The Official NeoGAF "Introduce Yourself" Thread

Hi folks, after a long wait I received a membership! In the wait I have managed to fry my gpu on my laptop while making concept art, with stable diffusion, for a game I'm designing.

Otherwise I'm saving up for a new device, and at the moment in the little spare time I have I can play games on an integrated chip with 2gb memory. So I am chilling with baldurs gate games. I'll be on the hunt for games that run on low end systems.

Hey everyone, quite surprised to see my account get activated this morning. Glad to finally be part of the community I've been visiting on and off for a very long time.

I'm 38 and from Canada.

Never been big on actually joining in on online discussions, always been a lurker on forums but I was diagnosed with Epilepsy over the summer so I'm trying to change some things about myself.

Only own a ps5 so that's how I try to enjoy my hobby. Recently started Kingdom Come Deliverance. Don't get a lot of time to game these days. Have 2 young kids so that's my main focus in life right now.

Wild and wacky. I don't even remember when I signed up- but here I am.

Close to 60, been gaming since I was a young'un. Started on an Apple ][+ with cassette and everything in-between since then.

Right now I have a 7900x/5090 setup. Currently playing Cyberpunk (which I decided to wait on until I got a 5090) and having fun with it.
 
Pleasantly surprised to see my account activated today! I've heard about NeoGAF for well over 20 years, back when you had to have an email address that wasn't Gmail, Yahoo, etc. With discussions and forums moving to the big, well known websites, I decided to go back to the roots of the Internet: forums dedicated to specific topics. I've really enjoyed reading the archived threads of people's excitement for game releases that we now view as some of the best, most popular games.

I'm a 38 year old straight guy from Germany and play almost exclusively on consoles. Own a PS2, 3, 4 Pro and 5 Pro, so pretty much a Sony pony (do the young kids still say that today? Lmao). Own an Xbox OG, 360, Series X, Wii, PSP, Vita and Switch 2 as well!
I love racing games and Gran Turismo is my passion. Other series I like the most and mostly follow: MGS, GOW (Gears and God), Zone of the Enders, Silent Hill, Ace Combat, Forza (Motorsport and Horizon), Burnout and Project Gotham Racing.

Honestly looking so much to engage in discussing beloved games and in sales threads with all of you!

A bit about myself: I'm 35, from Ukraine/Russia (an annexed former Ukrainian territory, lets put it like that), fell in love with gaming after playing Soul Reaver in like 2001 or something.
Owned every PS console except Vita and base PS4, a few gaming PCs, also spent a few years on X360.

Nowadays I play mostly on ps5, sometimes on a laptop (can't be bothered to build a new dedicated gaming PC these days and my laptop runs Total War Warhammer 3 well enough, so i'm satisfied as is).

Anyway, happy New Year people, may 2026 will be less shitty than 2025!

Hello, everyone. I've been following Neogaf as a reader for a while now, but I'm happy to join this community.
For this generation, I'm currently playing on PC, but in the past I've had the Atari 2600, SNES, N64, GBA, GCN, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP, and 360.
I haven't taken the plunge for the PS5 yet because I'm waiting for GTA6 to come out. I'm a big fan of Rockstar Games, especially the GTA games.

I'm 37 and from Germany. I've been reading Gaf for a bit over 10 years and finally wanted to contribute a bit of commentary myself. I play on everything, from retro consoles to retro handhelds and own all the modern platforms. Beginning of 2025 I also build my first gaming PC and I've been enjoying it far more than I thought. I'm mostly disappointed by the industry, but working on my backlog has pushed me through the last couple of years.

I have been pretty steadily gaming since Christmas of 1989 when Santa brought my younger brother and me an NES. My favorite genres include RPGs, Factory Sims/Automation games, and some colony builders (namely Rimworld)

I'm currently replaying Dragon Age: Inquisition, because I never got around to playing the Trespasser DLC
 
Hello, I'm a 40 year old from Cuba. I have been lurking this forum for years and finally decided to join. I'm also a member of GameFAQs since probably around 2005 but visited that forum for guides during the ps1 era. My favorite game of all time is Shenmue and my favorite system is the Dreamcast. I was a big fan of Sega over Nintendo since the early 90s. Currently I barely get enough time to game because of my job and sleep schedule. I love the old Bioware (MassEffect1 and Dragon Age Origins); now they suck. The same can be said for other companies that used to be great and now have gone downhill. Anyways enough of my ranting. SEGA!!!

Hi all, joining from Australia. Dad of 3, finally getting back into gaming and tech.

Primarily enjoy Soulslikes and deck builders, but happily play anything quality. Used to play and be immersed in the gaming space until having my first kid, and now getting more spare time and headspace to get back into it.

Been lurking here for a while and really enjoy the content of the platform and moderation style. Looking forward to being a part and being able to contribute.
 
Howdy, I am an older gamer 55. I can remember playing pong, then had a Atari. As I have gotten older I have stopped paying twitch games, although I still watch my son and give him "pointers" lol. I have been enjoying Taletell games like A wolf among us, Walking Dead and am currently playing Star Treck on the Steam Deck. I have always had all three consoles, but see myself just going with the steam deck and maybe what Xbox has coming up next. I will always have a soft spot for Xbox as the original got me back into gaming, fond memories of Halo Lan parties. I am disappointed with Xbox the last few years. Hoping for the best. I dont post a lot but I am on every day.
A little about myself: I have been married 32 years to the love of my life, 3 kids and two grandchildren. When I am not playing, I am either reading or going to the shooting range. Anyway this is the most I have written in years lol, thanks for the invite.

Wow I am in! Awesome.

