Quest is realtime and 3d. I personally liked Undercroft better, but there should be demos of both.

Thanks.
For some reason I have something against getting FREE, Lite (demos) versions of Iphone games. Either I buy them or wait for them to become free.
Pretty stupid, but I have so many games, that demos seems like waste of time.

Same with "lite"-products where you buy the major part of the game as In-app purchase. That gets deleted quickly if I accidentally get one of those.

I might try these out though.

Undercroft light version is more than the usual 3-5 minutes and you can continue your game in the full version.

I am a fan of these 90° turn games so I like this better than The Quest. It is a matter of taste, but anyway this is executed very well.

I'm a little like that, but it's kind of silly. If there's a game you just want to see, then the light is handy, and like most demos, normally convince me I don't want it.

Still have my copy of Dungeon Master to the Atari ST.
That and Elite are some of the few games I still play on the Atari when I get an opportunity.

Still have my Atari ST, SNES and PC-Engine copies of Dungeon Master, but nothing to play them (played the PC-Engine version on PSP). Now I hope the iphone Amiga emulator will play Dungeon Master or one of the Beholders/Lands of Lore.

So there's a deal for Ipod Touch 8GB for like $154 shipped this weekend. Is this a good deal? I was thinking about jumping in on an iPod Touch...

Strongly suggest playing We Rule. Downloaded because it's ngmoco and free, and ended up getting kind of addicted. Started off wondering why anyone would buy Mojo, 15 minutes later I knew :lol . Godfinger is okay too. Haven't played too much of it though.

that’s 50 bucks less than retail and is a decent deal.

BUT please note that if gaming is going to be a big thing for you on the iPod touch, you will appreciate the much better performance of the 32 GB model (uses much faster CPU and has 2X RAM)

some games will run almost twice as fast and loading games is about twice as fast.

but, anyway, for casual games here and there, the 150 price is hard to beat.

I been playing a lot of the new co-op mode in eliminate, it's real fun and much better then DM, if anyone here still has eliminate on their device...

Quick question, does anyone know how to enable Push for We Rule? I opted not to when I initially loaded, and now I know you pretty much need too. No option to do it though from in game from what I see...

-=-Hey iPhone GAF-=-

Just a nice reminder of our awesome iPhone Game List created by GAF members, and able to be edited by all! Sign your name on a particular game you like, or add your own game to the list!

It can be found HERE.

go to main settings app on iPhone. then tap on “notifications” then on the “we rule” header

You can turn off push messages in the individual categories by going to the menu and hitting "Notifications".

Yeah the push doesn't matter it's more of the core gameplay. Push messages are awesome, but they're not awesome when the core gameplay is that the farms produce every 3 minutes and generate only 20 gold. Then you're getting push messages every 3 minutes and you have to harvest the gold or "it rusts."

With We Rule in contrast it is 1 hour, 5 hours, 12 hours or 1 day (or maybe more) between various types of crops. That's handled much better.

Maybe Godfinger gets more reasonable as the game goes along, but so far it's a bit odd.

I completely agree that Godfinger's gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. Outside of flinging my followers and dealing with the endless grind to get their energy back up so they can churn out a little gold so I can maybe buy another thing to restore their energy with, I don't know what to do. I have the Lightning miracle and was hoping there'd be more common enemies, but it was just the one skeleton as the tutorial.

I've been playing with my new iPod Touch for a week now, and have fallen in love with games on the platform. I want to give a sincere thanks to gaf for telling me about Space Miner... it's easily one of my favorite, up there with Real Racing.

I'm not sure if had been mentioned, but California Gold Rush 2 is a fantastically addictive spelunking game. It kind of reminds me of Miner Dig Deep (on XBIG), but with incredible polish.

I'm certainly glad I went with the 32gb model, because I'm filling this thing up with apps a lot faster than I thought I would :D

I'm wondering if anyone has played Ravensword? Seems like a cool indie version of Oblivion. Wish there was a demo.

Took the bite, it's a nice game! I like these new puzzle games which use the touchscreen wisely. If you like Tetris Attack/etc then check this out.

Also checked out Word Rush lite. I am fast becoming a big fan of word games (Textropolis is my fave, Scramble 2 was fun for awhile). This is a good game and absolutely check out the lite. I wish the aesthetics were a little nicer (it feels very... I dunno, 1970's German!) but the game itself is fun. Worth a couple bucks, but definitely check out the lite to see if it's for you.

As for Bit Pilot, which a lot of people are loving - I can see the appeal, but fundamentally I have an issue with these type of fast-action games which have a lot going-on onscreen while you have two fingers required to be there to control it - it makes it frustrating and annoying for me. I wish they'd have a smaller playfield with dedicated areas for the button sensors, personally, because it gets too distracting for me. iPhone gaming is still relatively fresh, so it's understandable that a lot of devs haven't adopted a standard yet, though.

EDIT: Hopefully submitting our action puzzler 180 this week. We'll see what happens...! I encourage criticism..

So I really love Godfinger. The art is great and so is the controls. I'm level 10 or 11 atm and I'm stating to feel like I need some more goals, more tasks. I would like to think there is more coming and am sure there is but looking ahead at the unlocks I feel like it will be a bit of a grind with no incentive.
Is there... more to do?
I really want it to be a game not a toy.
Thoughts?

why's everyone playing tilt to live? I still pref Bit Pilot alot more.
I have a feeling I'd get really annoyed by the controls, mostly cause the momentum. I would rather have that music though.

