Krazy Kart Racing from Konami dropped to $3 (from $8). Anyone else gonna pick it up so we can get some online games going?
So many games drop in price like this, you are always best waiting a few weeks on most apps.

About to hit the hay, will play a ton of HYBRID tonight and give feedback in the morning.

hmmm ... Unify is cool, but keeps crashing on me.
Yeah it seems kinda buggy as shit on my 3G, I'm guessing at least part of it (if not a lot of it) is OpenFeint. Other than the rotated dialog thing, it gets choppy whenever an achievement comes up (and hardlocked my phone on my 2nd achievement). I was able to finish my first game though!

...even then that's due to another crash on the name entry screen. I actually lost it on level 39 somewhere in 39k, then when I started it up again it let me continue from some point where I then survived to that score, and apparently Normal mode ends on level 40? Even with 39k I'd be first though, so it's not entirely fraudulent!

My first impressions of Aera are.. either the game has a very steep learning curve.. or it's not as good at portraying the feeling of flight as I had hoped.
I was wondering about that, the trailer from way back looked nice but seemed...confusing? Like there was a disconnect with the guys movement and the on screen action, it was really weird.

mrWalrus said:
lol.. that's a lot of pressure to put on a guy. :lol

What are the impressions of the Konami Kart game? Does it play the same as Crash? better/worse?

I wasn't a big fan of it. The camera jerks around too much when turning and going over hills in the road, and the online lobby was completely deserted. Maybe it grows on you, I don't know, I didn't play it for long.

So is Duke Nukem 3D worth it for .99 even with what everyone complains about?

I haven't had a decent go since the controls were updated, but if the bugs were fixed, I thought it was fine before. I think you kind of had to have a history of Duke to full appreciate it. The game is flawed on the iPhone for sure, and the release is a true screw up. 99c is pretty low, though.

Wait, so it wasn't just me? I thought I had died, but when I booted up it asked me to continue... I was wondering if I had just remembered incorrectly, or what...

Actually I think it crashed again at some point after that and had the continue option up again. Tried it for the hell of it and just brought me back to the end screen with name entry (which wasn't saved apparently) and score submission. I guess it only takes one score per user, otherwise I'd have the top two spots with the same score.

OMG!! You just blew my mind! That worked! I never thought to do it that way at all! I assumed the laser had to be in the top right corner because it's the most direct way.

Wow... I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!

That's pretty ingenious!

Electric box got some more levels! I'm putting this back on and reworking my way through the first 50. Looking at the puzzle you had trouble with again brought back some fond memories.

Is it good? Ive been somewhat disapointed with Crash Bandicoot tbh.

Just finished my first game of unify. it was everything I was hoping for. :D

and, as I expected, I got totally freaked out by the end. I scored 26,100 points on my first try and then the colors started messing me up and I couldn’t keep up.

I suspect I’ll do better on subsequent playthroughs.

this one is definitely a keeper. yet another game that I would easily, EASILY pay over 5 bucks for yet it’s only a dollar.

A DOLLAR.

WTF!!!

Hmm, I wonder if it'll be the same package as the Wii version, or are they releasing each mini-game induvidually? The TAPRUNNER logo worries me a bit.

Can't wait to get my iPhone, phone company I ordered from seems to be getting steadier shipments from Apple, at last.

I would do dirty, DIRTY things for an Escape Velocity on the iPhone. That would be an awesome time sink! I want to believe it can happen, considering Ambrosia has been publishing some small iPhone games..

Watch for Warp Gate, it looks like it's going to fill that void, and the creators have even said that Escape Velocity was an inspiration. Should be coming soon.

Well 99 cents is the "special introductory price", who knows what the regular price is supposed to be.

And now I'm 2 for 2:

I don't know if I'll have time for Easy and Medium today but I'll go for them eventually.

Awesome, makes the victory even better.

...even if it is another sham score! My real score was like 9k before the game crashed again. Still would've been good for first though.

panelfly looks amazing, it's a new 99¢ comic-reader with a really beautiful interface and an interesting way to handle scanning between panels. i'm a comiczeal man right now, so it's definitely competing with the perfection of that app. apparently, it knows intuitively how far to scan to get to the next panel, so you just tap the right side of the screen and it moves automatically to the next one. i wonder how well this works on all comics, and if you can import your own.

what really interests me is the built-in 'itunes store' type deal you can purchase new comics from. never heard of any of these but one of them looks like o'malley, and they all look pretty interesting.

what the hell?

lose/lose by the creator of Unify

"Although lose/lose is a video-game, everything that happens while you play is real. Each alien is procedurally generated out of a file on your computer. When you kill an alien, the file it was created from is destroyed. On the other hand, if you are killed, the application itself will be destroyed."

