So the latest court schedule came out and surprise surprise, Fillpoint will be there once again due to "Order to Show Cause why case should not be converted or Dismissed for failure to file a Disclosure Statement and/or Plan of Reorganization"

So they're trolling at this point. Sad.

Gah I hate that finishing standard goals doesn't immediately allow wizard goals to be chased without finishing the play... On Big Shot I got both the stripes and the solids and the eight on the same ball, unlocking those two goals but of course not the wizard goal to get both on the same ball. Grrr! Strangely, I spend a LOT of time on that table, simple as it is I find it compelling.

You have to be fucking kidding me. How can they string it out like this? Sounds like the company's run by Tim Langdell.

I managed to break 750 million in Monster Bash, entirely by accident. I activated the Monster Bash mode, somehow got all the instruments, and activated the Monsters of Rock mode, and scored like 500 million that way, lol. And all I wanted to do was activate Lyman's Lament.

MONSTERS OF RAWK.

I can hold on for the PS4 version. I can. I can. I can.

That's what I don't like about that game. Up to an extent it's strategic, but fairly early on you can get to the point where you just bash as many balls around as you can and up come the points. Maybe it's the symptom of a busy table, I dunno.

really? hmmn. generally I try to get as many modes going at once, THEN start the monster's multiball, then, if I got all the instruments start Monsters of Rock, else Monster Bash.

I've always felt like stacking the modes took skill, you know?

I think it does, but it always just felt a little easier with that one... or if you got one mode's multiball then it was far easier to get the rest. Hell, there might be a stack of games like that where I'm just able to fluke it but it's not as obvious as that one.

It's been a while since I've fired up MB, admittedly... it's saminess to a lot of other DMD titles turned me off.

Here's the latest interview with Bobby King of Farsight Studios, talking about TPA and the T2 Kickstarter. Here's a very interesting tidbit gathered from the interview.

9. This next question is one that my friends who love pinball ask whenever we talk about pinball games and Farsight in general. Given your company’s extensive knowledge on pinball design, has Farsight ever thought about creating original tables to put into The Pinball Arcade?

Yep. Stay tuned for more information in the upcoming months. We have some exciting plans regarding this!

I would love to see what kind of original tables Farsight has in mind of making exclusively for The Pinball Arcade.

God no, The Pinball Arcade should be about preserving real pinball machines and not about new tables. We've got Zen Pinball for that.

Hopefully it's a Zen/Farsight collaboration. No need to duplicate effort here -- just plug the companies into each other's tech.

I think there is a market for new pinball tables that could actually be real. I like Zen's fantasy stuff, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to play some new realistic tables too.

Reminds me of that Pat Lawlor co-designed table we were supposed to get in all Pro-Pinball-remastered glory... :( Well, hopefully it works out better next time.

Honestly, I have every confidence that if FarSight designed their own table, it would be infinitely closer to how a real table would be than literally anything in Zen.

What I'd love to see? The new Full Throttle game from Heighway Pinball make an appearance in there. I don't think it would take away sales from Heighway... in fact, I think it could sell even more of their machines. Ben Heck even wrote in the comments for T2 KS that since TPA came out, the price for Ripley's has increased significantly.

Personally, I'm thinking they might have a build-your-own ability (hopefully) in the PC release. I shit you not, I would pay a few hundred bucks to be able to design and create my own table, even if it's as complicated as Visual Pinball/Future Pinball appear to be. Honestly think I have it in me to design something that could appeal to a lot of people *and* play well.

It would've been great, but that KS was more of a clusterfuck than any of the FS ones... asked for WAY too much right off the bat. Especially when at that stage, I think only TZ was on KS and had only barely made it's target.

Any news at all about the 360 tables coming out? I keep buying tables on PS3, but the controls are not right. It's very frustrating! My flippers even start twitching sometimes.

That still happens in this game? I remember it happening in the PS3 version of PHOF:Williams Collection, and figured they would have sorted that out before TPA came out on PS3. It always drives me nuts when I go to my brother's house and play PHOF on his PS3.

