You definitely said it better than I could - but it makes me die inside when they handwave games off without understanding what they're trying to do or take the ball and run in the complete opposite direction because of an incorrect statement about the game, whether it's something they heard here or elsewhere.
It's not about them agreeing with anything. That's never been the problem...
I think I just had to air my grievances on how the show's been developing, and I wish there was more game talk and less exchanging of bad Simpsons references. A lot of people enjoy that, though, all I can do is offer my 2 cents.
One of those points (needing a wireless KB/mouse to actually turn on/launch the system) is valid. The rest are points you might have posted from a decade ago, when they made sense.
The keyboard I use for my PC is, I'll bet, not any bigger, and considerably lighter, than a Wii U controller.
I have a media PC in my front room and we use one of these

I think we all know the reason CJ is not interested in PC gaming is because it is PC gaming and not Apple Gaming.
does CJ know Steam works on Macs?
It's just the compatibility isn't fantastic. I have a bunch of steam games I can't play on my mac.
oh, i know. but at least i was wondering if that would entice him to connect one of his Macs to his TV to play the games that are compatible.
We are friends on Steam. And no.

that is basically all this show is dude except most of the guys aren't yet 40 (granted, the crew's average age is probably north of 60 when you factor in Mik)I'm not surprised CJ of all people doesn't get what I've been saying. This from the guy who can't even mentally wrap his head around what PC gaming is.

It's not about them agreeing with anything. That's never been the problem. I don't always want people to agree anyhow, that's how we learn from others. I just wish for a little more effort. If I wanted to hear a 40 year old tell me why he didn't bother with a game, I'd go find someone off the street--however from P1, they've shown in the past they're very capable of reviewing games and even though that isn't their JOB on the podcast, I always hope to hear their insights into why a game is good or why it failed--and lately, I feel like they've been quick to dismiss things instead of discuss them - but hey, why should I want that? I'd rather listen to Phil waste our time with poorly-executed witty barbs.
I'll still listen when I can, but I can't help but feel there's too much of a disconnect with what P1 does vs what I want out of a podcast. It used to provide it, even in the (gasp) Dormer days, but I think it's just gone its own direction as opposed to what I want out of it. It pains me because I want to hear from Sewart and Mike more, and CJ used to be really good with his thoughts on game design and why things function as they do - and Phil used to be really good about giving me reasons to give a shit about games he likes. Now it's turned into the "CJ is a doof" show followed by "callbacks to Phil and Giana Sisters" and it's just burning me out.

setting up a controller involves plugging a wired microsoft 360 controller into a USB port and letting the system autoamtically install drivers. gaming PCs themselves are dirt cheap (< 500 bucks); you can run nearly everything on mid to high settings with a card bought in the past couple of years. the PC runs the best console games better than any console and the range of genres would definitely be to your liking. at this point, the barrier to starting (paying a bit of cash, getting familiar with the interface, hooking it up to a TV if that is your thing, etc.) is the only legit concern. but you have plenty other game machines taking up your already limited time, so it's not like you are missing much if you are happy with your current setup.I was making a joke, but since you had to go ahead and make it personal... let me present you with...
~ THE 5 OR SO REASONS CJ DOESN'T PLAY PC GAMES ~
I don't have any interest in spending any amount of money on a PC that I'll have to upgrade/tinker with/deal with Windows and its upkeep to play the latest games.
Very little interest in sitting anywhere other than the couch to play games.
No interest in using keyboard/mouse to play games, too lazy to figure out how to set up controller support on games I would want to play.
No interest in keeping/storing a wireless keyboard/mouse around to play/launch PC games or use a desktop operating system on a TV. (I can barely keep the 3 control pads I do use easily accessible.)
Not interested in the game genres most popular on PCs.
The most acclaimed PC games that I would be interested in eventually come to consoles.
I'm just not interested. Never have been even when I owned a PC.
Listening as we speak!
12 minutes in, please tell me there is more Bane voice.
None
Sometimes, even though you may not want to play the game due to a poor trial, or if you're misunderstanding the game mechanics, you really should spend more time with a title to see if it has anything to offer on a larger scale.
I would tooI would pay $0.50 IAP for Bane voice

Work on some good reward tiers and you've got yourself a backer.Doing the Bane voice requires hours of prep time and thousands of dollars of equipment. I will also need office space to record in as the voice really gets on my wife's nerves. We are considering having a Kickstarter to raise the money that will allow me to perform as Bane more often.

Pay $10: Get a "No girl for that matter" ring tone
Pay $25: Get a custom voicemail message from Phil recorded in the Bane voice

I've been on and off the P1P, it's always on my rotation but I don't always listen to it.
Now, with the 300 episode, a question popped: whatever happened to Greg Ford? He went back to school or something but that was the last I heard.

I'm a Human Becoming and I approve this message.I think we need a $2 Phil soundboard app with all his crazy voices on it!

If that existed, then Phil wouldn't even need to be on the podcast anymore.
Prerecord an intro and the outro, and have a soundboard with the Mario music ready to go and you have at least half the podcast.

It still amuses me that the internet thinks that there's only one Jeff Green.Jeff Green does this, even though he technically lives in Berkeley.
