OMG!! You just blew my mind! That worked! I never thought to do it that way at all! I assumed the laser had to be in the top right corner because it's the most direct way.

Wow... I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!

That's pretty ingenious!
No problem!:D like I said, logic and elimination.

I really liked this game and wish they'd update for more levels or at least include an editor or sand box mode.

No offence to devs who are just working hard making a living, but I hate these hardcore-lite games. I don't think hardcore is even the right word, using it in this context is an insult to both the casual/hardcore market.

people can take simple ideas and make them into utterly compelling games. katamari is a hardcore game in my eyes, its a super simple, quick playing game but only hardcore gamers will know what it is and buy it.

games like hero of sparta/modern warfare are the real games aimed at the casual gamers. they see the cool artwork which reminds them of a famous brand and think "hell yeah call of duty on iphone!" and zing they get bitten. originality? deep gameplay? extended experience? does anyone remember the meaning of satisfying the hardcore gamer again? apparently its aesthetics nowadays. if its bright and colorful its casual or kiddy. bloody and macho is hardcore.

as a casual I would enjoy these clones in that they're throwaway forgettable experiences which kill some time, as a hardcore gamer I can't stand them and feel ripped off at the higher prices which promise a superior iphone experience and then completely underwhelm.

it must be a decent business model though and clearly abunch of people are happy with what they do.

The problem is, if you want a full hardcore experience, you're going to have to pay like $20. And as even $10 games tend to sell horribly on iPhone, developers just can't afford to do it. As a developer, I'd *love* to make full-on hardcore games - specifically, I'd love to make a true, long, Japanese-style RPG. But the App Store's pricing level is just too darn low. What Apple needs to do is what was rumored a while back: make a "Premium Games" section for these full hardcore games, a section for games with at least $500,000 budgets, so that the buyer will know that the game is truly worth $20+. (and BTW, $500,000 is still a fairly low budget, though still not really feasable with iPhone prices).

Its underneath free apps with the heading "More Games".

Thank you, but I still can't find it.
Only have a top paid and top free apps list under the games section. Can't find more games even when going to the top free apps page. Maybe it's just a european/swedish store problem (or me being blind).

edit: I found a way! Scroll to the bottom, click Features --> Browse. Then select App Store --> Games --> Category.

edit 2: Lame, can't sort it on popularity this way.. just get a long list of the games in a playlist format with no icons.

Is it just me or is it impossible to sort games by category in the new iTunes 9?
its there as stoney mason sayss, but many developers have mentioned that their sales have decreased with the category s being hidden.

Me too, I'm a huge Dexter fan. Seeing it was released was a nice birthday present this morning! I expected it to be $9.99 also.

Guys I work for Gameloft and can't really comment on the specifics, but I just wanted to throw in a general comment. As long as the frugal gamer/wait for price drops mentality is dominant as it is now in the iPhone community, don't expect miracles, these games are freaking expensive to make and we're pushing it as far as it makes senses.
What about the "wait for a lite version" mentality? Speaking of which, when's a lite version of Modern Combat and Blades of Fury coming?

I'm really impressed with Dexter so far. The production values are outstanding. Fully voiced cut scenes. Good soundtrack composed of themes from the show. PSP-level graphics (at times). The controls are smooth and give you a lot of options, you can pinch to go into first-person view if you'd like. The game is set up as a series of minigames which flow really well in the course of the storyline. It's part adventure game, part stealth, part puzzle - all of which make full use of the touch interface. Lots of neat and familiar references if you're a fan.

Apparently there are going to be four "episodes." This one takes place during the first season of the show. I've played through the first "kill," which serves as the tutorial, and if the quality holds up I'll definitely be buying the rest of the series.

What's the difference between the lite version and the full version of Mr. Aaaah?
Lite version has an end, while the full keeps on going, infinitely afaik (if there is a stoppage I haven't gotten to it). It also has simple online leaderboards.

Damn. I can't even make it to the end of the demo. :lol

Aight, time for more free Critter Crunch...

the first 3 US RESIDENTS ONLY (yes, this sucks, esp. considering Capy is from Toronto) to post asking for a code will get themselves some free Critter Crunch iPhone.

