the project is due in a few hours and i haven't even started yet. i know once i get started i'll be fine, but the question is when - i did the same song and dance routine last week with two papers and didn't even start till four. instead i just sat here and browsed the forums, sipping coffe, feverently hoping enlightenment would come in the form of the latest psp discussions. i've put off everything tonight to get this done and yet i just sit here, i could've played Phantom Dust with MAF and crew. but no, i had to get this project done.

who else here is a horrible, horrible procrastinator?

Oh, god -- I do the same thing... and I never did that in high school...

I do it for fun. I had two 8 page papers to write (one of which I hadn't done any research on) and a final to study for, with only about 30 hours to do it. So I went hardcore, no sleep, and got it all done. I got B's and A's on all of them.

It's a rush. Some people skydive, I like potentially destroying my academic career.

I don't feel motivated to do anything... though I talk (to myself) a lot and create theoretical plans to change and do many things but eh, I just end up like this on my pc.

Same here. What is it with University that makes you slack off? Is it just because you care less?

In high school, I'd get major assignments done a week early!

Hmm, let me reply to this properly tomorrow.

no but seriously....work just doesn't get done unless its due the next day. i feel that somewhere inside we'd all make terrific journalists.

I went to WAGs boutique and all I got was a sniff
Im definately a procrastinator and its all thanks to GAF. Last week I had to give in my draft version of my coursework and I said to myself that I would spend 2 hours a day on it. nstead, I spent 3 hours browsing GAF and did no work until the last minute.

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
Same shit. It's pretty pathetic, and I wish I can over come it. Once I start the task I'm supposed to do, it rolls like butter. But the process of mustering up the will to actually start seems to be the hardest part...argh.

Yeah, I do that all the time. It's not really a problem until it starts affecting your grades though. I can sometimes overcome it if I set artificial due dates for my work.

I was good at it until last quarter :/

I'm never motivated until the very last opportunity of time. School work never holds my attention unless its utterly important. Every time a new quarter begins, I always say to myself that things will be different this time around. It never is :lol

On a related note, do you guys think it would be wrong to start taking Pricetam (a legal mind enhancing "smart drug") in order to fix this problem?

Is Pricetam similar to Ridlin?

College students here have been buying the perscription drug illegally - it has performance enchancing effects for individuals without ADD or ADHD, too.

Yar, I'm horrible. I just spent the last 10 hours working on a cs project that is due this morning. I put it off for a good 2 1/2 weeks. Last night I spent the night doing the exact same thing with an english paper that was due yesterday.

There we go, 1700 words done in about two hours. That should work nicely, I'd hope.
Not bad. It took me around 6 hours to put together a 5000 word paper today. It would've went smoother if I didn't take so many breaks. Heh.

There are a lot of things that can interrupt a procrastinator. Like having to stop working to stare at the wall, pace around the room, television, stereo, or goof off (porn) on the internet... I'm suprised I can ever get anything done with these distractions going on around me.

Computers are evil. Not only are they the most productive tool available, but also the most unproductive at the same time.

I'm pleased in that I constructed what appears to be a solid lesson plan...when I've never done anything of the sort. Here's hoping my professor doesn't outright blast it.

I'm horrible for this too.

I've found that doing small portions though, even ridiculously small portions of something each day help.

Instead of trying to think about how you're going to complete the assignment, ask yourself what's one small thing you could do right now towards your assignment.

From what I understand, piracetam works similarly. The main beneficial effects are an overall improvement in motivation, enhanced memory, and increased mental clarity. It's not without it's side effects though. Among other things, It has the potential to cause minor headaches, drowsiness, and can potentiate other drugs such as caffiene, alcohol, and weed.

I have GAF ADD, ill be working on a project and then loose my train of thought and head right back to gaf to waste several minutes at a time, then repeat about a hundred times through out the day.

Do these things work? There is a lot of info on the web, but do you have links to actual studies done by known organizations on this stuff? Also, where would you buy any smart drugs? I found this site: http://nubrain.zoovy.com/ but it doesn’t look safe...

I'm trying to work on my thesis right now... in the past 3 hours I have written about 1 page. Sounds bad, but it's really hard to write this thing. Constantly looking stuff up, questioning every sentence, etc etc, what a pain.

Lesson plan? You're gonna be a teacher?

Thankfully no. But as one of my classes covers each aspect of the English program, we're required to do an assignment for each.

I used to keep a supply of Vicodin ready because I knew at least once a week I'd be pulling an all-nighter. It wasn't until I quit school, moved away and worked a full-time office job that my habits started to change. I am now back in school and I must say that I don't procrastinate nearly as much as I used to and I find that I have, or at least it feels like I have, more free time. The way this works is that I used to tell my firends that I couldn't go out becuase i had a paper to write that was due in 2 days, but then I'd sit at home not writing the paper, so then the next day they'd ask if I wanted to go out and I have to again say no, since now I absolutley have to write this paper that night. So I could have gone out 1 out of 2 nights but instead I stayed home both nights because I procrastinated. In that way procrastinating actually took up, or seemed to take up more free time than not procrastinating.