I really like the iVerse Comic reader. You can buy a lot of good comics that you may have actually heard of, and the way they adapt comics is very well done. .99 cents for the app, almost all first issues are free, and comics are .99 cents and purchassed in-app.

Great stuff!

Castle Warriors is interesting. It's like Star Defense + Galcon.

Battle for Queen and Country: skewer a few clichés along the way.

Queen Mynera rules a lovely land threatened by despicable foes. Of course, you are her only hope. Castle Warriors is a tensely fought, tightly paced RTS game set in a landscape that gently tweaks all those fantasy tropes from the games of yore. Lead armies of warriors, veterans, warlords, heroes and even giants, against goblins, orcs, ogres, trolls and demons. You must take and defend castles, use superior strategy and tactical timing to gain advantage before claiming victory.

You must Creep on the Borderlands, defend Waterseep, and find the Temple of Elemental Good. And what possible trouble could a few missing magic items be? Hmmmm…

FEATURES
Simple touch controls
12 battlefields linked in a campaign
Castles that upgrade during the battle, with new capabilities and defenses
Difficulty modes to suit your style of play

Buy Castle Warriors now. Because if you don’t stop evil now, what chance will you have in the sequel?

LMFAO. Omg. Imagine Unify is another sick game by ZG and it's deleting random emails, apps, pictures and songs for every combo you get.

"Art game" comes to mind.

Anyway just finished endless medium and got the high score for that. On to easy!

I want to be playing Unify, but for some reason I feel like playing Electric box (10 new levels), so I loaded it up again and started from scratch. Nearly at the 50th level....

looks interesting. I'm more interested about the reading interface.

I'll stick with comiczeal for now

OK so Hybrid is AMAZING but also has a story which is throwing so much info at you sometimes you feel like it's too much. Gameplay is all about your combo skills if you like that kind of thing and there is no overworld apart from a map select screen, very pick up and play game.

Will play more and make a thread about it, gaf needs to learn about the awesome.

So I deleted Hybrid. I'm not a huge rpg fan to begin with, had I been I'm sure I could find reasons to like it but the story seemed generic and cheesy and the battles were more button mashing than anything else. I'm sure a lot of people will love it, I didn't love Zenonia either, but I played it for 45 minutes and didn't want to move on. It did have a pretty cool style though.

Happy that I got it for free...is anyone else loving it?

Oh I also hate how the sprites are so damn small and I had difficulty pulling off combos.

Edit: lol @ a both extremes of Hybrid impressions being posted at the same time. For me the story wasn't intriguing enough and since it's story, battle, story, battle, neither mechanic was better than "ok."

I liked the idea of Zenonia but the pixel stretching drive me crazy; is Hybrid the same way where you can tell it was not originally meant for the iPhone resolution?

It's native now, unless you want to zoom in.

Normal (text only in cut scenes)

Zoomed in (minimal hud, optional)

Oh I didn't realize you could zoom in.

But yeah, it's not for me. I'm not saying it's bad, just saying I didn't find the story to be interesting (I'm sure anyone who's played it can see where I'm coming from calling it generic and cheesy) and neither are the battles. I have much better things to play.

So the update for Monkey Island provided a graphical upgrade by having anti-aliased scenes. I think it looks really good:

Version 1.0 first, version 1.1 second in each set:

Ya, I really wished they said that the update was going to be fucking huge, and that you should download it on your computer..Downloaded it on my phone and had some real issues

All updates are just reinstalling the software, even if they are just patches. Software requires double space to install - it copies over the package, then installs it and deletes the package. I assume it then transfers save data over, and deletes the original app.

Any update to Monkey island will always be 350MB.

The Battle for Pirate Bay is free today

I havent played any of these type of games. (Flight control clones) but you cant say no to free

I know what you mean. I downloaded, and didn't even install it to see what it was like. I just will keep it for a rainy day.

Not sure but I have comic zeal and it works pretty well. It's $1 you sync the comics over wifi from a
mac or pc.
