CJ, did you ever pick up Guitar Hero Live? As a RB fan waiting for exports before playing the game, I'm actually really enjoying GH Live. Some of the TV stuff is kind of annoying, but it's nice to just have a set of songs to play and the "two string" chord set up makes the game feel fresh again.

So I started Persona 4 Golden. On Easy. We'll see how this goes!

I really enjoyed this week's episode. It was interesting hearing Greg Rice's perspective on the different topics, and I appreciated hearing Kevin's story about how he finally got to the end of P4: Golden. Really inspired me to get to the end of my ongoing 2 year playthrough lol. Finally, after listening to how hype Sewart was for Playstation VR, I'm actually considering picking it up once it hits retail.

If you just want to experience the story, you might as well go super easy (or whatever it's called). It lets you automatically revive at the end of any battle you lose.
Although the game gets easy anyway once you figure out how to abuse the weakness system.

I have no idea how Kevin could give Dancing All Night such a glowing review. It's hot garbage in terms of rhythm gaming and story.

Also, just in case anyone doesn't know, you can grab Oceanhorn for PC. Solid game recommendation.

It's funny, Kevin says (not exact quotes), "I put about 50 hours into Persona 4 and then I finished it."

...and I'm thinking, "maybe this isn't the game for me" (that's the upper limit of my time for any game.

And then he says, "So I go on Twitter and people are telling me I got the bad ending. So I make a bunch of different choices and put 15 more hours in to get the good ending."

....and then I'm thinking, "OK, this is definitely not the game for me."

Then I hear "Any gamer is doing themselves a disservice if they don't try this game for at least 15 hours."

...nope. Not gonna do it.

And yeah, that poker-chip sound was bizarre and distracting. Towards the end of his appearance, I wondered if it was DoubleFine Greg's mic. But would be funny if it actually was poker chips.

I played it for about 20 hours, enjoyed the hell out of it and moved on. More people should be willing to do that, in my opinion.

It's a story driven game though. If you aren't committed to seeing the ending, I don't know if the actual dungeon crawling aspect of it is worth trying just for the sake of trying it.

Unless you have an academic interest in learning why SMT games are different from other JRPGs I suppose.

It isn't just me. Reviews back me up too. (as not being trash, it has a 78 on metacritic).

I love the characters/voice work, the art design, and the music. The remixes are great too. The story isn't stellar but it is a good enough reason to get the gang back together.

As a rhythm/music game it isn't the best, but enjoyable and engaging enough to keep me playing.

Maybe no more shuffling poker chips or whatever the fuck that noise was next time?

That's exactly what I thought it was

Man, Dancing All Night is complete trash. Trash garbage shit.

It's fanservice. It's not like there is another rhythm game where you can play the P4 tracks unless you do some tomfoolery to get them into Osu or some other PC game.

I think you could throw a Persona label on a literal piece of human feces and it would get at least a 75 on metacritic.

Pretty much. The standard is so low for anything Persona related.

It seems like you guys don't like the Persona games. Makes sense why you would not like P4DAN.

I really love Persona 3 and even more so 4. Maybe makes more sense why I enjoy P4DAN, the series' music so much.

I liked Persona 3 and 4 Golden. Played the first couple but they were so unrefined, but I enjoyed them for different reasons.

Make sense of THAT. Dancing All Night is trash.

I did the same, maybe even closer to 30 hours and never saw the ending but absolutely loved it. I ended up putting it down when I got to a dungeon that was kicking my ass, never went back to it, and eventually sold my vita but it's still one of my favorite jrpgs ever
(I dont really like jrpgs)

If you don't like rhythm dancing games then sure, a persona skin isn't going to make you love it.

Appreciate Greg's psvr talk, glad to hear that rigs is as good as it looks minus the trailer.

Here's where it gets worse - I love rhythm games. As a rhythm game I feel DAN is junk junk junk.

What about it? Is the music / input not as fluent as I guess project diva? Or something wrong with another feature like the scratch?

I also feel like p4g being Kevin longest game played at 50 hours (before going back) seems low. I think he would like the persona 4 arena games then too. Lots of story in there with a decent fighting game in between.

I normally avoid long games too, but I'll make an exception when they get exceptionally good reception like Persona 4. At the end of the day it's not that different than playing something like Halo, where you need 3 games to get one complete story. And as Kevin mentioned, the Vita makes it much easier to play a single game for that amount of time.

After getting the implied homosexual guy into my party. Seemed like the third time through the identical sequence so I stopped while I was still enjoying it,

The Extra Life marathon was extremely successful this year. I started with the goal of raising $3,500 for my hospital. I finished by raising over $5,100!

I didn't make it the full 24 hours, so I'll be playing the extra hours through this coming week. I still owe an hour of Journey to Silius, Super Monaco GP, Batman & Robin and Legend of Mystical Ninja.

CJ - the Vita version of Persona 4 has a fast forward button for all the cutscenes, so you can skip all the story if you want to.
It even has the visual novel thing where you can go back and read/listen to dialog you missed, so if you fast forward through something and want to go back and read it, that option is there.

Yes, I did see that (but haven't done it). I dunno - I don't want to skip ALL the story. I'm not that guy that skips cutscenes. I just got through the castle where you save Yukiko - and I'm interested to see what happens next.

Episode 470: Spartans Without Helmets

This week! Stewy played games for charity, Activision bought King, there was an embargo on the review embargo for Fallout 4, we devolve into talking about the Sears Wish Books late in the show and there’s a lot more in the center there too - Halo 5, Persona 4 Golden, Mario Maker, Snoopy’s Grand Adventure and so much more. Join us, won’t you?

Ah well... you better be used to listening to the Bang Zoom players then if you're in it for the long haul. It's fair to say that JYB hams it up as you get further into the game.
