anyone tried "implode!"? Looks kinda neat and it's on sale for $0.99 right now. I'm thinking about picking it up.

Easily worth the buck. Pick it up if you like Crush the Castle, Angry Birds, blowing shit up, etc.

Going by the game's info, they recommend 3GS with 3G optimization coming soon, lol.

Also the game has 2 tracks and 12 cars (mostly skins I think) with 1 car and 1 track as optioanl DLC extras.

"Stay tuned for 40+ courses and 60+ machines" makes me think this will turn into an Ace Combat DLC package in the future.

Just 2 tracks. Yikes.

Thanks for the Wifi Tips, my noobness continues as I did not realize it will automatically find them (I was configuring late last night in my basement and my SSID is hidden...)

My buddy that I commute on the train with to work just picked up a IPhone. Are there any MP games via bluetooth?

Nova looks good, but it rubs me the wrong way... the Halo way i guess you could say. other than that it looks great.

slightly off topic but anyone here can recomend apps for someone headed to New York City and just open to having a good random time (note: got no GPS on the iTouch)? I'm going to be there for 2 weeks, but with this weekend goin to the Blip Festival

Ok so here is my feedback after 1 hour of ridge racer accelerated.

It's good :O

for £1.79 you get two circuits and class 1 and 2 cars, each track has an unlockable reverse and each car class has 3 cars with different drift setting and more to unlock, there is quite a few. The menu is easy to use but silent with no music, there is arcade, duel and knockout race modes and some options plus an intake store to buy another set o tracks and car class 5. These are £1.19 and £1.79 with the track pack giving 3 more which I don't have right now.

Once the game starts the race you get your classic re intro camera sweep and rev, the cars look a little iffy but they do the job quite well with reflections. Now the racing itself for me is at about 15 fps because I am on a 2 nd gen touch ( typing this from my cozy bed ;p) and the game's info page did say to use a 3Gs with optimization coming later for older hand sets. The game is playable but in this game slowdown also slows the car and timer not just dropped frames. Car class 2 is fast enough ATM.

All the tracks so far come from other rr games, the first one is from r4 and the 2nd from rr2 I think. Most of the dlc tracks are r4 right now also.

The game also gives you a full replay with some good camera angles, I like them.

I had 2 crashes but that's due to running out of ram I think on this old touch, a reboot helped for about 3 races then it crashed again.

Ridge Racer of old was never known for it's huge track selection. It's a racing purist game. And I hope this one is like the original RR. Wouldn't mind if it had various circuits on the one track though. And please Angel Car.

Because I'm a RR freakazoid fan I'm on this.

I don’t know how you can excuse that framerate and recommend the game, to be honest.

Considering most people still have non 3GS hardware, that seems unplayable for a ridge racer game. :|

WOW at konami krazy kart racing...Just finished trying it. Gba nostalgia.
Game is awesome.

Sparkster and castlevania music? you know you need to buy it now!

Sure are. And if you can call him tonight, Soft Freak Fiesta just got released today and it's a pretty fun game. Just finished playing 8 rounds with a complete stranger online (online you can't choose who you play against -- or if you can I don't see it). It's a game where both people start with 3 Soft Freaks, and the objective is to knock them off of the play field (cliffs, mountain tops, islands). It uses a familiar game that I can't recall the name of as it's base. Where you try to knock people off of the table without falling off yourself.

Has local bluetooth play, and I'll be all over that tomorrow with my buddies from work during breaks.

Alive 4 Ever is another, it's a dual stick post-zombie-apocalypse shooter. Each level starts you guys on a map and there's varied objectives to complete other than just "kill X zombies", like find medicine or saving survivors. It's pretty fun to play with a friend. Reminds me of Left 4 Dead, and is obviously banking on that. It's got a leveling system, which lets you build your character up to be better with whatever weapons you want. As well as equipment slots for accessories like 10% more armor, or +crit chance etc...

The newly released Battleship (from EA -- there's some other games that take the more old school grid paper route) I imagine would be great fun with friends. It's old school battleship with some graphcis and animations of firing/hits explosions/sinking. Unfortunately the guys I could play with are cheap as hell and unless something is 99 cents they won't buy it...and even then they pass more often than not. So I won't find out if it is actually fun -- but it's battle ship....it's gotta be fun.

I think MiniSquadron offers local multiplayer too. And that's probably fantastic too.

I really need some people to play some of these games with locally.

You'd be surprised how few people care about framerates. So long as it appears smooth enough to play it's fine for most.

They do say it's being worked on so I have some hope it will hit 30 frames at some point, but I can bare it for now.

Had no clue this was coming out.

thanks for all the tips! Can't reach my buddy and soft freaks is only free for today, guess he'll have to pony up the $3

If RR runs at 15fps on a 2g touch, I can't imagine it on an iPhone 3g. It's pretty pathetic to release a game with a horrible framerate, so-so graphics and 2 tracks and then promise to optimize it and add tons of paid DLC later. I'm sure there will be no online support either, now or ever. And no menu music in a RR game?! The fuck? A lot of traditional console publishers just don't get the iPhone. What sucks is that it'll sell anyways on name alone.

There's menu music for me...

Same music that's in the PSP version. Menu looks the same too (or at least heavily inspired by).

However, the controls suck. I know accelerometer controls aren't that great but I just finished playing Krazy Kart Racer...it's a kart game but it controls great.