It kinda reminded me of Meteos actually. Can you swap any two blocks around the screen or just adjacent ones?

From a video I saw it looked like it kept the ship in the center of the screen and moved everything else around it, not a bad workaround really. At the least your ship should always be in view that way, assuming your thumbs stay towards the bottom/side area.

Having played both Tilt To Live and Bit Pilot, I find Bit Pilot much easier to control. The tilt controls feel way too twitchy for precise avoidance with a lot of enemies, while Bit Pilot has the sensitivity right so that you get really precise control.

Does Brothers in Arms 2 support multiplayer for more than 2 players over Bluetooth? If it doesn't are there any FPSs that do? I ask because I was dissapointed when NOVA didn't and me and my friends could do with a multiplayer FPS for when we're out and about.

I'm kind if wondering if Apple restrict Bluetooth to one to one connectiity. Seems like something they'd do, and it is odd it isn't in NOVA.

mrWalrus gave me a promo code for his (crazy hard) new platformer "An Impossible Game", but I had already bought it yesterday.

Send me a PM if you want it and I'll pick someone at random after Caprica (10 PM ESTish) tonight.

same guy, different guy ripping him off, or utter coincidence?

I'm feeling the same way about We Rule as well. My feeling is that they're following the web development model, which is "release early, update often."

I'd expect lot constant updates to keep people on the progression trail and playing the game. We probably won't see anything new for a little while though since Canada is kinda the beta test for the game.

XNA game was published 11/23/09.. I've seen it there for a while.

No idea about the MrWalrus series, but a quick search shows they did SynthRacer.

Past that, I have no idea who's first or if there's even common people on both.

EDIT:
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=47939&page=2

They are aware of the other project and say theirs goes further

EDIT 2:
I picked up a promo code from another forum. Going to try them both out now :D

I'd say more than anything, it's a tribute to the platformers I played growing up.

You could say the game was just as inspired by Canabalt, the Gamma IV competition which featured one-button games (that I didn't get a chance to enter), or even the talk Cactus Squid gave at GDC this year on 'Abusing Players Just For Fun' (link).

More than anything it's a quick project I tossed together as a challenge to myself. I'm not a programmer, but it's something I created using Game Salad (link) over the course of two weeks. The engine has a ways to go, but I still encourage people to check it out. It's quite powerful.

The game is only version 1.001, but it's something I plan on building upon, and is already quite fun. I really enjoyed the XNA game, but personally wanted a little more. Something with multiple levels, multiple objectives, easter eggs.. something featuring a walrus.

I'm putting finishing touches on the first update now and plan to keep updating it for a while. I know it's a forced progression platformer, featuring a block, utilizing one button.. but everything else is different. I just hope people can enjoy the game rather than getting caught up/hating based on anything extracurricular.

edit:
updated with links

Haven't gotten to try the XNA game, but the iPOD game definitely lives up to the name :D

Nice Mario vibe :D

And I'm a horrible player, I must have tried and failed at the same spot 20 time before I gave up and moved on :)

Yeah they've been testing that for ages... Have they not sorted out the servers yet?
I'm all good on the free games model but I feel like they're doing it wrong... I don't know.
Eliminate seems to be working well but I feel the best way was the eps for rolando 2.
First part free (Eg lite without calling it lite) and in app upgrade. This way we get real games with no piracy. Give me a Star Defence 2 with in app upgrade

Hmm, gonna check this out when I get back home! :D

I highly recommend it. I'm doing prototypes for the FriendsWithYou application while we are looking for a programmer and it works great for testing things out.

The nice thing about it is that it's easy to test things immediately and requires pretty basic understanding of algorithms more so than coding. I love it.

After the "next project" that I'll be working on with mrWalrus I'm going to be working on some self training stuff with salad as well ^_^

We Rule updated for me today. Actually gave a msg in-game to tell me I needed to update and took me to the store.

Didn't check the update notes. Anyone know what was changed/fixed?

Another question: does the huge frog with the crown on his head just appear randomly or is there a reason?

Spent way too much time playing Tilt to Live on a trip to Costa Rica (fuck the rain forest). It's great, but your success in the game is almost entirely dictated by your luck in the power-up draw. Sometimes you get spike several spike shields in a row, just when you need them. Sometimes you get no shields at all for long periods of time.

Hoping they'll give the power-ups a bit more regularity and strategy in a future update.

Hey NeoGAF. I've finally gotten around buying my first game which was the awesome Plant vs. Zombies.
Before that I only played Word Wrap which I still enjoy very much, and some Mahjong solitaire kinda game that's alright.

I saw some screenshot of a dungeon crawler that looked awesome but I can't remember the name? Has any of you any idea what I'm talking about?

The only thing I really don't like about the iTouch is that if I want to upgrade to the 3.0 OS version I have to fucking pay £5 or something like that. What a rip off

Gameloft Sale

* Earthworm Jim
* Blades of Fury
* Real Soccer 2010
* Dungeon Hunter
* Skater Nation

for 99c till 21th march

In for EWJ. The demo ran silky smooth and I got used to the controls pretty quickly. Also picked up Blades of Fury. Soul Calibur clone, but can't beat $1.

Already owned Dungeon Hunter, which I absolutely love. Kind of tough and janky in parts, but good fun.
