It's clearly not thought out well either. The button layout shows A and B as the main buttons, while showing C up in the corner.

Anyone who has played Streets Of Rage knows that the game used B and C as its main buttons, while A is for special attacks (the car). This setup is ridiculous.

You can remap the buttons in Streets of Rage, but it's silly to do that in the first place.

As for why they don't port Bare Knuckle mobile? Because every iPhone based application is based out of Sega Of America. Anything ever done by Sega of Japan has almost never made its way to America. See: Sega Ages 2000 collections, why Backbone is behind Ultimate Genesis Collection, Sega Vintage Collection and iPhone, and why the Virtual Console emulators are not used in games made for America, outside of Sonic Mega Collections.

It's a stupid, stupid waste of resources, but what can you do?

Streets of Rage doesn't work on 3G:S phones. Sega didn't even bother to test this lump of shit.

How does stuff like this get approved by Apple yet a lot of great stuff (the C64 emulator) doesn't make the cut.

Ok thanks. When I use safari it eats up the battery as well. Definitely wouldn't last 20 hours.
Try turning down the screen brightness, it's default at 50 or 60% but I use it at about 35%, once you become use to it being a little lower you forget how stupidly bright it was as default, plus it helps with the battery life.

20+ hours for browsing and video? :lol Please show me your magical iphone that can pull that off.

This is from Apple's own page
Hey it was getting late and I was trying to help :) my 2g touch does get a fairly long time doing such things though, it's games which kill the battery for me.

I'd loved to buy SOR (I love the shit out of the series in general) but I've heard it's unplayable on the 3GS so I can't really justify buying it. Also, Even if it was playable I probably wouldn't buy it because Sega's support has been pretty iffy.

Every Sega title I've bought for the iphone has been horribly horrible. As a matter of fact, every Sega title I've bought for any console over the last 10 years has been horrible. Bleh!

try rebooting the phone first or, if that does not work, uninstalling then reinstalling the app.

if it actually could not load at any 3GS phone, it would not have been approved.

Ported games with the controls on the screen just doesn't work for me

Apple testing is like shooting in the dark, it may load and run on the 3gs but I wonder how far they played before they realised how laggy and jumpy it is. The big names get special treatment on the iphone.

So I gave PowerPros Touch a good run last nite and it's a very good quality game and easily the best baseball game on the iphone. Also the vertical game play is actually perfect for one handed play which is perfect for anyone taking the train or bus. Graphics are typical bright PP style. Gameplay is dumbed down but still works well. Also while its really hard to strike out (or strike someone else out), scoring runs isn't as easy as others have said if you play on a more difficult setting. Lots of good options and a nice flow to the game. Easily worth it over any of the other baseball games.

how are the customization options or did they get stripped from the game?

There isn't really any that I have found, you have season and exhibition mode, and that's about it.

I agree with this!

iPod Touch 2nd Gen here. I finally took the plunge and bought the upgrade to 3.0, is anybody's download speed super slow after the update? Everything works fine but when I'm trying to download a new app or upgrade an app, the downloads are super slow.

Completely agree with everyone on PowerPros. After mulling it over, I gave in and just got it anyway :lol Glad I did since I'm loving it.

Also, yeah, Zenonia's definitely bought at that price.

IGN writeup: Eight Great Unsung iPhone Games

glad they featured DownToZero, it's really not getting enough attention

While falling block puzzler fans have been gravitating to the admittedly excellent Drop7 since its arrival on the App Store, we'll hold our hands up and admit that it requires a level of mental computation and foresight that's too much for us, even on a good day. Instead, our puzzler of choice is the simple yet superbly implemented DownToZero. It's stupendously straightforward in concept - select a numbered block and drag your finger across neighbouring squares to subtract those numbers from your starting point. As the name implies, once you hit zero, those blocks will disappear.

The twist is that they'll beep shrilly for a couple of seconds before disappearing, given you the slimmest amount of time to hunt down another sequence of squares to form a chain. Each successful sequence starts the countdown from the top meaning high scores come from rapid observation, mental arithmetic and precise co-ordination. It's unbelievably tense and hugely compulsive - with the game's 1-minute Time Attack mode being an absolute gem. Throw in responsive touch-screen controls, 3-minute Time Attack and Endless Modes, a Global online leader board and a delightfully appealing minimalist retro vibe and we can't recommend it highly enough.

They also featured Taxiball (grats helava), Radio Flare, Mecho Wars, Parachute Panic, KarmaStar, Doodle Jump, and Eliss.

