Unless I'm missing something, Mafia Wars has been out for over two years now on iPhone.

wat?

Ah sorry. I was about it on Friday, and the person said "It's out now on iPhone". Either they thought it was new, or I took it the wrong way slightly. Either way, its awesome :)

I like the new rules so that devs can have premium DLC in a free app.

Downloaded Rolando 2, finished the first chapter, and now I don't have to buy the game cos I'm bored of it. :D

It's also a great hook for all those shitty 'Lite' versions out there. 'Play 2 levels of our game, buy the next chunk for 99p to continue playing!'

Great idea, IMO.

I do not like Hook Champ at all. Aesthetics are lovely but it's SO fiddly to play. It's clearly a nice little game, but - despite initial appearances to the contrary - feels shoehorned onto a system that can't hack the control scheme. It just left me feeling a distinct lack of fun after two levels, so I switched it off. SADFACE.

Holy shit Hook Champ is awesome.

Reminds me a bit of the swinging mechanic in Bionic Commando, where it's a lot faster than running but the timing has to be just right.

try upgrading ur rope and hook. it feels smooth as hell once you do.

Rock Band looks damn expensive, $10US, at least songs are two for $1US instead of $1.99

Game doesn't seem very impressive to me, I really enjoyed what they did with the psp version too.

Man, what the hell does it do in Soosiz when you collect all the little people in the levels? That's my least favorite part... I usually just end up skipping them because they seem to serve no purpose (other than the ones that make you jump higher)

I decided I'm going to hold out. I have way too many games to play as it is, and this game doesn't seem to excite me as much as DDR.

It's not going anywhere. Nothing to do with the price (well, if it was a $1 i'd bite), just the gameplay doesn't seem super compelling, and I don't know many of the songs.

That said, maybe hypocritical, as gameplay essentially is no different to DDR, and I know NONE of the songs in that, yet I love the game.

Finished Dungeon Hunter this morning with a warrior, easily my fave iPhone game. Playing again as a Mage now. Everyone should play DH!

I've been very tempted the past few days to by it. I've heard negative things about the controls though... plus I won't have an extra seven bucks to throw around until next week. But its definately on my list of games to check out

Turn off the d-pad and the controls are perfect. Seriously, don't let the controls hold you back on this one.

rock band for iphone is glorious!
cant check out the local multiplayer on my first gen iphone because apple arbitrarily locked out p2p bluetooth :(

everything else is amazing, the game runs amazingly smooth on my first gen much much smoother than the tap tap revenge 3

this game is the best rhythm game on the iphone hands down :D :D :D

This man speaketh the truth - Dungeon Hunters is amazing with click to move/attack

Rock Band is great. Much better than the PSP track switching stuff. The controls work well and it sounds good(although it needs more bass).

I already bought one of the song packs as well. Excellent job with the pricing, EA.

$0.99 for 2 songs on the iPhone...

...or $1.99 for 1 song on PSP. What's wrong with this picture? :lol

Does firmware 3.0 hate the first gen ipod touch? Every since i installed it, there is very noticeable lag when trying to switch and select music and podcasts. And every couple times I sync, it has to rebuild the library which means a couple minutes of waiting. What is up with that?

Maybe it's just because that you're more likely to play the songs more on PSP as opposed to an iPod or iPhone? I would have no idea other than that.

Really enjoying Rock Band. Not to sure how the online stuff works for World Tour though. Specifically the Open Jam stuff. Am I randomly grouped with other players on facebook - not necessarily on my friend's list?

I found True Love!

I mean..I just finished Hi, How Are You?
It was pretty good. Like I said before, worth the dollar for the graphics/crazy style.

Back to Hook Champ.

Man, I went to the iTunes store to buy Hook Champ while it was still 99 cents.. I sat there for a while contemplating it, since I had just bought Canabalt for 2.99 last night and was having buyers remorse (it's a really good game, it's the new Doodle Jump for me, but it's a bit pricey at $3).

Buy the time I decided to buy it, I click on it.. "This item is being modified. Please try again." I'm like, well sweet, an update!

Nope, they put it back to 2.99. :(

:lol

Oh well, they updated the page saying it has a lite version coming out soon, at least that's a plus.

Whatever their reasoning, I'd feel pretty burned if I bought any songs for the PSP version right now. Luckily I didn't.

If Canabalt had launched a 99 cents, I probably would've grabbed it too.
IMO Hook Champ > Canabalt (judging from the flash version)

I just got Rock Band. I'm already bored with it. The "vocals" are stupid. The entire game is way too fucking easy. I've played the hardest songs on the hardest difficulty and 5-starred all of them.

Don't waste your money, imo.

Interesting. I like the difficulty, but I'm a fairly weaksauce Rock Band player.

work has officially begun on a friendswithyou app/game.

I'm hoping to work with some GAFers such as the boys at Headcase Games(check ur e-mail please!), but anyone else interested who already has made an app feel free to contact me. We are currently shopping around to pick up a dev to work with us.

we want to make a fart app... jk :lol

When I saw it, it looked very unengaging. Without the fake instruments, you're tapping pairs of buttons. I know games like DDR in essence are no different, but in DDR you are looking at patterns of steps as well, and you're playing to the song, not just one instrument track.

Well they know this is how the App store works, you really just pay to play sooner when you buy at a high price.

I keep hoping I'll come in here and see Kill Test/Live Fire/whatever they ended up calling it (it's been so long) released. It's taking forever.

Undercroft is out. And it's really, really good.

Think Might and Magic / Bards Tale / Etrian with extremely polished gameplay and interface. 4 person party RPG played in the first person.

The price is a bit steep (4.99), but it says you're going to get a 20 hour RPG out of the deal. There is a lite version as well:

Loving it so far... just got out of the first town.

I'm tempted... Plus they were smart with the lite version: you can transfer your save file from the lite to the full version.

So far about the friendswithyou app: gotten good responses so far from Headcase Games and Self Aware Games and possibly mrWalrus :-)

I've also e-mailed the people who made Soosi, the peeps who made Hook Champ, as well as others.

I'm primarily trying to get this made with an indie dev since I find most indie games have more heart than larger Corp made titles... Plus I love indies <3

Goddamn it, I've deleted apps off my iPhone and freed 1gb of space but Dexter refuses to install, says there isn't enough space. So frustrating...

Dexter's down to 2 bucks. I feel bad for people who nabbed it at full price.

This is the reason I never buy iPhone games at launch. Game released for $6 and it's only been just over a month and it's just 2 bucks now.

I guess I'm part of the problem, but I'd feel like a sucker for buying these games right away.

What makes Dexter worth it?

I guess what I'm asking is, would the game be worth if it didn't have the Dexter name on it? I just don't want to play a mediocre game because I'm a fan of the show.

An etiquette question for the powers that be and other fellows on this forum, because together with Bliddo I'm a few weeks away from publishing a new game on the AppStore.

Is it considered bad manner to write about it here since I'm both a GAF user and one of the game developers? Is there a proper way to share this with other gaffers? It's not viral marketing (we're not doing games as a living), but as gamers we'd like to show you what we've been up to lately.

Thanks!
