The Omega Pirate is the cheapest MF I've ever ran into.

I'm on my 2nd run of Prime and this is insane. I remember the last 3 bosses being difficult, but this guys is raping me. I don't even know how I got through the first time. It's completely disproportional to the rest of the game (even though the last 3 took me an hour and half each). I'm gonna hate seeing this punk on hard.

As a side note. When you first start reading logs alluding to the Elites project, to the end of the game had some of the coolest, most memorable moments I've ever seen in a game.

The last three bosses of Prime just about made the whole game worthwhile. The Mines were a pain in the ass, but the game's last act was classic. The final boss battle was the icing on the cake; its lair was appropriately menacing and drenched in Metroid atmosphere.

The Omega Pirate is hard. On hard he's just as hard but now with twice as much energy. But if you learn how to take care of his minions then you'll be fine.

Omega Pirate was really cool but he's also a bitch! But that moment when I finally blew him away, after 20 or so tries,...it felt pretty good. One of my favorite bosses.

Shit I just beat the game and don't remember exactly which one this is. The guy that would go invisible to your visors and you'd have to super missle off his body parts until he was completely unprotected, then you shot him when he had to coat himself with phazon again?

Beat him on the second try. First was just a test run, ended up dying when I had like 1 hit on him left.

Second try... killed him in maybe 2... 3 minutes? Shot off all his armor, he went invisible, found him by a pool, got a shot off. Kept watch for him, shot him again. again. again. No matter what he HAS to go back to the pools to fix himself COMPETELY, so if you just keep spotting and shooting him FAST, he can never go visible again because he will never entirely fix all his different parts.

Cake.

Ridley was a complete bitch. I could get him grounded without suffering a single scratch, but he charged so fast I would lose so much health sometimes because I would get hit like 5 times in a row with even being able to move once. I still don't get the timing on him. I would fire when his mouth went on fire, but he was only vulnerable like a split second when his mouth is on fire, like halfway between that and when he charges. Took maybe 6-7 tries.

I agree with Skluck.

Omega pirate was pretty easy... as long as you ignore the pirates and just confuse them with your double jumping/strafing and super-missile the bastard while he's hiding in the phazon pools.

Now Ridley.. oh man. I think it took me one tank on his flight form and barely made it on the FIFTH try with 04 energy left on my last tank after facing him in grounded form... By far the hardest boss in MP.

The big metroid at the end was not as hard though. You can get by the fission metroids easily if you ignore them for a while then power-bomb them until you get to the boss. After that just antipate his moves and shoot the orbs for ultra energy and more missiles. The key is to get CLOSE to him and shoot him. It makes it easier to avoid his lasers and you have about a 200% chance increase of hitting his eyes and doing some serious damage. I think I finished the first form with about 3-4 tanks left out of 11.

the second form was even easier; the fission metroid he threw at you would go out in ONE shot when you're in hyper mode and if you memorize his animations it's pretty easy to predict whether he's going to drip some phazon and disappear or send a shock. In the first case I went into morph-ball mode and got in the pool and in the second case I just kept my lock on him and double jumped.

I beat the the big metroid on my 3rd try with two tanks left in energy.

I never did actually beat
Metroid Prime

You stopped at the last boss? If you beat Ridley I guarantee you can beat MP. It really is a great fight.

Go play the Pal version and then come to talk to me......oh and i killed all the bosses at the first try except the last two riddley and prime.

I beat him on my first try through normal. But when I went through hard it took me three tries. Also, I never had a problem with Metroid Prime, but when I watched my friend battle it he seriously took the better half of an hour trying over and over.

I remember when this game came out people were bitching about it being too easy.
Sure, its no Ikaruga (can't think of any really hard games at the moment) but its certainly not easy, especially the Ridley fight.

The Omega Pirate is a cheap MF. I know of no quick way of finishing him that hasn't already been mentioned.

But Ridley, when on the ground, is easy if...
you attack him with the Wavebuster and have enough missles. It'll lock onto where you need to hit him and catch him in the breif instance he's vulnerable. If you have enough missle (200+), you can keep the Wavebuster going until he's dead.

If you don't have enough missles, start with the Wavebuster get him reeling, and then switch to the using a charged plasma beam to finish him off. Ridley will squawk at you after he recovers, leaving him wide open for another hit. Another charged plasma beam to the mouth will send back in pain. It's possible to repeat this pattern until he's dead and if it is broken, just start it agian with a wavebuster attack.

No, the problem with Ridley is that the game's AI starts getting all wonky and sadistic at the same time.

When his energy starts getting too low, he starts going a little nuts, whipping his tail around like nobody's business. Couple that with the game simply not registering some direct hits that should've gone through properly, and all of a sudden Omega Pirate's a fucking puppy dog.

wait wait...

when you hit ridley in the mouth he bounces back and exposes his chest.. that's where the charged plasma beams and super missles go. After a while he returns to his normal position and starts charging you or firing another laser from his mouth. What you're saying is that you can hit him in the mouth AGAIN after you super-missiled his chest and send him back to his exposed position? how many times could you do this? I only got about 2 good shots at his chest before sobbing like b!tch while he's trying to ram into me...

edit: after seeing xsarien's post I must point out that the sobbing only happend when ridley went berserk. :(

I think Omega Pirate took me 3 tries, Ridley about 6 and Metroid Prime about 5, but with an interval of a few months.

All are pretty easy once you get the hang of it though. Beat the PAL version with 70% or something.

Damn my crashing computer!!! I had a longer responce before, but now you'll have to settle for this. Though it did give me a chance to start up Prime and beat Ridley again, just to double check what I'm telling you.

I'd actually recommend not using a charged weapon when Ridley is in the exposed position. The standard plasma beam is quicker. I'd also recommend not using a super-missle and save that ammo for the Wavebuster.

After he returns from the exposed position, he will most likely lead off with his lazer-breathe or a squawk. A single charged plasma beam to his open mouth will send him back into the exposed position. He can repeat this pattern several times until he dies.

Sometimes he'll just sit there, or leads off by ramming you. When this happens, switch to the wave beam, charged it up, and use its super-missle form (the Wavebuster). It'll lock onto him, and just go, appearing like its not doing anything. However, the moment he opens his mouth for anything (to fire his laser, to wind up his ram attack, or to yell at you) he'll get knocked back into the exposed position.

Xsarien mentioned a that once his power gets low he will go nuts. I believe he's refferring to when you knock the plating off of his chest; he'll do a little jig and then just pissed and do everything faster. Just fire up the Wavebuster and he'll be dead in seconds.

I just now faught Ridley again and beat him, only losing 51 energy points. (I got cocky during his flying section).

Is the PAL version harder, then? I had trouble only with the last bosses... Ridley and MFing Omega Thingie took me about 4 or 5 tries each. One retry for Metroid Prime.

JJConrad:

The problem is that I only have 120 missiles... though If I don't use super-missiles I guess the wavebuster could work. I'm definitley fighting the bosses again in MP but after just finishing the game while beating Ridley with only 04 energy left, i'm gonna play some other games and come back to it later.

you know I always get very frustrated when I have to fight a boss more then one time, but usually after trying 3-5 times and devising a good strategy it feels much more rewarding when I beat the bastard. If only Zelda has fights like these...

i will probly be hated by most of you for this but i got him first try...technically second cus my friend was playing his way back when and fought like half that battle then let me take over when samus was almost completely dead but when i tryed i got it first time....dont ask how i just kinda did...

I just beat him in my first try. Didn't find him that hard to be honest. :P The trick is to always have the beam charged for a super missile. Jump over the wave, shoot, rince and repeat.