Been playing Zenonia alot today. Digging it but it feels more like a Make your own RPG game than anything..
i've just started it, despite from the terrible writing and anime artstyle (with the main character being a rip of cloud) its pretty fun.

Woah they changed all the music, the menu music is brand new, a shame in a way because the old menu music was great.

First 'Space Invaders Infinity Gene' iPhone Gameplay Video

Youtube link

http://toucharcade.com/2009/07/17/first-space-invaders-infinity-gene-iphone-gameplay-video/

News of Taito's upcoming Space Invaders remake to the iPhone seemed to generate a lot of interest. The new game is described as an evolution of the Space Invaders original:
Evolution is the primary concept behind SPACE INVADERS INFINITY GENE. The game evolves as you play it, gradually shifting and transforming from the classic game we're all familiar with to something fresh and new.
As the player progresses through the game, shooting down enemies, collecting points, and passing in-game milestones, he or she will be greeted with [the Evolution screen]. This signals that the game has transformed in some way. A new special ability, weapon, subsystem, etc., has evolved and is available for use.

Taito has just posted the first video of the game being played on the iPhone. The previous video we saw was from the Japanese mobile edition, but the iPhone version is said to be considerably more polished and expanded

OMG! I need this now!!!

i'm not even a big fan of space invaders but holy crap louis.

also, is real racing worth £5.99? I was gonna wait it out untill a price drop but now i'm tempted with the new patch...
Get it. It's the best racegame on the iPhone BY FAR and I actually think it's the best race game available on any portable platform. GTMobile will probably be better, but that game will be €30-40 more expensive...

Thanks for pointing this out, Costanza! Despite obsessively searching for Taxiball news, I hadn't seen it yet! Thank you!

If firemint make a real racing 2 in the future I would love to see a carrear mode to allow us to use minor engine upgrades and buy cars, real racing is a great game but it just feels like arcade mode and is over in a matter of hours if you play solid to unlock all cups, the new exotic class seems to be locked until you 100% the other cups so there is plenty to do again, also the online modes are great fun but feel a lot like a novelty, I do less TT runs now then a few weeks back as I find single race more fun against 5 other cars then racing 1 hotlap.

If you have mates then multi is much better now too, originally it was limited to 1v1 local but now you can race with 6 cars, just wish I was not the only idevice owning friend out of my group of buddies.

Between the scrolling text and flashing screen at the end, my eyes are on fire.

Still need this game nao though.

Extra nugget of information gleaned from the video by offworld
As expected, shows off the directly touch-controlled, the new a-typically breakneck pace, and a new mode which lets you use your iTunes library as the backdrop for special original stages, though there's no word yet whether these are dynamically generated or just made available specifically for your music.

Confirmed hotness.

This new feature just makes me want AudioSurf for the iPhone! We know it's coming... Just don't know when...

I don't have Real Racing yet, either.

I'm not waiting for the price to drop, I'll pay the asking price...I just don't need it yet. I'm working through the games I already have, and I still haven't beaten Need for Speed. So I don't want to buy a new game just yet. Some games I break the rules for, like Radio Flare, but Real Racing can wait.

Playing a lot of Baseball Slugger 3D: I am a strikeout machine against the high cheese and just about anything delivered from sidearm. I wish they gave some indication of whether your swing was early or late. You can pretty much tell anyway but some confirmation would be nice, even if it were just in the training mode.

I wish there was a better way to track sales on Iphone app games.
I haven't seen anyone mention the App shopper website- it will let you setup a wishlist and give you an RSS feed to track the list. It works so much better for me than Pandora box did.

And if RSS isn't your thing, there's an email option too. Registration was pretty easy.

Real Racing just got a purty big update.

http://toucharcade.com/2009/07/17/real-racing-updates-with-6-player-wi-fi-new-cars-and-more/

* 6-player multiplayer over local WiFi network (previously 2 player only).
* New vehicle class with a distinct roar of a V12 engine with "unsurpassed speed and control with 12 new exotic vehicles"
* New game soundtrack with 10 original music tracks
* Career Mode additions: exotic vehicle qualifier and two new championships
* OS 3.0 iTunes Music Library picker
* New Control Method: Touch-Wheel-to-Steer, Manual Accelerate and Manual Brake.

I still say it's worth the $10 I got it for..

I love Baseball Slugger, probably put more time into that than any other game. I'm still not that good, I think my high in one round is about 28 HR.
