Do what I do: listen closely to hear if their erections rubbing together starts the sound of an actual fire.
Now I'm going to have to pay for another sound effect.

You can be excited about the Switch and still think plenty of decisions around the Switch are pretty dumb, the marketing and information rollout especially.Kinda crazy how much negativity we have here just because some people are excited for a upcoming console on a gaming podcast. Sure some discussion has been hit or miss but it's not like every member is sugar coating all Switch critism.
is it any different than seeing a trailer at E3 with a "next year" date and thinking that that thing will indeed release within the next 12-18 months? That right there almost never happens and yet the press and players have time and again been shown new awesomeness and gotten hyped only to have those games generally not come out on time or more likely be delayed at least 1-2 more years (or more in the case of some games). Nintendo is hardly the only one guilty of that. Nintendo's not the only first party that hasn't learned from prior mistakes, either.
OK sure. You can be excited about the Switch and still think plenty of decisions around the Switch are pretty dumb, the marketing and information rollout especially.
EZA has been saying "I'm making the Switch" for months and they are all down to buy one but it still doesn't sound like the audio book version of Nintendo stan posts.
Did they bring up any outrageous claims. Like Switch will outsell every system this year or where is this coming from?
i must be missing something but did we have official walkthroughs of the OS for the any consoles before? Didin't we always find out about this stuff during the media's review of the hardware?
I don't remember any of the past major systems having an official OS walkthrough video. Regardless, it seems to me like Nintendo isn't addressing it because from what leaked the OS is so simple/barebones that it's not worthy of it's own direct.
As far as the online components, they seem to not think it warrants its own direct until we are asked to pay for it (fall). Similar for virtual console, it seems that there isn't anything ready for launch.

Yeah not saying that any of you guys claimed something like this. That's why I was wondering where the current uproar is coming from. If you made comments like the one I posted i could understand it but most of the time it seems like not jumping on the "everything is shit" train is enough to offend people. Happened a bunch of times in some Switch GAF threads. Is that a real claim? Because even though I am excited for the Switch, that doesn't sound realistic. When Kimishima said that he thought the Switch had potential to sell as much as the Wii I think I said on the podcast that that was unrealistic. I don't think we've said anything about sales expectations. Except that Ethan doesn't think it'll be a success.
To be honest, I don't think so.But if you are excited for the system and are okay with the information roll out so far or at least not as bothered with it as other people....that should be fine too.
What is the mayor issue with the information ? I have all the information I need to make a purchasing decision. This is a 300 dollar gaming console and not a new car I'm buyingTo be honest, I don't think so.
If you look at how the Switch information rollout has been handled and exclude the very nicely pulled off teaser trailer and you then draft up some minutes with lessons learned and you can't come up with a sizeable list then I think you're blind.
I don't think there is a common ground of understanding here, if you read me complaining about the information rollout not being optimal and not being able to come up with criticisms as "yet you are acting as we don't know anything about the system."We really are talking about some minor details yet you are acting as if we don't know anything about the system and Nintendo hasn't shared any type of information.
I don't recall seeing a full OS walkthrough but maybe we did. I could see Sony or Microsoft doing that. We still do with major OS updates. But we did get an Iwata unboxing of the Wii U.

It is definitely not any different than that. Which is why game companies aren't the only ones who need to learn from their mistakes.SuperPac said:is it any different than seeing a trailer at E3 with a "next year" date and thinking that that thing will indeed release within the next 12-18 months?
I was wondering if anyone remembers this Zelda Breath of the Wild trailer from E3 2014 that ends with '2015' and if that ending meant the full announcement or a possible release date?
So your main issue that he didn't agree that the information blow out was less than optimal? Okay I get that.I don't think there is a common ground of understanding here, if you read me complaining about the information rollout not being optimal and not being able to come up with criticisms as "yet you are acting as we don't know anything about the system."
What's the name of the song playing at the end of this weeks podcast?
The one element of the show that bothers me since even the beginning and I have listened to the majority of the episodes is the off-topic banter and (Phil's?) jokes and voices. Please, stop. I beg you please. Otherwise, this is a top podcast for me.
Where did Mike Phillips go? Is he ever coming back?
That's a integral part of p1p, couldn't disagree more.Ethan hasn't bothered me yet, but I have noticed his aggressive positivity for the Switch.

Awesome!I'm at least going to beg to make a guest appearance periodically. (the next time I play a video game)

Came here to post something similar.Just got to say that I really like Ethans contributions to the show. I am so tired of all the negativity/hate towards Nintendo all over the internet, and while there definitely are things to criticize the Switch and its reveal for, I like that Ethan call it out as he thinks - that in the big scheme they are minor compared to 1) the idea and execution of the hybrid and 2) the games. I feel the same way, this is the stuff that matters.
i've never listened to this, before i download can anyone tell me if this is one of those ones that has the presenters on skype and you can hear that the audio quality is poor? like nintendo radio?
So your main issue that he didn't agree that the information blow out was less than optimal? Okay I get that.
I never said the information blowout was perfect or that it couldn't be handled better - thr way you phrased it made it seem like there was some big mishandling when it comes to Marketing of the Switch. When in all those are small details in the grand scheme of things. Someone not getting worked up about stuff like this isn't a negative for me, but I can see how straight up ignoring or downplaying the issues can be tiresome.
Wow, couldn't disagree more. That stuff is why P1P is my favourite podcast. If anything, Phil needs to step his game up with more voices, since he doesn't do them as often as he used to. Skitchin' guy, Bane, Milo, Mickey Mouse -- all of it gold. My personal favourite Phil voice moment was when he read out his NES collection in the Bane voice. Tears were streaming.

I am loving Ethan's contributions to the show and all the hate shitburgers in here should deal with it or stfu and stop listening.
Also, why the hell is Phil missing so many episodes? What am I paying you FOR?! Lol.
Has he done a bunk check in his son's room yet? I mean...he was the first one to the box...Phil is probably running around trying to catch the Amiibo thief.
He called the Zelda season pass "awesome". lolI haven't listened to this week's show (stupid cold means no driving anywhere, means no podcast listening), but unless Ethan's positivity has transformed from "I don't care what happens, I'm going to love this thing until it's dead and buried" into "Nintendo is doing everything right and they're going to succeed and none of their mistakes with this matter," I guess I don't see the problem.
Where do you live that it's so cold that you can't drive anywhere?I haven't listened to this week's show (stupid cold means no driving anywhere, means no podcast listening), but unless Ethan's positivity has transformed from "I don't care what happens, I'm going to love this thing until it's dead and buried" into "Nintendo is doing everything right and they're going to succeed and none of their mistakes with this matter," I guess I don't see the problem.

And that's an issue why exactly? A potential GotY candidate getting more content down the line is good news of you are already hyped for the game.He called the Zelda season pass "awesome". lol

If it turns out that the additional content is lackluster that's a bummer but getting more Zelda content as a Zelda fan is great news.
Many current gen games have 30-40 buck season passes. This wouldn't even be a big news if it wasn't a Nintendo title and the double standard.
Many people do complain about other season passes, so there's no double standard. Many current gen games have 30-40 buck season passes. This wouldn't even be a big news if it wasn't a Nintendo title and the double standard.
I accept season passes as a reality of the business. But I don't know if "awesome" is the adjective I'd use to describe it.No one is forced to buy the Season Pass before the content is released or all information is out. It's not like BotW will have content issues in its Vanilla version from what I read so far.
You guys are pretty much complaining about a mayor console game in 2017 having paid DLC. That's fine I guess, doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
