Actually, in a sense it has some post-modern elements in it like leaning to the fourth wall, but it's not sarcastic, grunge, and rude. That's another appeal to it, IMO. Nowadays you just can't seem to be popular to the "crowd" unless your work either has filth or rudeness.

I can understand hating on FiM's animation if you're all "I don't watch anything that looks worse than The Lion King", but I think you have to go back and re-watch an episode of G1 ponies, it's not as amazing as you remember. Flash is the right medium for the show, but then again I don't have a problem with other flash shows like superjail, so maybe I'm biased or something.
