Boo, no paths in the geodefense sequel. :(

yeah its different but I've been wanting to try Fieldrunners and an open TD game and geodefense will be a great way to cut my teeth.

Also he did say geoDefense 2 is being planned, which will be a proper sequel, fixed path etc.

Also as swarm and geoDefense are kind of different streams, expect more updates to geoDefense. I'm not sure if his level creator and 'expansion packs' idea will apply for the original as well, but from how similar the games code base is it kind of makes sense. but maybe he's saving that for geoDefense 2.

Ah, I suppose that 3.0.1 may not be a release for iPod Touch (which is what I have) if it's just fixing up an SMS vulnerability. Am I wrong? My system doesn't recognize a newer FW being released than 3.0.

Yeah, Apple is still working on 3.1, which should be more worthwhile for iPod Touch users.

Can anyone recommend some good sudoku or for that matter picross apps? For the latter I've been spoiled a bit by the GB/SNES/DS versions but I'd really like a good version that I can always have on me.
If you can wait a short while we're bringing out 365 Puzzle Pack which features tonnes of Sudoku, Picross and Kakuro puzzles. I'll see if I can post some pics early next week.

GeoDrfense 2! I still need to beat like, all of the first one still :lol

Still playing a fair bit of star defense, damn my ipod touch is so awesome.

I just bought the price is right for $1 and it is a lot of fun. It is actually pretty close the the show, more so than I expected. Fun for a buck.

I really like Minigore, but I feel like it really needs more weapons. I wouldn't even care about it being one stage if there was a little more shooting variety involved. Still very fun though.

I still haven't picked it up. The stuff they are planning on implementing in future updates sound quite cool... but I think I'll sit it out till then. From what I've seen, at this point in time, the experience doesn't seem that different from iDracula.

Those that have played both iDracula and Minigore, which do you prefer?

I've played both and I actually think I enjoy Minigore a little more. iDracula is a semi-complex game. There are a good amount of weapons, powerups, and upgrades. Minigore has simplicity on its side which makes it a little more fun to me. iDracula is still really good, but you're getting into a heavier experience.

Edit: Minigore is also much better looking, obviously.

I prefer Minigore. It needs an update with some more weapons and scenery. Scenery really doesn't play a part in the overall ganeplay but it'd be nice just to see some variety. A story mode would easily make it my most played app. Killing those little guys is extremely satisfying.

Also, why the hell did I buy Pocket God? A cute and decent time killer...if your 5 years old. Props to the devs for supporting it so long, though.

Should I wait on upgrading my Touch to 3.0 then? I really don't want to pay $10 and then have another new FW come out so soon after.

I don't think they'll charge for 3.1. I payed to upgrade to 2.0 then everything till 3.0 was free.

I prefer iDracula by a long shot because it's an actual fleshed out real game. Minigore is really at this stage very barebones. It's fun enough for what it is and it's 99 cents so it's not like you're getting screwed but there simply isn't enough variety or depth compared to iDracula although they say they will update minigore so maybe the question can be revisited at a later date. The art is charming and style is very good so if that is extremely important to somebody then I could see them prefering Minigore but as an actual full game concept it's a bit lacking right now imo. I will say that on the control front the dual stick controls are slighty better in Minigore. I think iDracula was one of the early games that really was sort of pioneering and figuring out dual stick control on the iphone but Minigore is an improvement in that regard as it feels better control wise although an option for adjusted dual sticks based on where ever you move your fingers like isotope would be nice.

Edit: On second thought when you remove the pads it feels like they have implemented something like that so that's pretty good.

MiniGore is a good time. I've spent a lot of time playing it and trying to get a decent score. Sure, all there is to it is shoot everything and sometimes get a shotgun/blow up a crate or transform into a monster but it's 99 cents. It has really nice graphics, controls and solid gameplay for 99 cents.

Been playing the Blimp demo today, im' really into it. Anyone have the full version? If so, how is the level variety, is it worth a purchase?

I think this will be my sentiment as well...

But you lot are all right... It's only 59p, and the weekly updates John on Listen Up was talking about sound cool.

Sigh... bought...