This game...maybe I shouldn't play my typical drift style cars? Because I was doin 360's on the track when I was trying trying to straighten out. Feel like I felt playing my first RR game on the PS back in 95.

It's also possible that I can grow used to it. But I'm not sure if I want to spend the time. I'll just keep my PSP around :p. Still, I don't regret the purchase, because I love the series and it is RR on the iPhone :). Also, I am on a 3GS and hte frame rate is...smooth...but the game "feels" slow.

EDIT: and now I tried the "middle" drifting car. I usually like the ones that are all over hte place if you don't have perfect control. The middle one works great :p. And the two tracks included are the most favorite tracks. I can dig this car. Doubt I'll buy anything extra. But in less than 5 mintues I went form thinking it was terrible rendition of controls to loving it :p. So we'll see how I feel tomorrow after more play time.

EDIT2: so long as I stay away from the crazy drifting car, it's great fun. I'm zooming around the tracks just like I would on the PSP. And I'm loving it. Have had a couple of touch screen folleys (didn't hit the break because I missed the "area" on the screen by a little bit) but that's to be expected with a device with no buttons. For 3 bucks...I think RR fans will be very happy...if they stay away from the DYN car. Or if they're really good with the accelero in other games...

i got a konami game for 99¢, it's called tomena sanner and it's really insane. you could almost call it a funny version of canabalt. you're a japanese businessman who's late i guess, and constantly running forward but streetpunks, giraffes, easter island heads, martians are always in your way. you tap in rhythm to dodge everything, and the animations that happen if you dodge perfectly are AWESOME! you do kung fu moves, breakdance, moonwalk, it's really well done. some of the obstacles actually get in a big line and it turns into a big dance set-piece. it gives me a lot of happiness for so cheap.

I have just finished Angry Birds, and need a similarly addictive, and super-simple, game to fill this gaping hole in my life.

Any suggestions?

Man such an awesome game, really. It was really well balanced. I finished it earlier today with 3-stars for every level (I stayed up until 5am playing mostly two levels until I got the hang of what I needed to do).

I haven't tried it my self, but Implode! is a physics based destruction game.

hey guys, have there been any good recent graphic novel adventure games (Like Jake Hunter, Phoenix Wright, etc) on iPhone lately? I'm not in the mood to play something that's more of a SCUMM style game.

(For instance, is Mystery any good?)

Is C&C Red Alert at $5 a new deal or has it always been this price? I thought it was more last I checked.

Pretty sure its on sale as part of EA's Xmas specials.

Ridge Racer: Accelerated. What an ironic title for that pos.

Dynamic drift cars are like butter wheels, but get it right and they are super fast :P

Maybe there is no menu music because I am not on a 3Gs, directory bug or something silly but I am glad that it's semi-playable right now for cheap, would not buy the base package for anything more then the current £1.79 that's for sure.

I been playing it more today while the internet was down and once you set the right sensitivity and use button layout 2 (works best for me) plus learn the cars, I myself can drive just like i'm using a pad playing my ps1 copy of R4 on my ps2 :D

Also one thing I like is that the cube mapping is real time, it will reflect the sign posts and bridges correctly.

*edit* wow watching it being played on a 3Gs, it's about 5fps better then my 2g touch :lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyEbfAuMIOc - I thought the 3Gs was running it at 30ish fps, not sub 20.

Newp, that's a "sale" price. $2 lower than I've ever seen it. Bought.

Also, has anyone seen any more news on that G1 Transformers game that looked like an Advance Wars clone? I WANT!

Yeah the videos I seen of this game are great, need to pick it up while it's on sale just for the animations.

Wow, Konami has everything for €0.79!
Is Silent Hill total shit? How is Silent Scope?
I just bought MGS Touch and I'm seriously tempted by some DDR (should I buy S or S+?).

Some screen grabs from RR, while the car's can look fugly in places they have a strange feeling to them, like they used a few too many polygons in areas where textures would work a lot better, the windows don't help either.

Today's Appvent Free game is Cheese Collect. I tried it out but it kept telling me I failed after 5 seconds, no matter what I did. Not sure if it is worth the download. However bitFlip that I mentioned yesterday is now free and it is a fun puzzle game.

EA has lots of deals today so I'm not adding links, but the games are Connect 4, Mystery Mania, Zombies & Me and Anytime Pool (all $0.99), and C&C Red Alert ($4.99). Also, all the Jewel Quest games are also $0.99.

I'm thinking of getting Mystery Mania this time. Has anyone else tried it?

hey guys and girls, my best friend got an i-pod touch for his birthday, and i want to give him a couple of the best games available.. but i don't know what's out there and what i should get him.. (don't have one myself unfortunately..)

I absolutely LOVE Rock Band. I wish it had more songs, but it's really fun anyway.
I'd like some suggestions too, btw.

Oh, and about DDR should I buy S or S+ if I only want to get one of them?

I know there's been some talk about RRA having a crappy frame rate, and I sort of agree. I see a few hiccups on my 3GS (installing it on my 2G iPhone just for kicks), but I don't think that's the problem. Seems to me that the game isn't running in real time. Comparing toucharcade's video, it takes about 14 seconds to produce 10 seconds of in-game time. It seems to get better the faster you go, but its annoying. I've already found my tilt sweet-spot and I turn on in car view and turn off all HUD (including rear view mirror) and when I'm zooming through the tracks its great. I'm holding off on the DLC until the game is fixed though. I'm a Ridge Racer nut and I've been wanting this for a while. Its promising, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone right now unless you love RR.