Unfortunately, stuff like that is why I bought TPA on 360 instead of PS3, only to be screwed even worse with the lack of content on that version.

Oh well, at least it saved me cash so I feel less bad about upgrading to the PC release when it finally comes out.

When I was a little kid my dad talked about pinball machines and how much he loved them. Then he bought an older one for our house. It was not fancy, we didn't have a lot of money, but us not having a lot of money made this seem like a dream to me!

I would have my friends over. When I first them I had a pinball machine they didn't believe me, but I did! I would play it whenever I could. I had dreams about this pinball machine when I wasn't playing it.

Then my parents told me the sad news. It had broken. It was costly to repair. They had to get rid of it. I was very sad.

Years later I brought up the subject of this pinball machine to my parents. I still loved pinball machines. I told them I was sad we could not repair. This is when the story I knew and understood changed for the worse. It was never broken. My parents said I would ask day and night to play it, and that is all I wanted to do. I would have the whole neighborhood over. They grew tired of telling me know. It worked fine, they just sold it. They were tired of telling me I could not play it, and tired of me asking.

To this day I now have mixed emotions playing pinball due to this.

That was a weird story.

Thinking about the original tables that Farsight seems that they'll produce, maybe they will go a different direction than Zen. Since FS caters to the hardcore pinball audience, I think it would be cool for them to release original tables designed by real pinball designers.

Maybe a series of new Steve Ritchie tables, or Ralph Lawlor designs? I think that would go over real well with the community, and could bring in new enthuists to TPA that would be interested in trying new machines made by their favorite designers.

I remember the issue with PHoF, but I guarantee you 100% that the flipper twitch bug is not present in TPA.

QFT

I dealt with the twitch bug in PHoF and I have never seen it in the PS3 version of TPA. Day-one buyer and owner of every (PSN-released) table pack.

The Full Game has been removed/delisted from the marketplace also.I just checked Xbox.com and No Listing for the game can be found.I hope this is a good sign that the new DLC is coming sometime soon.

So T2 is gonna get made unless a bunch of people pull back pledges since there's zero benefit for going a single dollar over the goal amount.

Bring on the $180,000 campaign for TAF, I guess? :(

So, this happened yesterday at AusPAX:

Means I can bypass the qualifying rounds and go straight into the state finals :D No idea how many are in those finals (have to be a lot from PAX alone... I think around 30?), but it means I'll get my own entry in the IFPA (International Flipper Pinball Association) database because I'll have some kind of championship points.

Was a pretty average score and there were FAR better ones (I had ~36mil for my 3hr bracket, other brackets had up to ~116mil) but it's a crappy table with crappy tilt detection (seriously, it's beyond fucking bullshit, even for tournament mode) but hey, certificate and IFPA entry! Woo!

Congratulations! Sounds like fun, even if there are problems with the table.

I don't know if it's just the table or tournament mode, but the tilt was twitchy as all hell... the times I tilted (both on multiball runs on the third ball, only one while playing in tournament mode) I never got a warning it just booted me off.

I'm pretty sure I'm qualified to declare my opinion on it, and man... it's just an average table. It's different from some of the more cookie-cutter Stern tables (AC/DC notwithstanding) but it still manages to be unimaginative and boring.

Speaking to a mate about it who's played it a LOT more than I have (he was down in Melbourne from Sydney) he told me that for a musical-themed game, the song selection at the start has ZERO influence on the game itself... it's just background music. At least with AC/DC they were (damn) creative with how the jukebox worked and the different modes, but with Metallica the modes were all over the shop with different themes and such.

My mate and I did agree on one thing, though... Stern tables are flimsy as shit. I played a brand new AC/DC base model (which he said is the faster of all three editions, makes sense but I'd never thought of it) and got the ball stuck at a point up the very top where the operator (well, stall holder; it was a booth at AusPAX) had to give it a shake. As well designed as it is, their components never feel like they're made for public consumption. For home use maybe, but they're nowhere near as sturdy or as solid as even the cheapest/flimsiest Williams/Bally (even DE/Sega) machines.

