Reminds me a lot of Midi Fighter. Not a new idea, but definitely a good one.

I've been tempted for AGES to replace the play/cue buttons on my CDJs with Happ or Sanwa (preferring the former) buttons, but it's not an easy thing to consider for $1500 hardware :/

Edit: Actually, fuck it. I want this. Like the vanilla MF but with RGB-lit buttons and motion sensors along three axises (axii?) that translate to MIDI commands. Looks boss.

How come no one told me how awesome Vitalic's Stamina is? Awesome fun song. Sure sounds a little retro, but thats cool. Hopefully the rest of the album is as cool.

That song has the weirdest video ever. Not a bad track though! But definitely need to listen to it without the video... yeah.
I don't mind Vitalic in general, but the only song that really grabbed me (admittedly, the only song I'd ever heard in an environment that wasn't my bedroom) was Poison Lips, which is such a fucking ridiculously killer track it's not funny.

Do any of you guys know about portable audio recorders? I wanna buy something to use with my mixer, but have no idea on the dBv/dBu readouts and how they work. If I could get something portable going, it'd be far easier to record off-the-cuff than needing to have my PC up and running and all that crap.

Also still don't know if we got an update on this,

will Scuba's new single, Talk Torque, be backed with his other new song, Hardbody when it drops in about a week?

Edit:

Having released his critically acclaimed third album ‘Personality’ earlier this year, Scuba has announced news of a brand new single ‘Talk Torque’.

The one-sider ‘Talk Torque’ will be released through Hotflush digitally on October 29th, with a limited edition marbled vinyl to follow on November 12th, and will coincide with the world premiere of Scuba’s live show on November 3rd in London.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Scuba has been busy this summer DJing at countless European festivals including Off-Sonar, SW4, Hideout, Primavera, closing Bestival on the Saturday and making his debut at Ibiza.

Hotflush Recordings has blossomed into a veritable juggernaut in underground electronic music, releasing everything from techno (Sigha, George FitzGerald) to some of the most experimental and important music of the past few years by artists like Joy Orbison, Untold, Mount Kimbie and Sepalcure.

Having cemented his place at the cutting edge of electronic music with ‘Personality’, Scuba now turns his attention to the live scene. Scuba’s debut live show promises to be nothing short of spectacular and is not to be missed.

Does the bolded mean only one song?

What are everybody's top five favorite mixes?

You know, I don't really get mixes. I have a bunch, but I haven't set aside time to listen to any of them. Why would I want to hear Scuba play other peoples songs for me? Plus I never know which song is which because its one long track.

I'd rather go through the singles and such. Plus the way I listen to music doesn't jive with mixes, where I listen to new music in a specific order and amount of times.

BUT, its nice to see that Scuba is a big fan of Sigha, I'll check him out.

That's a toughie, would probably have to look over stuff a bit.

Off the top of my head:

Rustie Essential Mix
Ryan Hemsworth LFTF and Truancy mixes
LOL Boys Fader Mix
Shlohmo Resident Advisor
TNGHT/Four Tet BBC Radio 1/2? Mixes

Recent ones, ID Perseus mix, Dusky essential, and Joy Orbison Resident Advisor mixes have been good too. Know I'm probably leaving out some good stuff from earlier this year.

It's a great way to hear new tracks. Hear great remixes of old tracks. Hear how one person blends, uses, mixes, chops ups, etc a track compared to another. Yadda Yadda Yadda. Plus putting on a 2 hr mix at work is godly.

Des, can't do five but I always like mixes by Ryan hemsworth, jacques greene, cfcf, jamiexx,

Thanks for cutting this out. Another banger by Scuba. All these new tracks have to lead to an EP in early 2013 dammit.

Sounds about right. At least we're getting "Talk Torque". By the way, the untitled track was the same one he played b2b with Jimmy Edgar at Boiler Room. Wasn't really feeling the SCB or I'd have upped that too.

This Breach & Midland release is killing me. "Somewhere" is big.

awwww put it up pretty please :D

Side note: His SCB stuff can be a little samey sometimes. Some of it just runs together in my head. Some of his best songs are under that moniker though. Dat Loss or Hard Boiled.

I completely agree. Personally, I think it's really disappointing when the thread gets bogged down with mixes over new tracks. It's a combination of the things you mentioned and a lot more. For example, I think a big part of it is also the fact that I might just not like particular tracks in a set, and end up being "forced" to listening to them.

Although I do love when people post tracks that they like/new tracks that come from a set. There needs to be much more of that.

Also, not sure if posted, but Cashmere Cat's Mirror Maru EP came out today.

I very rarely dislike songs in mixes. If whoever made the mix likes it and I like who made the mix chances are good it'll be something I'm down with.

Our mix difference aside I could kiss you on the cheeks for the mirror maru release. Listening to the set rip was getting old.

I find that a really bizarre point of view to have when it comes to music like this, 95% of it is made to be played out and mixed. Also its the best way to find new producers.

Yeah, im going to have to chime in here.

A track can take on a completely different funk, pitched down or up. This music is meant to be layered and tweaked. You would be surprised what a true artist can do behind the decks, to your perception of a previously heard track.

I can almost guarantee you, that the vast majority of electronic artists that produce this stuff, that you listen to, have the compete opposite feeling of what you say.

On that note.

I go through phases where I listen to more mixes than albums and vice-a-verse. Mixes are good for introducing you to new music. But with the advent of soundcloud and bandcamp etc that is not as important. I used to listen to way more mixes than I do now.
