Finished it yesterday and got the platinum trophy as well. I think I clocked in at around 8 hours (collectible cleanup included).
I'm conflicted. Game was obviously a labor of love. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Props to them for crafting what is easily the best looking game I've played.
So...the 5 and below reviews seem harsh in retrospect, but I don't think I'd give it anything above a 7 either. And that sucks because I wanted to like it more.
My beef isn't with its short length or derivative gun fights or even the incessant QTE. All they needed to do (for me, at least) was nail the story. That's it. Mediocre gameplay be damned. I was willing to show some leniency. But if RaD wanted to play in this lane, they should have completely owned it. Chapter 9 and beyond just seem cobbled together, as if they ran out of time or money. The ending was a punch to the gut. I don't know how people can overlook such a shitty conclusion.
I hope they get another chance. I was part of the crowd mocking this before I played it and I've sort of changed my tune. There's space for experiences like this. I was genuinely enjoying myself early on.
Good:
+I forget what chapter it is, but the one with airship was freaking awesome. Bravo.
+The gunplay is actually pretty good! And I love the weapon that incinerates the baddies.
+Chapters 1-8
+The three imaginative guns
+Voice Acting
+Graphics/Presentation/Sound/Design
Bad:
-The enemy encounters (despite the competent gunplay) are pretty meh.
-Too few imaginative guns...and I wanted to use them more.
-Lycan fights are awful
-Let me run lol
-Let me pull out my weapon when I want.
-Chapters 9 - ending, which essentially tanked the whole story for me. So, so much potential.