Now I am here I would rather be here in an honest way, so.. I was a member here for many years though not as prolific of a poster as others, but I left to "somewhere else". I was staunchly on the Left for a long time. I feel like this forums knows what "Woke" can do to people, yeah? Yep, I was knee deep into that.

Either way my politics slowly started to change about 2 years back, but "somewhere else" I remained. I guess it don't happen all at once for everyone. However, the event that took place on Sep 10 and "their" reaction to it sickened me to such a point I could no longer stay there. I left and never returned. How these people have the brass neck to think themselves "moral" is beyond a joke.

It was at that point I decided to come back to the place I should have never left. I was a fool and I am sorry. I hope you will have me back, but if the mods and admins here read this and trash me, it would be no hard feelings on my part. I still would not go back to that other place.

But ho hum, happy new years everyone!

44 years of age here. Started my gaming journey with a Atari -Unable to remember the model-, before moving to the NES, Master System, Mega-Drive (Genesis in North America, I believe), Gameboy, Super Nintendo, PS, N64...I skipped the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation completely). After many years of hiatus -While still being on top of the news-, I got myself a PS4, and am in the process of building a good selection of classics (Uncharted 4 & Lost Legacy, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes, The Last of Us...).
What else is there to convey? Well, I am cinephile -Horror movies, Sci-Fi flicks and quircky films-; I like classical music, jazz, romantic ballads of the 80s...; I love litterature, though I am guilty of having abondoned reading for quite some time; And I enjoy watching football games ( What many of you would criminally call soccer!).

How do you do?

Have lurked Neogaf randomly for decades on and off.

Did not have a console as a kid, but a little later in life FFVII, Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid became my gateway drug into gaming proper.

I now labour under an insurmountable backlog of games and SF novels. Recently picked up the Gunpla habit. What do you know? Backlog of that now too.

I've been working in gamedev for over 8 years, had to change a couple of countries in the process. I still like playing games even though I am nearing 40s. This year I played so many great games: POE2, Arc Raiders, Routine, Stellaris (not exactly a new game, but new to me), Duckov, etc.
Hope this year treats you better than the last one.

I've been passionately playing video games for over 30 years. Currently, my only gaming device is a Steam Deck, so I primarily play older games from my backlog or some less resource-demanding games.

Looking forward to a great gaming year and some interesting discussions on the forums.
 
NIce Happy New year !! only recently started to check this place out after getting banned for some reason on another site I was on since 2008 . I'm 43 and have been gaming since the Atari , rpgs are my jams since I first played Super Mario RPG, Phantasy Star 4 and FF7 ( yes I had all the systems lol ) ... Xenogears is my GOAT game and I'm currently playing Divinity: OS2 . Been a console gamer for most of my life but about to drop some cash on a new PC soon

My name is "turbo_blade". I picked this because of the movie turbo kid and the game I was playing when I signed up was stellar blade. I like the name but want to change to something related to death stranding 2 and expedition 33 as they are my favourite games of 2025. Maybe in the future but I will turbo blade for now.

I have a PS5, Switch 2, and gaming PC.

I'm a game dev of over 25 years XP who suffered the wrath of the gaming gods late last year.
I figured competing with tens of thousands of other out of work game devs didn't seem like fun, so I've taken a bit of time to go indie - making a platform puzzler collectathon adventure - let's call it a passion project to compensate for being forced to work on failed* F2P games for the past fifteen odd years.

We'll see how far I get! :messenger_beaming:

Hello all, been reading GAF for a while now and am glad to be in. At this point I enjoy thinking/talking about modern AAA games more than actually playing them, but I'm always down for some retro or indie or Fromsoft games tho.

My name is Andrea, i'm a 32 years old architect and urban planner from Italy and longtime gamer.

I've been waiting for months for my profile to be approved, and i am so happy to finally be part of this awesome community.

My gaming "career" has been "uneven" tho. I will try to summarise it quickly going through the 3 last decades.

1990's: It must have been Christmas 1997 (i was 4) when my parents got me a Nintendo 64, where i played classics such as Super Mario 64, Wave Race, Extreme G...

2000's: in 2002, i got a Gamecube, where i played Metroid Prime, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart Double Dash and other titles. My friend had an Xbox and i discovered Halo, i fell in love with that game. Then, i got a Wii in 2008 if i remember correctly, but at that time i had already started playing Halo 1 kind of "competitively" on pc, in the European scene.

2010's : this was the decade throughout which my gaming interest switched on and off. My Wii picked up dust and i never upgraded to a newer generation. Yes, i was still playing Halo 1 online on pc but the interest slowly faded... I probably didn't game from 2014 to 2018. Until i started working and owning a salary, and realised i had freedom in spending my own money. I restarted from Halo in 2019, downloading the MCC on my laptop and mostly playing online.

2020's: In 2021, i bought an Xbox Series S and brought over there my MCC "career", then i started playing Warzone with some friends. So, the first half of this decade has mostly been competitive shooters online. Slowly, i realised i needed to balance that "stressful" competitive gaming experience with more calm, single player experiences. I was always keeping an eye on Nintendo, and i knew the Switch 2 was launching. After long and careful reflection, i decided to buy one just a couple months ago.

I am really enjoying my new Switch 2 so far. It does have some shortcomings, but it grants me the opportunity to play games that i skipped in the last 15 years lol. (currently playing RDR)

I hope i can bring insightful contributions to this community and just have a blast: i love the sense of humour and always have a good laugh when i visit the forum. I am very aware of the state of the gaming industry right now, which is obviously tied to the larger dire situation of our planet. This space of discussion is vital !

I still haven't decided on a profile picture yet. I need some more time to really think about what image could display what i've just written.
