Speaking of Katamari, did that game ever improve? I know there was at least one patch, but never heard anything after.

Purchased Gomi and the NFL game.

I'll post some more detailed impressions tomorrow as I'm heading off to bed.

I didn't get a chance to play any Gomi but I was able to play a quarter of the NFL game. Surpisingly it wasn't as awful as I thought it was going to be. :lol

I mean I only bought it because I'm a big football fan so I can always get some enjoyment out of a football game but it actually reminds me of sort of that later era PS1 madden style football games which isn't bad. It has these slow mo moments where the game slows down which sort of helps with the control. It's only a quarter so those aren't real impressions but it was a bit better than I was expecting I'll admit although my expectations were really low.

It has a season mode but no franchise mode.

Thanks for the notes on iFist, Anachronus! Definitely very helpful!

Yeah we are psyched to be getting some feedback on our app, which can be tough these days when so may things release all at once. If anyone else wants to have a go at tearing it apart then please do so. I can drop another code if someone is particularly into it - in the meantime, HcG are busy working on our second game, which will be a good bit higher-profile now that our freshman effort is out the door..

Are there any good, jRPGs (or RPGs that are japanese in style) on the iPhone? I wish Square would bring over Song Summoner, but I don't think they will.

Hah, now that's damning with faint praise.

Depends if you meant the tilt control or the performance. I think the control was tweaked a bit but in general I think it's still something you get used to or not. As for performance it still blows afaik...unless you're on a 3GS! Don't have one myself but I've heard it runs around 30fps on it.

any great games out there for children? something along the lines for a 6 year old? something easy to learn and girly
I vaguely recall someone saying their kid liked the Disney Fairies game, lite version here.

Looks like Simon the Sorcerer is out for the iPhone. Any impressions on how it was ported?

Space Invaders Infinity Gene is fuckin' awesome. The music is so great.
You reminded me of something I keep forgetting to do - try it out with Space Invaders Extreme music.

No no no... What everyone should do is try it out with Adam Freeland's Fear, preferably the Rez version. It is all kinds of awesome, all over your face!!!:D

According to their Twitter, geoDefense Swarm has been submitted :D

I want to admit that I haven't bought Infinity Gene yet, but at this point I would fear for my safety making that kind of statement in here.

All you people who haven't bought SIIG are basically committing heresy against your oath of honor taken when you first discovered the App Store. The Church hereby excommunicates all whom have not yet bought Space Invaders Infinity Gene and will remain barred until further notice and proof of the said persons' engagement in the consumption of the megabytes owned by the mighty Taito Corp.

Figuring Apple will continue their annual trend and introduce new iPod models in September, it'll be shown and probably released right around then. September.

Conveniently 10 days before my birthday. :D

Ah thx both of you. Hope it does come with the 3gs cam and a mic. Will probably get one, if they price stays the same.

Any reccomendations in the action/shmup genre? Just got an iphone, about to check out Hero of Sparta but I'm also interested any 2d side scrolling shooters.

http://toucharcade.com/2009/08/06/highly-rated-rally-master-pro-coming-to-iphone/#comments
Fish Labs announced that they are working on porting the highly rated mobile game Rally Master Pro to the iPhone. Rally Master Pro was even named to be the Best Mobile Game of 2008 based on a aggregate of game review scores compiled by Pocket Gamer.

Fish Labs reports they are bringing the title to the iPhone and iPod Touch "in the autumn" with "revved up rally graphics". All the 3D models and textures have been enhanced with a 4x increase in polygons over the Java/mobile version.

The game comes with enhanced particle effects and dynamic lighting:
Depending on the track surface and weather, a variety of dust, spray, and even dirt particles will be generated for each individual tire. The various kinds of particles act quite differently. On dry, dusty tracks the car leaves a massive cloud of dust while racing through a forest on a rainy day you can literrally see the mud flying.
….
Thanks to the high-powered 3D chips (OpenGL graphics acceleration) in the iPhone, we can light the vehicle in a variety of ways, depending on the weather: with lots of light and shadows when it’s sunny, diffuse when the sky is overcast, and correspondingly dim in rain and storm.
The game will include 27 courses and weather effects for sun, rain, and snow.

This game looks visually appealing. Real Racing has spoilt me with cockpit view so I hope they add something like that.

Space Invaders Infinity Gene is the best Shmup on Iphone. I also strongly suggest Blue Defense as a fun, great looking and playing tilt based shooter.

Nice, and only $5! Will Buy.

Looks like its ported using the same engine that Flight of the Amazon Queen runs on, and by the same company - iPhsoft. It lets you control using direct touch method with floating rectangle above your finger, and also a 'classic' method that moves arrow like with touchpad, employed by Monkey Island SE.

My 3GS arrives tomorrow,What are some good point and click games I should grab and any other unmissable games I should need to acquire would be appreciated.

Also how versatile is the store when searching for games and can you narrow searches down by including variables?(price, rating, genre)

If you haven't played it so far then I would seriously recommend Monkey Island. It is excellent. Other noticeable point and click titles include Myst, Jules Verne's Return to Mysterious Island and Flight of the Amazon Queen. Although it's not out yet Beneath a Steel Sky: Remastered is coming to the IPhone soon.

P&C: Monkey Island: SE, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Simon the Sorcerer, Myst, Return to Mysterious Island.

Just completed Dungeon Scroll on normal difficulty. Currently #43 on the leaderboards. :D

What a pleasant game, very fun for $1. My favorite part was when it started raining rats. I wasn't sure what was happening, I tried touching some of them, but I don't think that did anything. :lol

Man... we're getting so close to releasing our first game, but there are so many hoops to jump through... Apple doesn't outline the whole process for you at all, so you don't know what they need from you until you get there. :(

Mine did that after using "rat" as a word; so I figured it was a special effect for naming the enemies - but I couldn't get the name for any others :(

This game is all out awesome. One of my favorites on the App Store by far. Of course it probably helps I am from the era of RPG's it's catering to and of Bookworm as well...But the subtle strategy that is required to beat some of these enemies is a lot deeper than you would think.

Best use of $.99 cents I've spent all month. :D

I've found myself deleting most games left and right but this one is a keeper...It has totally sucked me in.

I do have MI on steam but I would probably double dip if the Iphone version is a good enough port,As for the others I will definitely take some time to check them all out,Thank you.

Will do,I guess there's lots of P&C on Iphone then :lol I hope broken sword and discworld get ported,Iphone will end up my favourite portable at this rate.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I'm enjoying Dungeon Scroll as well. It's basically Text Twist with an old school RPG setting, but the extra strategy required is really fresh. I actually find myself holding off on words I know I can make until the right spot to maximize damage. Very cool little game.

radiantdreamer the iPhone dev process is not too bad. just hang out and follow tips from other guys (touchArcade dev area is pretty friendly) and people will generally give you a hand in getting on your way with that all-important 1st release (and then, once it's in submission, you just waiiit!)

interested to see what you are up to, do you guys have a WIP site or something?
