Hmm. Just bought this for 99 cents in the Dutch store.

Liking it so far, but it's a little too hard and a little too random with ring sizes..

Random? I played a few games and it's 100% consistent. They expand until something stops them. Any wall, or another ring.

Hey, all - sorry to ask, but if you have a chance, if you've played Word Ace, if you could rate it on the App Store, that'd be a big help for us! (whether you loved or hated it, though obviously, we'd prefer if you loved it. :))

Thanks!

Modern Combat is such an accomplishment. The graphics are very nice and the controls are really good. Going by MC, I'd say iPhone is the easiest handheld to play a FPS on, it controls so well.

Hmmm, Orbital says $0.99 in the search results but on the actual page for the game, the button to buy still says $2.99.
Reboot your phone. Or buy it through iTunes. I've had that problem in the past with the iPhone Appstore not updating prices for some reason. A reboot solves it sometimes. I didn't want to wait the 60 seconds it would take to do that though and just used my laptop to download it then sync.

Orbital was never worth that much in comparison to other games, but I've played it loads and got my moneys worth, but did suggest at the time people should wait for a sale. Its nice but not must have.

very more-ish though cos it ends quickly and you can play just by holding your thumb down. one of those you can semi ignore while watching tv. and its so simple you convince yourself that you can surely get a good score, only you cant!

Just left a five-star review with a little mini-writeup as to why everyone should play this. :)

I need some help from The Quest players.

Quest in theory matches my strong desire for something in the Elder Scrolls vein on the iphone, but this game is hard as a bitch. I got one character to around level 10 or so, despite realising that half my skills like Light Weapons/Armour (against Heavy X) and Dual Wield (against Block) are utterly useless. Just following the flow of the game world completing as many quests as I can manage on the way, south of Vastares I'm finding those higher level Shaman's really tough even with the Mag resist I can put together. Combat has evolved to chugging down as many heals and mana pots I can to keep character standing.

I've also just been intensely annoyed by the amount of wandering and searching the quests often throw at you. "Find item X in Zone Y" are the pits.

So I bailed on my level 10, and started a new [magic race] for the 30% magic resist combo-ed heavy skills and helpful magic, and it's already crazy hard out of the gate, dozens of hits to take down those initial zone skeletons in the grave yard.

I'm just looking for some great character build recommendations, or maybe there's something about this game that I'm just not getting down. In the design sense, it's a great game, but mechanically I'm just finding it a constant tiring uphill battle.

Oh, if they ever make another game, I hope they use a less generic name that Quest - makes it quite a bitch to google player impressions and other player's thoughts on it.

You'll find mine on the NZ Appstore.

for the first time today I clicked on the itunes store and instead of going to the app store I clicked ipod games, lo and behold some games I had never seen before, some of which look surprisingly excellent.

can anyone give me a lowdown on some of these, even if its only what you've heard or read.

Crystal Defenders and Song Summoner by square enix in particular look very good, with CD looking like a typical fixed path tower defense (I like)

SS sounds awesome! using your ipod songs to create 'warriors' you can use in battle, with each one getting stronger the more you listen to the track.

though I notice they're designed for clickwheel play, so won't work with the touches?

iPod games are for the iPod classics (not sure if they work on the nanos). The apps for the iPod touch are in the Appstore.

There is a version of Crystal Defenders for the iPhone/touch. I'm not sure how SS creates warriors - if it's based not eh actual music, this isn't allowed in the iPhone firmware, but if it uses the metadata, I guess it's possible to exist not eh iPhone, though I'm unaware of a version.

Wait, what? There's a list of 10 songs in the app that you can choose, I don't see I'm On A Boat. Am I missing something? I WANNA FUCK A MERMAID!

It's listed as Coming Soon in the app description on the store. Patience, shawty.

I wish you could have it play any song as backing. The potential for hilarity over some instrumentals is pretty high.

DAMN TRUE!

After playing Duke Nukem on the iPhone I had lost hope of playing an FPS for the platform, but Modern Combat controls are soooooo good they easily beat anything on the PSP, the "move your finger anywhere on the screen to rotate head" is pure genius. I sincerely hope other FPS's for the iPhone copy this control method to hell.

I was mistaken. All that's available to "play" is what's listed at the moment.

therez loads of info from pax on TA right now. gameplay footage of:
blades of fury (best looking iphone game)
dungeon hunter (looks p good)
earthworm jim
shrek kart (dont care about babby shit)
asphalt 5 (looks p nice graphically with weather effects and shit, also it looks fun)

also livetest/killfire is now known as eliminate and theres some interesting infor

Eliminate looks great, I like how it has improved visually since a few months back.

I like the approach of having one plain battlesuit and being able to upgrade on top of it, I know they want to make money selling DLC and ingame items but if the game turns out fun, imo it will be worth it and be a good arcade shooter for on the move.

Also Blades of Fury gameplay from PAX

the ngmoco game looks good, but based on their structuring of the game, i now hope it's free with DLC you can buy. If they do that I think they'll have a thriving community.

Thanks for posting this. Finally some details...LiveFire was such a cooler name but either way I'll buy this and all the dlc day 1.

edit: DLC looks interesting...the game better be on the cheaper side to justify it. If I have to spend $X just to have full health in a deathmatch and to get good armor than I better not be paying $10 for the game.

Ya, it sucks they had to change the name...

But I guess it was because some other game trademarked the name or something.

The latest trailer seems to suggest that every 24 hours your suit is fully charged, while it has charge you earn ingame credits for kills and wins, once your suit is out of charge you can still play and enter matches but killing earns you nothing more then points. You can wait until the next day or buy a battery which gives back some charge when you use it, I take it that batteries and anything like that will be cheap DLC.

Oh thanks for clearing it up. I was multitasking but what I got out of the video was that your actually health would start lower. Their way is good then.

You can't do that on the store though. Free apps aren't allowed to have pay content, which is why there's a separate Word Ace and Word Ace Pro, the latter of which is 99 cents to let you buy DLC chips.

LOL! I was coming to say exactly that, and was beaten to the punch!

Hope you guys and girls are ready to play the best game console/pc ever, because the C64 emulator is out :D

http://www.c64iphone.com/

The five free games are: Dragons Den, Le Mans, Jupiter Lander, Arctic Shipwreck and Jack Attack.

Wow. I'm not sure I have any interest in getting this (since I still have my C64 in the garage), but Jupiter Lander is the first videogame I ever played, and I remember the experience clear as day.

How strange, that that moment is the start of a chain of events that led me to Self Awareness. :D

Basic seems to be disabled in C64, but if you start a game, and then press the RESET key, it seems to be enabled.

Bard's Tale or bust.

Not sure who owns the IP at the moment, as far as I know it is no longer in EA's hands but at this point I'll take Jump Man, Bruce Lee, Shamus and/or a billion other titles. Besides, Legacy of the Ancients was superior. ;)

For now I'll wait to buy because $5 for the ho-hum included titles isn't enough to make me jump. I used to love Dragon's Den as a kid but it hasn't aged well.

I AM glad it came out though. Awesome stuff. Now just give me some game packs.

Oh yeah, Jumpman! Probably licensing issues getting the Epyx summer and winter Olympic games, too. :(
