my iPod Touch.

Damn Steve Jobs. Stop turning industries on their heads!!! Computers, Movies, Music and now Games. WTF?

MotionX Poker is awesome... and way too addivtive.

Complaints:

- My prepaid iTunes card won't allow me to purchase games. WTF is up with that?!?

- I can't listen to music while playing games. It would be nice to have this option for most of these games. Especially the board, card and dice games.

I like my iPhone but I wouldn't say that apple turned the games industry on it's head. Maybe just the mobile phone game industry :)

Now back to shaking some dice.

I do have to say, I'm seriously considering selling my DS now. The only thing i ever play on it anymore are Puzzle Quest and Picross, so between Aurora Feint and hopefully somebody doing a Picross game I'm pretty much set portable gaming wise just with the iphone.

Depends on the game. Trism does support this.

Critter Crunch -

http://wireless.ign.com/articles/888/888685p1.html

nice to see some gaming sites getting on board.

Will be really interested to see some proper reviews of

MotionX Poker (love)
Aurora Feint (might love more as its free)
Trism (would have loved if I hadnt got Aurora Feint for free)

from sites and reviews I'm familiar with.
(doubt we will get them tho with e3)

Has anyone else tried the IGN reviews app? Not the best app in the world, but it will definitely come in handy the next time I'm in the store buying games.

Whereas the precision of the Wii Remote lets you manipulate monkey hero AiAi's labyrinths with absolute ease

Really? I thought the controls of Banana Blitz were pretty terrible once the Wii launch hype subsided. It didn't render the game absolutely impossible, but still made the game much more frustrating than Monkey Ball games played with an analog stick.

At least the DS game had the good sense to let the player choose between d-pad or touchscreen analog controls.

Okay, I'm done derailing the thread.

Not sure I would rank monkeyball 4.5, its more like a 6 from the controls. I spent some time with it and im on level 48. Its certainly very frustrating. Some of the later levels make me scream "are they fucking kidding me?!" lol

Motion X is the best launch game I think. And the aurora feint is the best free game.

Day 2- Still getting 0-1 bars of service... could this possibly be the phone?

I would have to think so as my moms blackjack has full bars and we are standing in the same spot.

Is this a 3G or an upgraded 2G? If it's a new phone, just take it back and get it replaced.

3g

I still have the piece of plastic on it that came with it, because I'm waiting for my invisible shield
If I get to get a new one im taking it off this one and not caring.

I don't wanna wait ughh

Pinball RC is really, really bad. Surprisingly, it's not the controls that hold it back - it's the framerate. The game runs at about 10fps, which basically turns it into a game of chance. The table it comes with it may or may not be interesting. I'd love to see them add it to Pinball FX so I can actually play it.

There's nothing for them to track. They can't get data for digitally distributed content.
I think he's talking about the iPhone itself.

I don't think it'll happen though, they don't track other cell phones.

They already track Apple's hardware sales, they released a report not that long ago. I have no idea if they track cell phone stores, but they do track a lot more than games.

CritterCrunch is the best iPhone game so far IMO, MonkeyBall is ass (waste of $10).

I some Japanese devs port some DS games to the iPhone. That'd be awesome.

Most of your VG industry favorites are Twittering. Garnett Lee, Jon Davison, N'Gai, just to name a few.

Question-

If i have to return mine, I already registered it with applecare, i'm gonna have to contact apple and change serial numbers aren't i?

Of course, http://twitter.com/jaredr

As for good feeds? CNN, MajorNelson ... Hmm ... those are the only non-personal ones I use.

So many people complaining about Monkey Ball :lol Yeah, it's hard, but damn. I didn't think it was that hard.

added you jared :)

and yeah, there needs to be a sensitivity setting on monkey ball. waaay too sensitive as it is right now.

I'm Twittering as well - ErrorJustin :D

And yeah most of the VG industry tweets. Just find a couple of them, and you can find the rest. B/C they're all connected to one another.

I haven't tried all the games but MotionX Poker supported your own music via the shortcut player (double tap the HOME button)

sadly it didnt work for Aurora Feint too

Monkey Ball is fine, hard to get used to sure, but it's fun. And it looks and runs fantastically.

Scrabble is where it's really at though. It's a great mobile version of the game, multiple gametypes (including solitaire) and it even has pass and play local multiplayer. If you consider yourself a Scrabble fan in any way shape or form, you should pick it up.

I really wish I had this for my last international flight.

oh and AOL Radio is amazing.

Wow, I didn't know you could do that. Thanks for sharing! :D

Ahg! Don't tempt me! I'm already spending my days battling housewives over at Pogo :lol Still, this does look very nice..

I'm twittering too, I kinda get it but don't really see its useful.

Then again I dont know anyone on it.

Twitter is one of those things that only makes sense once you turn it into a routine. And yeah, knowing people who already do it helps as well.

Edit: Hey! Crash Bandicoot: Nitro Cart is out.

Looks pretty sweeeet.

WoW, the Monkey Ball review is pretty harsh.
The review kind of makes it sound like it's absolutely unplayable. Which is hardly the case.

Whats so good about Motion X Poker? I'm genuinely curious. I was considering buying it but I wasn't sure what it was... is it like a video poker type game? Because poker games like that usually don't interest me without money (like the Texas Hold'Em game, no way I'm buying that unless I can gamble with it).
