I have not brought any games lately due to 1) too many to play through, and 2) when I did a windows format I forgot to backup itunes so I need to set everything up again and right now not in the mood :P

So what are the best games still coming out this year?

So far on my radar:

- Geodefense Swarm
- Lumines
- GTA: Chinatown Wars
- Asphalt 5 (?)

But there's bound to be lots more...
 
Rock Band coming to "mobiles"

EAmobileRock Band is going mobile!! I'm posting screens, info and song list now - stay tuned...
 
I really want Unify and Plushed to come out. After finishing Spy Bot and Spider, I'm finally bored with what I've got.
Sketch Hop is like half as good as Mr Aaaah.

What a fucking week of announcements for new games!

I'm been a bit busy and haven't been posting in this thread as much the last week but I'm very happy to see two big time titles like Rock Band and GTA Chinatown Wars come to the idevices. Gives them a big boost in credibility and draws potentially other big name franchises.
 
re: Word Ace - we did get rejected once, but it looks like the game should be out soon. We're hoping today or tomorrow, but you never know. :(

Still, we've got our hopes up! The response so far on the Pre has been amazing, and I hope iPhone players will love it as well. And for people who have friends with Pres, frankly, this'll be the only game you'll be able to play with them. :D

yeah, for the consumer the free way is nicer. but if we’re looking at this from MTV’s perspective, the point for them to release this is to add another stream of continuous revenue.


personally, I’ll probability skip on buying the Rock Band iPhone game. I really only enjoy these games with the mimicry of playing instruments.

Word Ace still isn´t up for me, but I don´t think I´ll be buying it just yet. It seems like a great game that is certainly well made, but I´m kind of burnt out on that style, although the multiplayer looks fantastic.

Just got Castle of Magic for .99. I´ve been meaning to get it for a while, but waited for whatever reason and I´m kind of glad I did. I can´t help but feel guilty waiting for a game to drop down to minimum before buying it knowing full well the profit for the maker will be next to nothing.

Also got Alive 4-ever, a neat dual-stick zombie apocolypse shooter. Was only .99, haven´t played it yet, but I´ll report back.

Sorry for the weird apostrophies. Too lazy to change the keyboard language.

Ynth has been mentioned above, but hadn't seen Super Monkey Ball which is showing as $3.99 for me. Haven't checked the article or the other two app prices yet.

Yep, free. He's mentioned this more than once in this thread, I think. Seems I recall that there's an option to "buy in" and get more in game currency than what they will incrementally dole out to players, but paying for anything is purely optional.

Correct me with extreme prejudice if I misunderstood/misrepresented any of that info, seppo.

The game is free - but if you want to buy extra chips, or if you want to donate to just help support the continued development of the game, you'll be able to send a couple bucks our way. That's how we're making money on WA. If you like it, if you want to help us out, great. If you hate it, it costs you nothing.

We're hoping that people love the game enough that they choose to pay, even though we're giving away the whole thing for free.

Stupid? Maybe. We'll find out!

The only weird quirk is that Apple doesn't let free Apps do in-app purchases. :| So to fire up the in-App purchases, you have to buy Word Ace Pro (which hasn't been approved yet). That'll cost $1, and in exchange, we'll give you 12,000 extra chips, instead of the usual 10K/$1. After that, you can get chips in packages of up to 300K, or you can donate a couple bucks, and for 30 days, you get a star by your profile pic that shows that you're one of the awesome people helping us pay the bills. :)

It's a bit of a weird experiment, but the App Store pricing mess is such a disaster, we're hoping this is an alternative that people will be interested in. Play as much as you want, pay whatever you want.

We'll see how it goes!

Nope! That's about the size of it! I want to just emphasize that Word Ace is a full game. Aside from the in-app purchase stuff, which Apple *forbids* in free apps, Word Ace gives you EVERYTHING that Word Ace Pro does. So don't feel like you're getting a "lite" or "free" version of the game - you're getting the whole thing, and you can play as much as you want. We'll give you 1K chips/day, so if you don't mind playing the low-stakes tables, you can play forever for free, pretty much, even if you're terrible! :D

Also, please, please, please - if you like the game, please spread the word. Twitter, tell your friends, whatever - awareness is the most difficult thing, and though Word Ace has been received AMAZINGLY by the Pre community, getting any traction on the iPhone is gonna take 10x the noise.

So, if you like it, please leave a review, or tell a friend, or tell a million friends.
