Nice, update just went out for SMB2 and it fixed the crashing on jailbroken phones.

SEGA redeemed.
Had no crashing on mine. Also had no flickering that some people were talking about happening on JB phones. I'm convinced too many people try to do a bit too much with the JB as well as keep putting ICY on their iDevices, which is a sure fire way to be certain something will crash.

But anyway, still loving the game. Glad it went on sale and glad ofr your impression that you didn't want to throw the phone.

This is pretty nice, although I hope they add in a warning system, as I have seen a lot of people just drawing out penises :-/

Fixed. (with regards to my experience)

Edit: I guess that was really only just one guy over and over. Anyway, that game's mad fun. Anyone know how much it'll be when it's not free?

F1 game is up apparently. PR:

Friday 18th December/... FORMULA ONE™ fans around the world can now enjoy the world’s most thrilling motorsport on their iPhone and iPod Touch as F1 2009 is now available to download on the App Store. Costing just £3.99, F1 2009 for the iPhone and iPod gives you the most authentic recreation of the sport ever to come to the platform.

Mobile gamers will be able to take to the track as their favourite FORMULA ONE™ driver from the 2009 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP and compete against the clock in both Time Trials and Endurance challenges. Time Trials test a players ability to produce one stunning flying lap to achieve the best time possible while Endurance is a challenge of consistency, speed and skill as the average lap time over 6, 9 or 12 laps is what counts here. Players can then share their best times with the world to see how they compare to the top times globally, locally or just between their friends.

With stunning graphics - instant pick up and play gameplay that utilises iPhone and iPod tilt sensitivity - F1 2009 features all 10 teams from the 2009 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP and all 20 drivers. Players will be able to take on each of the 17 of the circuits that featured in the season including iconic classics such a Monaco, Spa Francorchamps, Silverstone and Monza as well as brand new tracks such as the Yas Marina and the dramatic Singapore night race.

F1 2009 for the iPhone and iPod Touch is available to download from the App Store now and is also available on the Nintendo Wii™ and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable).

Need for Speed Shift is out. $10.

Will wait for inevitible price drop, so hard to justify $10 when a ton of titles are launching or going on sale at $0.99.

Just picked up Defender Chronicles for $0.99, was $4.99.

Pacman CE now for 99Cent.

Damn i`ve been buying way to many games the last couple days :-/

AlphaBattle is the Appvent Free Game of the Day, plus 4 more featured free games that includes UniWar, Monster Ball, Army Wars, and Trigger Happy Christmas.

The Calendar page is more stable now so just check it out here.

Well I just picked up and am currently reviewing NOVA for my review site and for the life of me I can not tell you how "HALO" it is.. Honestly I mean its got almost everything a HALO franchise down to Cortana...

They should just call it HALO: NOVA and be done with it. However its an EXCELLENT game
the online is the best Iv'e played (though lacking right now more than deathmatch) but it's the best online and single player game I have.

How does Gameloft not get in any kind of legal trouble just copying game franchises and renaming them!?

MUST GET AAA so far..

Twin Blades is a cool but shallow time waster. I wouldn't want it on a console, but it's good for on the go play.
I agree: as it is now it's awesome for iPhone but not so much for 360 standards.
If they upgrade it massively then they could have a point.

The appvent guys are being so cool to us...I got 2 free games from them yesterday and another 5 today. Cabbie is pretty nice.

Even as an iPhone game I'd say it's pretty dull. You just walk through the same areas, hitting the same two attack buttons over and over. Sure, the graphics are impressive, but it plays like a turd in my opinion. Also, it's way too easy to jump on accident, which only gets you hurt.

That's what I want to know. This is like, what, the 10th game they've almost directly copied? =P

I really want to buy that Twin Blade game, but after getting OMG Pirates, I feel like it'll be a little more shallow... But I do REALLY like the artwork...

Might end up getting Pacman, too. This will be around the 15th game I've purchased this week. Hmph.

It's kinda like Zombieville, just a lot better (cause it's more dynamic).
And i never ever jumped by accident once, just press down-forward to move forward and it will work perfectly.

To be fair to Gameloft, their games are probably amongst the most polished and playable on the App Store.

I don't mind them stealing ideas, so long as there is a decent enough experience underneath. That is what Gameloft always seem to be able to provide.

They strive for a console-like experience on mobile platforms and more often than not they get pretty damn close.

I bought both of these last week...

I need to stop buying anything on the AppStore...this is becoming a weekly thing for me. Could have saved myself (or bought 4 other apps). The only things I buy that don't go down in 1-3 weeks tend to be actual apps (not games).

You can say they're stealing ideas, or that they're providing a service because those games they're emulating may never make it to the appstore. They're just filling a demand.

I doubt they're so exact down to level design and game balance. Most likely just a superficial /graphical similarity.

I feel like I completely missed out on Shift. I played the demo last night and I really dug it.
Should I get it or Flipt?

Ugh, I hope this isn't too off-topic, but I'd appreciate if someone can help me:

Today I'm getting a nasty "5002" error on iTunes, which means I can do jack shit in the store. Also, when I try to access the store through my iPod itself, let's say, updating the couple of games/apps that are installed, I simply get an "an error occured" message. Anyone know anything about this, and how to fix it?

Im getting the same error, hopefully apple fixes the problem soon.

Sometimes I wonder to myself if the gameloft staff has a lot a little injokes around the office.....like 'well, tine to get back to work on halo--I mean nova!' or lots of 'we're gonna get sued' quips.

iirc alot of their games are developed cheaply in Korea or something

My ipod touch G1's battery is completely toast. It holds a charge for about an hour if it doesn't randomly shut off. I bought a third generation earlier today (same size) but haven't opened it. Is the performance between G1 and G3 worth the extra $200 (battery replace is $100, G3 cost me $300)?

Yeah, the first gen touch is the slowest out of all the devices, even slower than the first gen iPhone (...which is slightly behind the 3G, which is a good ways back from the 2nd touch, which itself is a good ways back from the 3GS and 3rd touch).

I'm enjoying Pac-Man CE for 99c, but then I learned that over half the game is still locked until you pay another $3.99. Meh, bought the expansion anyways. $5 ain't bad for this game, better than $7 that it was a couple days ago I suppose.

If you're someone that plays for score (obsessively on a single level for example) the expansion isn't that big of a deal unless you need the 360 championship level (course #15). If you don't care about that one then the 1st one is pretty good, although heavily tweaked to be easier (more power pellets, paths are pretty clearly laid out).

The mission and challenge levels (and the 10 extra championship ones) are good if you're a completion whore and can be only satisfied by knowing what percentage of stuff you've finished.

5002 errors here as well, tried a few things but nothing has fixed it.
Wasn't getting this at the time you mentioned it, but now I am :(. Was going to check out Minim (should have downloaded it earlier but I didn't want to try it at the time). Oh well. Did it clear up for you though?

Ingenious is out :D

Very simple and strategic board game, with multiple modes including hot seat and solitaire play, as well as multiple AI difficulty levels.

Gameplay revolves around playing colored hexes on a board, getting points from ones that touch. The rules are explained in a bit more detail here, but the in game tutorial does an excellent job of getting you going in a couple minutes.

Picture is of the PC version, but the iPhone version is pretty similar.

This. As a game it is absolutely useless. There is next-to no actual gameplay involved (I played for fifteen minutes by moving constantly right and pretty slash or shoot sporadically), but it looks pretty. So, you know.