Yuup. Their Avengers table is particularly shameful. Balls getting wedged everywhere, weak plungers, etc.
Yup, they're all shit. They exhibit problems after 6-12 months on location that I've not seen on older tables after several years. There's an X-Men near me that's about six months old and balls get stuck all over the place, it doesn't detect multiball correctly (number of times I've played a single ball with two on the field, then you lose one, ball over, THEN you lose the next one just in time for it to register a drain on the next one, THEN there's a ball stuck in the launcher) and the Transformers one just feels flimsy as shit.

My ultimate table/goal/project would be to get an AC/DC base-model table and retrofit as many parts as possible with Williams/Bally/DE equivalents. Because I'm sure as hell that none of those felt as bad as any of the Stern tables I've played in the last 10 or so years.

When I went to Headquarters Barcade in Chicago a month ago I can attest that both Avengers tables (regular and LE) had some pretty shoddy build, lots of balls getting stuck in various places.

Lazy table design for the most part doesn't help, either. With as I said, the obvious exception being AC/DC. It makes me weep that a machine with such a great, fast layout (as far as the base model goes) is hampered by shitty little issues that shouldn't even happen 10 years after a machine is released, let alone brand new ones.

Hopefully Heighway can bring on someone like Steve Ritchie to push out something totally fucking killer that doesn't have the build issues of Stern machines.

Shaneus

Member
Wasn't AC/DC a Steve Ritchie design anyways?
Exactly my point... I think (whatever my point was). Almost all of the table designs (even I think some of the early Ritchie/Stern tables were very lazy and seemed like they were phoned in. I guess when he got the go-ahead for AC/DC (a theme/band he obviously adores and has strong ties with... not unlike when he did TNG) he put some real work into it.
But the build quality lets it down massively.

That actually looks pretty good. Looks like it's built for SDTMs, though :/

Anyone here playing iOS try out the most recent one that came out around a week ago? I gave it a shot and I'm sure some ball physics have changed on some of the tables. I know CP received an update, but I just assumed it was for bug fixes, but it definitely feels weightier.

I have that problem with most late-'70s/early-'80s tables, they're drain monsters to me. The exception is Centaur, oddly enough.

Going back to the Capcom pin games, I'm looking at this YouTube video of a Future Pinball recreation of Big Bang Bar, and I'm still clueless about how there could be emulation problems with the ROMs on this. Is it because of the rarity of the Capcom games in general and people are afraid to ruin them? Or is the hardware that unique? It's not like trying to emulate the PS3's hardware, is it?

Just got a new patch on PSV. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it yet. Adds invite-only tournaments and fixes bugs.

Edit. Ooooh. Says it fixes leaderboard bug. Loading now!

Edit 2: Still broken. Friggin' A.

Edit 3: Works on PS3. Yay. I'm usually #3 out of the folks on my lists, for tables I've seriously put time into. Low activity tables, I am actually #1 or #2 on a couple. (I.e. no ParallaxScroll) I should post my STP ratios (self-to-parallaxscroll ratios). I think my best is like 7:10.

To top it all off, I finished all goals for TotAN. Finally rescued the princess for the first time ever. Then the game bugged out on the second rescue attempt (failed) and it didn't record the score. Basically got stuck in some dead state between end of rescue the princess and beginning of new ball. :( At least I got my trophy, I guess.

I wish they'd fix that damn leaderboard bug on the Vita. I consider the game broken until then. It's a shame, I'd probably prefer TPA over ZP2 if it weren't for all the bugs that go on without a fix for ages.

Whenever I start a game of Funhouse, the sound suddenly goes way low during most of the game.
Playing now. No trouble like that.

I don't know if it's related, but on my former PS3, low volume or no volume was a precursor to the death of the system (YLOD). :( But it was usually a game overall, not a specific part of a game.