Honestly, I understand what Minigore is supposed to be and I realize it's only 99 cents but dear god does it bore the shit out of me.

iDracula has no fucking personality though. It looks good, but it's just so boring looking after a while. The general aesthetics matter a lot.

Isnt MiniGore just what Geometry Wars is but a different setting.

Yep, that's right, anything that uses that control scheme is just like Geometry Wars.

The personality of the game is quit a bit different, and the AI doesn't stray much from swarming directly towards you.

Minigore and iDracula are pretty much Geometry Wars in its simplest form.
They could have added more depth into it, like more kind of power-up. That would make the game much more interesting.

Spent $15 on the app store in the past 2 days after never spending a dime ever before. You guys weren't kidding about it being tough to resist the temptation. Oh well, I got 10 games to keep me busy for quite a while. I am done...for now. Took my credit card off file :D

Games I bought are: price is right, pocket god, fieldrunners, baseball slugger home run derby, let's golf, flick fishing, hero of sparta, word fu, flight control, and minigore.

Dude wait get Eliss. You can try the lite version before you buy. It's an awesome awesome game (yes I said awesome twice).

i second this. I can't stand the thought of an iphone/touch without Eliss.... it's sacrilege IMHO.

Eliss is an amazing experience that every iPhone gamer should go through but once I reached level 14 I really hit a roadblock. Maybe it's just me, but I would have liked if the game didn't take the "and now I will hold your attention by becoming really hard to play!" route.

I disagree that MiniGore is just another Geometry Wars in the app store. Yeah, they're both dual stick shooters but they play very differently.

Full-proof method to get me to buy an iPhone game? Have multiple posters in a row mention something about it.

I bought Minigore.
I think it's charming. It's not earth-shattering, but I'd argue that it has graphics the DS can't do (decent 3D) and controls the PSP can't do (dual sticks).

I still prefer Isotope, since it has TONS more depth (the RPG stuff and the fact it has stages). One thing I noticed is that I was completely okay with Mingore's fixed virtual sticks, but I HAVE to use centering dpads in Isotope. What's up with that?
Looking forward to the upcoming updates to Mingore and well-worth the buck.

It must have already been talked about but I just saw a video for Space Invaders Infinity Gene and thought it looked completely badass!

Just bought it without reading impressions or anything, good thing about app store games is that I never regret buying a bad one :P Since they're always so cheap. Hope it's good anyway! :lol

Well crap, I think I screwed up Zenonia. I was hit as I was using a teleport scroll, and ended up dying in town, and was revived in a corner where I can't move. And it autosaved

I love a few word games - WordFu, for one - but they all just got destroyed as soon as Bookworm dropped in price and I decided to buy it. I have played it for hours, and will play it for hours more. The fact that it automatically saves when you quick-quit means that my game hasn't ended yet, and it's become ideal for five minute bursts. Buy it whilst it's still cheap, people!

So I picked up my 3GS last week, and now that all the flashiness of the device has stopped wowing me, I've started exploring the games. I picked up:

Space Invaders Infinity Gene (just finished the main mode in it this morning. Amazing stuff, and cemented the iPhone as a viable gaming platform to me)
Drop 7 (crazy addictive puzzlers always appeal to me, and this one is no exception)
Zen Bound (Not sure I like this as much as I thought I would. It's probably too tame and inconsistent for me)
Zenonia (I'm not a fan of the controls. The d-pad emulation is an alien concept to my hands, and I find myself wrestling to control the character. I haven't played it for more than 5 minutes yet. Is it worth sticking with until the controls click?)
Scramble (Bitesize word-fuelled awesome. Always good for a quick go, without fail. Great Facebook integration, too. Hard to believe it's FREE)

So what are the games I should be ashamed of not owning, here? The 5 I've already gone for should give a pretty good idea of the type of game that appeals to me.

just picked it up, I've been waiting a while for it to drop in price, just didn't expect to drop to $.99. Too good of a deal to pass up.

I agree completely. This is the second time I've purchased Bookworm, I owned it years ago for Palm OS, and it's still the best word game out there. I hope it's been successful enough to get us iPhone ports of Bookworm Adventures 1 & 2.