All you have to do is remember that Critter Crunch hits PSN soon :)

Heck yeah I'd like a Critter Crunch code (and I have been waiting for the PS3 release, which will arguably play better for my clumsy fingered self -- but the lite version was fun enough). So, yes please?

One for me?

Just out of curiosity wouldn't this be better if done through PM rather then in the thread?

In the thread, people can see whose requested them, and shouldn't keep asking until told otherwise. I think it works fine that way.

BTW, thank you Cromulent_Word :)

I bought Critter Crunch way back before they switched publishers, so I can never redownload or update it again. Fun game though. You guys'll like it.

You get the last mr. jojo. And really this way is easier since its clear when the first 3 people have posted, rather than via PM's where you'd never really know and i would get 50+ PM's to respond to :D

Will try to do this again soon.

I think this is a much better way than posting promo codes too. That's always a mess.

Dexter is good. The intro level had me a bit worried but after the tutorial type thing it became really great.

I'm considering taking a look at this. I'm a big fan of adventure games and of Dexter. I still haven't cracked open my copy of Monkey Island yet though... and Scribblenauts arrives soon... I guess I can wait.

wait, what? Is that why I haven't got a Critter Crunch update in a year? I assumed they just stopped working on the iphone version.

So Fishlabs released another free car racer (basicly a playable advert) from VW, Scirocco R 24H Challenge 3D and I gave it a go, to put things simply from a toucharcade reply I made:

"Car can never lose grip when turning at fast speed so it feels like a go-kart
Camera following the car is off center to the left, very annoying
Engine noise seems to vary between sounding good and being broken

Looks real nice but plays like a very simple racing game engine, no fun."

Everyone else seems to praise it, so that just tells me the forum is full of freeloading 14 year olds :P

Lol, same. Although it isn't really my kind of game, I only bought it coz a GAFer worked on it.

To make a long story short (and legally safe), we had to change publishers and the App Store has no support for that... therefore no more updates w/o screwing everyone who bought it on the old publisher.

I wish there was something we could do to circumvent it (we suggested giving away the game for free for 3 days but that got kiboshed real fast) but such is life. All we can do is fiercely apologize to the people that got screwed, and work on the PSN version that WE ARE PUBLISHING OURSELVES (hallelujis) :D

Thanks for the support!

Durrr, geo swarm doesn't show up when searched on the french appstore, but the link works.

Anyway, instabought.

I can't say I'm completely clear on what the issue is.

But whatever it is, :(

The issue is that the App Store tracks apps by the "owner" of the app. There is no system for changing "owners", so you have to treat any change of "owner" like the addition of a new app.

We lost 400+ positive reviews and a 4.5 star rating... along with a ton of other crap because of this.

in short, poop happens so don't change publishers.

Ah, so basically the Critter Crunch currently in the appstore is a different soft than the one I have on my iPhone?

Wouldn't it be possible to publish a single update to the old one with a one-time CC code and a little explanation panel so the "old" buyers can get the "new" CC and you can go back to updating it?

edit: don't change publisher or use a different ownership no? If you'd been the one "owning" the app in the appstore the publisher switch wouldn't have had any influence would it?

I know it sounds lame, but we literally tried a slew of different ways to rectify this situation, and nothing had legs.

That being said, we are still trying (over a year later)...

Already in love with Swarm. :D

Loving trying to fill up the levels.

Nah. If you tried everything you could think of and apple just doesn't give you the tools…

I'm definitely a bigger fan of the "set path" TD style, but Swarm is so bought. Already played the first few baby stages. So good. "Meltdown imminent" back in my life.

getting in on the geodefense swarm love in, race to the finish line? :D if this is anywhere near as good and peerless as the first game this series is definitely the advance wars of the app store

disappointed to see geodefense 1 priced at £1.19 though after the dev said he see's no reason to go above 59p, maybe his plan for addons and downloadable content isnt panning out (that stuff was supposed to make up for lower cost of the game)

Played the first two levels of geoDefense Swarm. It is awesome, just like the first. I would pay $20 for this game. 99 cents is ridiculous if you have even the slightest interest in TD.

I want an advance wars game on ipod touch. Isn't there anything remotely similar??

Grabbed swarm, seems really good from the first 2 stages I played. Will play more on bus to best buy to go grab mario and luigi.
