The "Project Dimitri" Hype Train is a go!

Hm. I can certainly see where people could be disappointed by some of Peter Molyneux's work.

I've interviewed the man a few times now. And maybe it's just me, but I think he's not so much a shameless self-promoter as he is a guy who really really likes games and has some neat ideas about making them. The problem is, his ideas are grandiose and there's a very real limitation as to how he can present them. So yeah, it's a great idea to have a game with this totally malleable world and this hero who is equally malleable -- but the technology won't allow for that. People are tantalized by the ideas and then let down by the reality.

Anyway, people will be hearing some things about him in the near future. Some of the things he hinted at during his GDC presentations were expanded upon during his showings for his new titles, and they seemed really novel and potentially revolutionary. And Black and White 2 and The Movies got me really excited about games -- just not in that weird, creepy way, mind you. Because that would be weird and creepy.

Thank you Disco Stu I get the same feeling from him as well.

The only project of his which I'm excited for is Black & White 2. I genuinly think they've combed through every process of the original and rectified most of it's mistakes.

drohne that's a crazy conspiracy theory you have going, then again I'm not familiar with the going ons of the Nintendo fanatics on this board. I'd like to see that list of yours though if you don't mind.

I'm assuming the following was posted in response to the scant Dmitri details.

I'm hopeful the Movies turns out well, as it seems more along the lines of the stuff from him I enjoyed, but I'm somewhat pessimistic after Black & White.

I have been reading interviews from Molyneux for years and he was always this way, he always wanted to do crazy and impossible things. In Syndicate he wanted to have destroyable enviroments for example.

Industry would be a very boring place without people like Peter Molyneux, I'm certain that The Movies and Black & White 2 is going to convince a lot of people of the talent inside Lionhead. I could be wrong, but for what I have seen right now, I feel pretty sure about it (and it´s not like I dislike B&W or Fable).

I assume its directly related to the 'digital clay' stuff he showed at GDC during the Emily Dickinson thing.

Basically it was a blobbly shader block that expanded parts when you clicked on it and when you made basic shapes, it would turn into a chair or something. The engine also had some really nice portal systems.
