They are apparently working on it but it's going to take a very long time for them to get this fixed. I don't think people really understand how hard it is to do what they are trying to do.

Yes, pulling your head out of your ass after being burrowed into it for so long is quite the time consuming affair, I would assume...
You can run a debloat script that some dude wrote in his spare time that makes Windows more gaming performant than this embarrassing clusterfuck.

MS: we hear you, and we'll do that except with 3 types of drm and AI spyware that will need half the performance. Ok?

It's their own operating system that they built from the ground up and have full and complete access to. And they're the third largest corporation on our planet with literally endless resources at their disposal.

The fact that a group of nerds built a Linux OS fork in their spare time for free that's outperforming what Microsoft has available is absolutely pathetic and completely inexcusable. It's really that simple.

I wonder when people will finally realize that Windows isn't broken. This is exactly the way Microsoft wants it. Gamers can complain all they want but the reality is gaming is not the focus of Windows development

I do understand how long this is going to really take.

They have been trying to fix windows already since its inception.

Also never forget their CEO and his priorities.

Do you think he would allow us to turn AI off for 10% more frames?

Windows will probably never be fully fixed for gaming. It also isn't the priority for the OS. Windows is like a bus that many passengers have to ride and we are asking them to make it compete with a Porche sports car.

Actually, on paper, it's not that hard
They just need to strip down windows to the kernel, figure out what's wrong with that, then ship it with essentials, or at least allow users to choose minimal installs
Not that hard, but they just can't give up their spyware and AI turd

1. The problem is MS has so many deals to package useless bloatware with windows that it's not as easy as just doing it.

2. Also doing so could potentially make a lot of OLDER games not work at all.

Windows Kernel is probably a jury-rigged abomination that only a few engineers at Microsoft dare to look at.
Backward compatiblity of everything is nice but this is the price.

The fact that the windows installation for the device still installed bloatware like Microsoft Teams on a gaming device, and couldn't be bothered to make a preset that just included gaming-centric apps only <shakes head>.

If they wanna compete with portables, they HAVE to fix the windows sleep issue. If the Steam Deck could create a suspend state that sucks up less battery, saves your currently loaded game to memory, and boots on/off in seconds....they should be able to figure it out as multi-trillion worth company.

Also, with the Steam Deck patching in downloads that turn the screen off and then sleep after being done...absolutely think Valve will get full background game downloads working on Linux before Microsoft does it on Windows.

Feels like they're treading water until Windows 12 rolls out next year(ish). I expect a huge gaming focus with that. Whether it's any good is another matter.

Resources are known to be very sparse at Microsoft. Scrappy underdogs don't have all the luxuries the big boys do.

We know exactly how hard it is because they already did it with Xbox's custom implementation of the Windows Kernal. The only reason they're even trying now is because others got so fucking tired of waiting for them to fix their shit they - quite literally - did it themselves in other operating systems to they could actually use the expensive top of the line hardware they paid for. A multi-trillion dollar company gets negative sympathy from me - they have the money, the staff, and the resources. This should not be an issue.

It doesn't do all that much. Your best bet is to install WIndows 11 IoT LTSC.

And it still sucks....just sucks a little less that way.
