The Player 1 Podcast Topic

I love watching Kevin slowly transform into PC master race. Great show gang.

PC Gaming is so easy today with the GeForce Experience stuff. And I have a literally silent PC, that is super fast, and runs everything I throw at it at max settings.

The more I think about it, the more I love the idea of just throwing in a new video card every 12-18 months and always playing stuff with outstanding performance. Also being able to do cool stuff with mods is a nice perk. Like I made the weight I can carry in Fallout 4 up to 1500.

And I just bought a 960GB SSD...

Yep. I'm saving my pennies to go your route Kevin. Probably won't have a budget as high as yours though.

CJ did you used to work at Newtype?

Correct. Though after I left in 2007 I have not kept up with anime at all outside of a few shows.

I like a lot of the "classic" stuff, and up until 2005 or so they still made anime that was pretty good and not just the most horrible/awkward fan service/pr0n you've ever seen.

Keep in contact with any of the Newtype folks you worked with? We get some ol' EGM stories sometime but I'd love to hear about your time at Newtype, considering anime was both booming and dying, thanks to the internet. Well, the business end of it.

I do, yes. I was on an episode of the ANNcast and talked about some of that stuff. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/anncast/2009-10-02 That was recorded back in '09. Honestly - I loved working at Newtype USA, I loved anime/manga, and the team of people I worked with there was absolutely amazing. It was one of the weirdest, coolest experiences ever and I have some crazy stories from that whole three-year ride. But - at that time the US anime industry was on the verge of imploding and I began to really dislike how the US side of the equation did things and acted towards fans. Sadly it kinda soured me on anime at the same time.

Thanks for that link. I'll try to keep my dignity while listening to the Anime News Network.

What are your feelings on Miiverse stamps? After playing through Yoshi's Wooly World I have to say they are mostly a detriment for me. I can't tell you how many posts I saw that were just random selections and placements of stamps. I don't think it's interesting or fun. I would much rather see terrible drawings and nonsensical, broken writing.

So Kevin got rid of all his games to start an anime/video game vinyl collection?

Seems so, but watching anime requires far less time and commitment than a games backlog. Not speaking for him of course, but some people get paralyzed when faced with too many choices of things to play.

Haha I literally spent $50 to try out some recommended anime.

And I have 8 vinyls. Two are CHVRCHES albums. Also the Tron Legacy soundtrack :)

I went from about 350ish physical games to 60. Still downsized a ton.

First time poster in this thread, but I've been listening since episode 1. Still love the show guys. Thanks for always putting in the work.

I've yet to listen to this week's episode, but I really enjoyed last week's show. Props to Kevin for giving Twilight Princess the praise it deserves. Throughout the years it's always pained me how the rest of the cast laugh at my favorite Zelda.

On an unrelated note, I sometimes put on an old show when I've nothing else to listen to, and happened upon this nugget in episode 393 (around 29:00), talking about MS backtracking on Kinect:

Mike said:
Phil "I'm a games guy" Spencer says this year's E3 is gonna be games-games-games... also, I love you, the check is in the mail, and I promise not to cum in your mouth. Just the whole panoply of famous lies told.

I hope we see Mike back on the cast somewhere down the line. No hurry at all, but I can listen to this stuff all day. I hope all the life stuff works out.

I wish you guys would talk more about wrestling.

Hey Greg, would you like a WWE Network subscription gift card for the holidays?

I would have done on, but last time I talked about wrestling some people got pissedy . But that happens when I talk about movies, fast and furious, the Nintendo Network, etc.

Want to make sure I at least rotate these so it isn't the same thing that bugs the same 1-2 people every episode I am on.

And it is tough to really talk wrestling right now, it is so bad outside of the NXT and New Japan stuff I watch.

Lucha Underground Season 2 is starting. Hottest thing out there. If you haven't made time, I strongly encourage you to try it.

Haha, Lucha UG is nuts. Watched the first few episodes, got to get caught up. Find the men vs women fights a little weird. JR talked about it too on the latest Ross Report.

Mik's back! It was hinted in the Twitter feed but I kept expectation low to avoid a broken heart.

Good to hear from you, hope you're on the year-in-review episode.

That was a great episode, one of the best yet. The four of you guys put out my favorite show on the internet by far.

The only way this episode can not be good is if Mike called my mother a whore in this one. Actually, on second thought, it's still probably excellent!

I'm psyched for Mike too and enjoy him there a LOT, but jeez Phil you gotta relax a bit.
