Anybody that has bought Sim City? Does it work out good on the iPod touch?

I've got it on my 2nd Gen Touch and it works great! If you want a portable Sim City 3000 then go for it. I haven't had any troubles and it's a lot of fun, much better than either of the DS Sim City games. It's basically the full PC experience on your portable.

There have been a bunch of updates for it over the months that fixed stability and things like that. I haven't had any issues with it myself though.

BTW guys how much was rolando supose to be? some people over at TA are saying it's gone UP in price but it's still £3.49 here, just wondering if I shoudl dive in for it tonight instead of tomorrow when the UK store updates.

I am picky with my money.

*edit* seems their twitter is saying Rolando 1 is staying, and topple 1 will return. dunno if that is all true or not.

*double edit*

Bah, I bet it was all a ruse. They threatened to take it down, people bought it out of fear, and if enough people complained, they'd put it back, looking like heroes. Win for them in every scenario.

What game is that?

I imagine Topple 2 will go up in price then if Topple 1 is coming back?
My guess? Topple 1 comes back at 59p / 99cent and Topple 2 goes back to being £1.79 / $2.99

Topple 1 became free for ages but with the sequel on the store, no way they would give us the first for free again, it's more or less what 2 is.

I never heard of iSR, will give it a shot!

iSR

I'm going to try to add all the GAF made games to the recommendation thread in the next day or so.

Yeah, it's out.
(I'm the designer)

We're not really pushing it tho. :lol
It's just a fun experience that we're working on.

Basically, it's Star Fox + Wipeout + Star Wars * Rez = Synth Racing

Dude I haven't checked my email in a couple of weeks. I got a nasty ear infection and bronchitis and have been in and out of the doctor's office the last two weeks. Sorry :(I I will add the game to recommendation thread though in the GAF games section.

Busy thread tonight.

So I have spent like £5 on app's over the last 7 or so days and have like 5 awesome games to play:

iSR
Warpack Grunts
Circuit_Strike one
Knights Onrush
Must.Eat.Burds
Draw Race

And a few more I am looking at:

Rolando 1 & 2 (big whack in cash for me right now)
Cali Gold Rush (looks great, playing lite first)

And then there's a ton of app's I already have which live on my phone.

That may be the worst starting selection of music I've ever seen in a videogame. :D
yeah for sure :lol

at least all the new songs (the dev has full access to the sony catalog) will be free and the game engine is really nice.

edit:

Yikes!! that sucks Stoney. Hope you're well now.
Make sure you check out the new build we sent. :D that's the release build.

btw, only recommend it if you feel it's worth recommending. I mean, we're stoked, the reviews have been good (both through iTunes and TA) but I know the game is still a little rough around the edges. Would love to get GAF's feedback too of course. iSR has a loooooong ways to go.

iSR dev posts here? cool.

I bought that last week when I saw it posted on TA and was pleasantly surprised. Very fun game even in it's current state.

Annoying. Ever since 3.0 my iphone has been slow as shit downloading or updating. I haven't had to do it much since then so I kept forgetting to mention it. Anybody else have this issue?

Thinking about doing a full restore to see if that fixes the issue.

Same for me.

Also the dreaded 3.0 Icon Issue.

All the "GAF games" will be under their own heading in that thread. The implicit idea being these are the games that GAF members made. Show your patronage sort of thing. Somebody suggested it in the recommedation thread and I thought it was a good idea.

Comments:

iSR is awesome I just wish it had music. Really great experience, I love it.

Tap Star is a great alternative to Tap Tap Revenge. I love the gameplay, look and controls. I can't figure out how to make a username for my high scores though.

Great values.

I also got Draw Racer since my friends were over. Pretty fun, but probably won't ever play by myself.

Has everyone seen iYamato?

YouTube

It's a really hectic ship battle defense...I don't even know. Just boat mayhem. I want it but enough is enough, so I put it on my favorites list in PandoraBox.

Goddammit, it's pretty much getting to the point where I just see ".99" and instantly click to buy.

Loading up iYamato now...

blah, I need to unsubscribe from this thread. just purchased iYamato after watching that video :lol still need to get Hero of Sparta

Also, warpack grunts: yes or no

Really? I don't really pay attention but I've only seen "tested on 3.0" so far, I haven't noticed any 3.0-only app.
iTunes always warns me that it can't install LatKin Lite on my iPhone as it requires 3.0. The full game LatKin only needs 2.2.1.

Didn't realize Doom was an on-rails shooter. I think I'll pass. Not a big fan of that genre any more. I really need to add a couple of great games to my iPhone though. What's the best RPG?

Well, it's more of an "action-RPG" than a true RPG (think Zelda with levelling, skills, and a lot of story), but Zenonia is considered the best RPG-like game on the system. And their recent update definitely fixed the virtual d-pad, so the game is finally playable. Still not perfect, of course, but the game is fun now.

Capcom should really release episodic Phoenix Wright games on iPhone/iTouch, it's fucking perfect for it.

Got iYamato as well, looks nice, also because 99c is not real money any more!:lol

Stoney Mason said:
I don't know. I'm actually fairly selective at this point outside of my Doom breakdown today.

Yeah, I've become very selective. Especially since I limit games to one page. That means 16 games max. I'm much better at impulse buying now. I've learnt a few times that even at 99c, a game may not be something I enjoy.

If it was $3 at the most for an episode, I would eat that up.

A couple quick impressions:

Warpack Grunts - Decent, the controls leave a bit to be desired..

Draw Race - Entertaining even by myself. The game itself sounds stupid but it's actually very fun.

iYamato - Fun, a little too loose on the controls, but it's a good start.

I'll be trying out iSR soon. Looks great :D

DrawRace is super addictive, you're continuously trying to beat your own time and others.

Saw that was released today, looks awesome.

So what's the best Tower Defense game? I'm definitely picking up Zenonia for RPG fun but I need a good TD game.

Geodefense definitely, but Star Defense is pretty good also.

The main TD games to check out are:

Geodefense (hardest)
Star Defense (most polished)
Fieldrunners (most open-ended)
The Creeps (most variety)

should probably just get all of them.
