The Player 1 Podcast Topic

Are you guys playing/going to talk about Outlast? Or are you all wusses.

I've played a little bit of it so I imagine we'll discuss it this week. Like most 60fps first-person games, it gives me the vapors real bad so I can't play for long before having to take a break.

Now I'm going to be disappointed if the title of this week's show is anything but "These Gays".

Sorry to disappoint but I titled it...

379: Keeps Getting Better

A new Sonic game, Amazon buys Double Helix, Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes, next-gen system updates, Flappy Bird, Outlast, Threes, Ace Combat Infinity beta, The LEGO Movie Videogame, The Wolf Among Us, Bravely Default and so much more. Used a different program this week, and the podcast's in stereo. I think it sounds better this time out despite my microphone not working. :D

I spotted on a news site today a story on how apparently the Target cyber attack originated from a fridge vendor. I think Mike was on to them...

Hi CJ. As someone on very limited internet (limited to a point that your measly 300gig limit sounds like unlimited to me :) ), I really didn't see any advantage or improvements to the show being in stereo that justified the larger size. In fact, I really couldn't hear any discernible differences from prior weeks.

One thing that's always impressed me about the podcast is the small file size whilst maintaining a high quality of audio. Obviously I'm not asking you to change what you do just for me, but I'm more than happy to listen to a mono 64kbps podcast, especially if it maintains a smaller file size.

Anyway, thank you for putting on this show week after week. I may not comment about every show but I really do appreciate the dedication and time you all put in to appearing on the show and to you, CJ, for editing and hosting the podcast.

But there was no "yeah, that kind of game works for some people, but I have a family." in this episode (admittedly Mike doesn't say this).

:p

That was more about needing to refill my whiskey than anything to do with this "family" you speak of.

I'm watching a stream of someone playing an early release of Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns and by god I have no clue what Mike sees in this game other than Lightning's breasts. Oh. I guess that's it!

Because it took me so long to finish the game I had forgotten most of the characters and their roles by the end.

Yuga who?

I may have heard it incorrectly on a different gaming podcast (because I listen to like 3 on Mondays), but you guys didn't talk about the demographic (iirc yong boys ages 6-12) of the new Sonic game and TV series, right?

While it may not look like something interesting to us older gamers more familiar with a traditional Sonic, the demographic they're targeting seems like something that can work out for them with this sub-series spinoff.

What's Miiverse?

Miiverse is a "Sega Genesis 16-Bit" 40 Megs game cartridge. In the game cartridge, you are a shaved, mechanized God Slayer Matrix. At speeds beyond human compression, you fly to the flight fight of a lifetime, shooting laser bolts of plasma at the invading hordes of Malthesikosian Invaders inside the Alabaster Force Complex.

Are you strong enough to complete the Handshake of Wonder? Are you courageous enough to climb the Construction Ladder Force Megablast Tower. Are you sultry enough to tongue-kiss Shanae, Princess of the Cosmoses?

Prevailing wisdom says "no", but your desire to succeed says... "no"? Malthesik-falah to you, brave warrior!

Miiverse! Coming to the "Sega Genesis 16-Bit" home arcade system this fall!

Episode 380: Something About A Trombone

This week! News out of the Nintendo Direct, Mike ALMOST gets a Wii U, a non-spoilery discussion of The Last of Us Left Behind, and some talk about the Titanfall beta. Plus! TxK, Steel Diver Sub Wars, Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 (demo), Inazuma Eleven, Lightning Returns FFXIII, and a short update on Mike’s Madden 25 prowess.

I will say, I probably had a lot more luck with randoms over the years of Xbox Live because I'm on CJ's side. It was fun to meet random people and be able to just talk to them during the down period of a game. But even on a co-op game like Gears of War 3, people were in private chat and it was just infuriating not being able to talk to people in situations like that.

I don't see how the Titans are slow and lumbering though... if anything, they feel like normal characters, to the point where you can sprint around the maps pretty quickly.

I love that you guys are still giving CJ shit for playing Sam and Max episode 4 before episode 1.
Let's ignore that CJ's play order made sense because episode 4 released for free as a demo...

Poor Mike keeps almost buying systems. Last week it was the XB1, this week its the Wii U. My advice is to just buy a 32X already and enjoy the Kolibri life

Also, I'm convinced famousmortimer just likes trolling gaf

Mike bought a WiiU?!

Shame he doesn't like Lego games because Lego City Undercover is genuinely the best (well, my favorite) game on the system.

Do Mormons have a code against good Internet connections or is it just Mike? I've been meaning to ask this forever now but this week it was super apparent in the video. Just look at how crisp Greg's stream is compared to Mike's.

It might be a setting in Hangouts or something. Because the audio is fine. No idea. I'd put some effort into correcting it if there were a single interesting thing about the video.

Isn't it easier to call Inazuma 11 1 a tactics role-playing game? I mean, it's essentially the Valkyria Chronicles series, but soccer and Pokemon. (Or, as Greg surmised, it's just Captain Tsubasa once they had the technology to actually do their idea.)

Anyway, it's the best series of the last generation, so everyone on the podcast should probably try it.

It gets its act fully together by 2, and now there are 6 (with spinoffs and a separate Level-5 series that takes place in the same universe), so you'll have plenty of opportunities to jump in and out if you so choose.

Plus, it's the only game with majority Mitsuda music for ages, and the (Japanese) theme song for 1, Riyo, is stupidly catchy. That's reason enough for me!

Awesome last few episodes, everyone, though that's just as much because of the game choices.

I am, however, distracted by how C.J. says "The Wolf Among Us." "The Wolfamongous" sounds like an awesome, internet-y way to compliment someone's toughness. The people saying "Beast Mode" now will be saying "Wolfamongous" in 1 month.
